Galileo908 November 12 Author Share November 12 LOL the vamps realize they have a window on the other side of the house! And they have neighbors on that side! They don't know what an Air BnB is so they assume their neighbors are shapeshifters. Of course it ends with Nandor and Nadja accusing the other of bring shapeshifters. Loved the callback to the neighbor being Nandor's possum girlfriend. Everyone loves Laszlo's Dad's Ghost. I was wondering who they'd get to play him, and they got Steve Coogan! Brilliant casting. Really loved Laszlo's steampunk proton pack. Seeing it in use was awesome. OF COURSE Colin collects funko pops! And displays them loose, too, to drain the energy of the MIB collectors. And that the first place he'd take someone in NY is the Times Square M&Ms store. God, this was a great one. Loved that they care so much about the camera crew. Nate got got. Good to have confirmation that a welcome mat counts as an invitation. 7 Link to comment
ItCouldBeWorse November 12 Share November 12 Lazlo would probably have been a pretty good father, apart from the likelihood that he would have taken a son to a brothel by the time he was 10. I'm not sure why Nadia was so afraid of a gun-any damage would have been temporary, although I suppose it would hurt. 3 Link to comment
thuganomics85 November 12 Share November 12 The bar was certainly set high with this episode thanks to its title and, well, if you have to get someone to play Laszlo/Matt Berry's Ghost Father, you really can't go wrong with Steve Coogan! You can easily see where Laszlo got his pompous attitude, speech pattern and accent, and why he is the way he is: for better and worse. At the same time, you can see that despite his flaws, Laszlo is better than his dad in a lot of ways: likely thanks to meeting Nadja and spending time with the rest of the gang. Not surprised his dad was up to no good, and I'm glad he overcame it. Thanks in part to a Ghostbuster-like proton pack and the Creature he created in his lab. Just an everyday thing for this gang! Of course Colin has a Funko Pops collection in his safe. With not just one but TWO Lizzo figures! Kind of wish we actually got to see the gang visit the M&M store. The B-plot of Nandor and Nadja discovering they have other neighbors besides Sean and learning what an Air BnB was a fun side story as well. Didn't not predict that the Air BnB owner would actually end up being a changeling and possibly the one Nandor dated "back in the day." They weren't too far off! The camera guy getting shot and seeing the reaction to it was another nice bit of them incorporating the film crew more this season. 5 Link to comment
peeayebee November 12 Share November 12 Loved this. Steve Coogan was fantastic. I knew that Laszlo would be proven right about his ulterior motives. Cracked up that Rich Little was a shape-shifter. The AirBnB owner being a shape-shifter was a nice surprise. And The Monster saved Laszlo! What a guy. He really is a good addition to the show. Loved when Roderick said something insulting about him to Laszlo, and The Monster said, "I right here." 8 Link to comment

Was Nandor writing a love letter to The Guide when he discovered the window? The fact that Nandor's favorite film is The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is just so random. I love the effect they use for the ghost. It made me miss Jeff. The neighbor actually turning out to be a shape shifter was the best twist of the episode. I didn't care much for last week's episode but this one was really good. 6 Link to comment

tennisgurl November 12 Share November 12 I was so excited to see who they would cast as Laszlo's father, and Steve Coogan is inspired casting. I was not surprised that Laszlo's father was up to no good, mingle with poor people! He cant jerk off anymore? He's forced to feign interest in the Welsh! Laszlo's steampunk proton pack is really cool, and it does actually work! I like the bit of continuity in Colin Robinson latching onto Laszlo's dad as a parental figure, possibly subconsciously remembering his time being raised by Laszlo, who has very similar mannerism as his dad, and Laszlo showing some latent paternal feelings towards him at the end. This show isn't huge with continuity, but I appreciate that the writers clearly always remember what all has happened before and it does affect things. Laszlo having Rasputin as a last minute babysitter does certainly explain a lot. Yes, the British Empire. We plundered the world, but our museums are fucking great!” The Nadja-Nandor plot was fun, especially the twist at the end that the host is, in fact, a shapeshifter. Poor Nate the camera guy, this season is really leaning into acknowledging the camera crew, which is really fun and I still think its building up tp something. Will we finally see the documentary in the series finale? 5 Link to comment

Roderick and Monster were also good contrasts to say, the addition of Jerry. They blend so well into the cast, while Jerry...I have to remember he's in the show now. I was happily surprised that Monster was now part of the house meeting like with Doll Nadja, and he ended up saving the day! Colin got to him after all. 10 hours ago, peeayebee said: The AirBnB owner being a shape-shifter was a nice surprise. I realize that Colin only collects the musician pops because it'd probably be a nightmare to license any of the IP ones, even the ones in Disney's sphere. But it totally tracks for an energy vampire to have multiple variants of the same pop, happily explaining the very minute differences between the Lizzo pops. Which variants were store/convention exclusives, etc. 15 hours ago, thuganomics85 said: Kind of wish we actually got to see the gang visit the M&M store. Colin would love all the "adult" colors like beige and teal. I've been to that store many times, an energy vampire bringing someone to Times Square, especially THAT part tracks for them so much. I bet Colin went to the Howard Johnson's back in the day. Edited November 13 by Galileo908 4 Link to comment

Kel Varnsen November 14 Share November 14 That might have been my favourite episode this season. There were so many funny lines. Like Lazlo's extended story of how his dad would paddle him. Or when he was pissed because he raised Colin Robinson but Colin Robinson didn't remember. The whole thing with them fucking around trying to get the car to work was a good gag too. 3 Link to comment

Poor guy was just minding his own business being a night watchman, and Nadja shows up and awakens all his memories, then he gets committed, escapes when he hears her call, gets killed, comes back, and gets rejected with no resolution so he can move on. 3 Link to comment
Lantern7 November 17 Share November 17 Good episode. Roderick is totally going to possess the Funko that looks like him, isn't he? Of course, there are so many guest characters that can pop up before the series finale. I'm banking on Simon the Devious returning, mostly so Nick Kroll can be associated with a character not named "The Gurgler." Of course Nandor would accidentally shoot an arrow at a crew member. And of course the vampires didn't know they had neighbors on the other side of the house. Biggest winner in the deal with the AirBNB hostess is Guillermo. She leaves food that the vampires can't eat. Also, I'm thinking it's a coincidence she turned into a opposum. Yep. Coincidence. While I still feel that Laszlo's relationships with others are merely there as "proof" that he get along with regular people (especially Sean), the bit with Colin Robinson was touching. 2 Link to comment

Peter O'Toole was a ghost dad in "High Spirits" (1988). Laszlo's dad's ghost had such similar voice, appearance, and mannerisms, that I didn't even recognize Steve Coogan. I just kept seeing Peter O'Toole. 4 Link to comment
