The Challengers get their first taste of what a final could look like, while battling to avoid being purged from the game; one Challenger tries to put the final nail in the coffin for their foe.

Tuesday reminded me that in the grand scheme of things, Johnny Bananas isn't that loathsome. He's still a smug asshole, though, and he got lucky that he was able to squeeze through a tunnel full of pegs a lot faster than someone as tall as Theo.

The hyped Purge only got rid of two players. The big surprise is that one of them was Laurel. Apparently, the Killbot is past her warranty. Not only did she quit, she got a ride back to the start to join the others. If TJ that scared of her where he doesn't chew her out? Or is BMP still that stuck on her?

I didn't have a problem with Laurel 'quitting.' She was last and therefore eliminated. There's no point in finishing. I still hate her though.

I was hoping to see at least 4 people purged. 2 is so lame. I don't like Laurel or Nehemiah though so I'm glad they're both gone at least.

The heat got to them.  The digging out of the key and the puzzles really randomized who'd win I think.  Though it's impressive that Kyland solved the puzzle first since it's about previous Challenge seasons and the others were on far more of those seasons than he has been.

I seem to recall in recent seasons with mini Finals, the Finals were far less than expected, because if they shot the mini Final and the Final just a week apart, in brutal heat and humidity, it would be reckless of the producers.

Johnny does a good job of befriending as many other challengers who are likely to be on future seasons with him.  At some point they're going to have to turn on him and then he gets salty.

What a baby.

As they get more and more younger cast members or rookies, it's going to be harder for him to get his friends to protect him, if they even appear on as many seasons.

The elimination was definitely not going to be a level playing field given how much bigger Theo is, not just taller but wider shoulders.

Maybe if he won most of the card draws, he might have had a chance but that went against him too.

Guess the producers wanted to keep Johnny and his angels around.

Laurel showed her full ass.  Everyone else was playing under the same conditions so she’s not special.  So happy to see the back end of her.

John is still a giant fucking baby.

Gotta love the mini final. It looked exhausting and disgusting. The fact that TJ did not rip into Laurel makes me think that they knew the last female had crossed the finish line and maayyyybbeee the producers "encouraged" her to act a fool, or maybe she was so embarrassed and exhausted from the heat that she just did that and didn't think it through. What an appropriate way for her to go out on this challenge. Her own doing. Won't miss you.

They are making Johnny work on this season of the challenge, I love it! Activated Johnny makes for a better challenge, love him or hate him. He's been just sailing along for so long that he hasn't had to work on the challenge for a while. I'm enjoying the Tori/Johnny war. I'm looking forward to watching Michele squirm. I can only hope that Johnny wins the next challenge so that he will be safe from being made a target.

What was up with Laurel giving Johnny a 1? That was surprising. Hater energy through and through. Won't really miss Nehemiah, so not very sad about that. Don't dislike him but he's pretty ho hum for me on the challenge. I think I would have been more sad to lose Corey. These mini finals are a good indication of who will perform well on the final though and I want to watch a good final.

I was expecting more than 2 people to be purged, it's a tiny let down but I guess longer season so whatever. The last few episodes of the challenge have been very enjoyable for me.

I listen to the podcast. An interesting piece that they didn't talk about was that the keys were on a rope so that helped guide the digging. If you weren't careful, though, the rope snapped and then finding the keys was almost impossible. That's what happened for those that timed out.

They also indicated that Michelle was still working when Laurel started talking about quitting. They believed that Laurel quit because she would had the penalty and then potentially would look bad in the next daily. This way she goes out on a 'win.'

Mmmmm…no.  Can’t agree with you on this one.  To me it just showed even more how much of a sore loser jerk he is.  And disrespectful to the other competitors of this game he claims to love.

Toenails disgusting; Kyland and Tori impressive; Bananas and Laurel whiny; elimination interesting concept but mismatched and I didn't like the chance part.

My favorite part was the goodbye between Cory and Nehemiah.  I hadn't realized they had gotten so close but they did seem to have a great deal of mutual respect and a true growing friendship.  I also enjoyed Cory's talking heads where he didn't want to hear Bananas go on and on about himself and where he didn't want to hear Josh and Michele sniping at each other either.

Speaking of Cory, I have to admit that he's playing a pretty good game. He's learned that being that brash meathead he used to be with Hunter and Nelson won't win him a championship.

I'm kind of rooting for him this season.

I'm not a Johnny fan but so glad he won. Theo is not interesting tv and Johnny in a war with half the house is much more interesting. The dailies are often not that great of TV --so need some drama to make this something besides boring. And Olivia annoys me, so seeing her disappointed makes me happy. Same with Michele. Michele would be less annoying if she would work on not using up-talk all the time.

I did dislike the chance element of the hi-lo part. Less luck/more skill is always better.

I wouldn't mind watching Johnny as long as he lost.

The producers prefer him so probably gave him an elimination which gives him an advantage.

Have we had the Hall Brawl yet?

I guess they don't want to put Johnny in the HB against a bigger guy.

meant to add that I feel like the term "purge" suggests more than 2 people leave, so was disappointed with that. They should just call it automatic elimination or something and save purge for really gutting the field.

most of the eliminations have not been direct physical--I guess they save those for when Fessy is at risk. :)

Wholeheartedly disagree on your first point. Mostly because he is a gigantic baby when he isn't getting way. Even for a second. I wouldn't care half as much if he stopped complaining do much.

Wholeheartedly disagree with this too. Laurel started acting like she was over it far before it was a wrap. I don't want to hear someone constantly go on about how awesome they are tap out. F out of here with that.

She also never belongs on the challenge mt. Rushmore. Nah. I think they wanted two women and two men up there but no. Her bark has been more than her bite for years.

Dislike Bananas all you want (it's probably justified, IMO), but at least the guy brings something to the show.  The lame fucks, especially most of the newer generations, are pre-packaged Ken & Barbie dolls just floating along for a check.  This isn't some high-browed content I'm watching.  It's "reality" tv FFS; entertain me or GTFO, hahaha!

Unfortunately that's probably right, a guy who stirs up drama is what they generally want on reality TV.

Not people who stay in the background or just tries to go with the flow.

Plus he always has something to say on the talking heads so it's easy for them to feature more footage of him than most other cast members.

Reality TV really is suited for loud narcissistic types.

Doesn't really bring much to me. Honestly he can be funny and entertaining. I don't hate Johnny. His whining when he's not getting his way is just not entertaining to me.

I simply don't give a shit if people quit. Laurel is loathsome in almost every way, quitting is the least of her problems.

That's cool.

And I don't really care if people quit. I don't what to hear HER give all this bluster about how great she is. How many people fear her and then she taps out is what amounts to half of a final challenge. Throw that on top of the other things I don't like about her.
