Saw a headline that Americans are "exhausted" with talk of politics.  No kidding.  Trump is exhausting.  So why on earth did he get voted in again?  If enough people had gone to the polls last month they wouldn't be so damn "exhausted" now.  But nooooo they voted in 4 more years of this neverending cycle of "what the hell is that moron going to do now".

Pace yourself. It's going to be a long four years.

What is ol' Mikey up to these days? I know he's probably an ENEMY OF THE STATE for putting country over party in 2021, but I'm willing to bet he's making plans to have conversion camps built from coast to coast.

At least he looked like someone that held high office. I look at JD Vance and his stupid beard, and I think "Ted Cruz." That's not good, right?

The last 8 years has made me agree with David Frum.  David Frum - a speechwriter for GWB.  Yet another thing I now hold against Trump.

I do think this applies to a lot of MAGA.  But the problem is a lot of them are dumb. And are we not supposed to address that? There is that great quote by Isaac Asimov:

“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

As some of us on this thread has said it's not the voters who truly don't know things. It's the ones who believe the blatant disinformation misinformation lies. The ones who storm the Capitol. The ones who now say things like your body my choice.  The ones who attacked Asians during the pandemic.

I'm actually more embarrassed when I hear people defend and support him.  A client came into my office the other day and the cost of electricity came up.  I live in a state that gets cold in the winter so heating bills rise.  The guy said it will be great when Trump gets back in office because all our energy costs are going to go way down.  This is a successful business owner and I'm looking at him thinking you should know better.

Yes the name and the group is dumb.  Proud of what?  Your overwhelming insecurities?  Your fear of white men not being in charge anymore?

I realize that until the Dems have a new party chairman (February) they’re kinda wandering around without a leader to mobilize them.
But dumb #1 stop keeping the younger members from leadership. *see AOC vs Connelly

#.2 work your asses off to find out how to win back the reliable voters lost in ‘24

# 3  don’t listen to one damn piece of advice from MAGAs at some point they’re going to be a bad footnote in history

#4 I know that Howard Dean isn’t coming back to lead the party but find that person

MAGAs are already fighting with each other over immigration. Yesterday queen of the wannabes Nikki Haley threw in her two cents.
Dems don’t be those people. And use every resource /person in your arsenal. Have Stacy Abrams on speed dial

It’s of utmost importance to engage the younger voters. I know from talking to my 31 yr old daughter that the voices she wants to hear from and who’s policies she relates to are the Bernie’s the young people of color and not the billionaires that people like her dislike . We talked about that here recently

This is why I think there should be term limits. The House and Senate need new blood every so many years.

Whoever is planning on running for President in 2028 needs to get out there now and do a listening tour.  Go to colleges. Go to red states.  Go on Tik Tok. And don't do polls. Actually talk to voters.

A  huge problem is Democrats continue to chase Republican voters.  They need to go after the voters who stayed home.

Marianne Williamson has thrown her hat in the ring.  They need to keep looking.

What she has accomplished in Georgia she needs to take national.  I actually thought Biden should have chosen her as his VP.

My son voted for Bernie in the 2016 primaries.  He became disillusioned after that and didn't vote till this year and he voted for Trump.  He could be brought back to the Dems if they stopped becoming beholden to corporate donors.

Howard Dean was an excellent chairman of the DNC (& he would've been a good president). If I recall correctly, his focus on building up the base across the country was a key component to Obama's win in 2008. Unfortunately, the Obama team didn't offer him anything in return once they made it to the White House. Anyone here from Vermont? What did Howard do after 2008? He seemed to disappear.

Yes he was the one who said we should compete in all 50 states.  Something I did and still continue to agree with. Democrats can't keep relying on swing states.  They need to shore up support in pink states. Virginia and Colorado used to be red and now they are blue.

The I Have a Scream speech is sadly his permanent legacy. No viable path back to high political office for him.

When you say something like that, you are entering a lottery. The grand prize is you get singled out for doxxing, and your life is upended if not outright ruined. The sad thing is dumbasses will keep saying stupid shit without thinking of potential consequences.

I'd been a bit out of the news loop the last few days, partly Christmas, mostly choice.  Today though I came across some stories about Laura Loomer leading the MAGA feud against Musk with regard to immigration.  It will be interesting to see which side Trump comes down on.  But yeah, Musk is right out calling Americans dumb.  And he hasn't even taken office yet.

MAGA only likes it when Trump calls them the uneducated. Because he loves the uneducated.

It's like this. Mr. Thiel owns Mr.  Vance and wants to install him and get rid of Mr. Trump. Mr. Musk wants to keep Mr. Trump because he owes Mr. Musk oodles of money and he will do as Mr. Musk tells him.

Even Gaetz has gotten into the fray:

Quote

"We welcomed the tech bros when they came running our way to avoid the 3rd grade teacher picking their kid’s gender - and the obvious Biden/Harris economic decline," Gaetz, R-Fla., wrote in a social media post on Thursday. "We did not ask them to engineer an immigration policy."

Ah, poor baby.  Didn't think the leopards would eat your face?  Thought your biggest worry was the made up crap about teachers and gender?  My heart is bleeding for all the MAGA who are suddenly realizing Trump has never cared about the issues they thought were important.  It's always been about the  money.  His money.

His money, their money. Tomato/tomahto. What kills me is this is the second time they fell for it. I mean once, okay, maybe you don't follow politics but TWICE!? We all lived through his last reign of terror but they think what? That he's changed? Let me laugh harder.

I know things are going to get really bad, if he tries everything that he campaigned on, but I am enjoying the leopards eating well, before he's even in office.

As we keep saying we didn't vote for Musk and I think some MAGA voters are realizing they did in fact vote for Musk.

Did they really think Trump would be the one to come up with the policies?  All Trump knows is slogans. Build the wall.  Drill baby drill.  The actual governing he leaves to other  people.  In this case Musk.

Is it really doxxing when you use your legal name to spew hatred? I ask because addresses are public records, and it's incredibly easy to find out where someone lives. Nick could have done a few things to make it harder for any keyboard warrior to find out where he lives and works.

I feel the same about Elon freaking out about the elonsjet Twitter handle that tracked Elon's comings and goings back before ownership changed. The person behind that account did nothing illegal because flight tracking is also a public record.

I was told I just needed to vote. I did. Still, this happened.

And donate. I was so angry when Roe was overturned, and I immediately received emails and texts, telling me that it was our fault, we hadn't donated enough to the Democrats. I was tired of hearing from multi-millionaires (some of them are), telling me that they needed some of our money, when we weren't signing up for streaming services that cost $6-$11, because we have to be careful all the time. I didn't buy a newish hardback book that would have cost me $9, last night, for the same reason.

I donated to Kamala, Gallegos in Arizona and Tester in Montana. I donate to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and a local cat rescue. My husband has his own causes. We tried, at least we won in Montana and AZ.

I just knocked another $9 off the credit card monthly bill, by cancelling something else. One of my goals is to be able to donate something directly to a cause I support, when I can. I'm really tired of saying, "I can't afford to donate". But I'm also not going to have Nancy Pelosi, or anyone else, telling me that *I* didn't do enough. Especially when they're attacking progressives, who are also trying.

I too have causes that I donate to specifically children, wildlife and the environment. I’ve donated to Planned Parenthood and when Roe fell it hit me like a death in the family.
But yeah I’ve donated too much money to too many candidates and that’s the end for me.

I’m not getting the return on my investment and political contributions aren’t tax deductible

Dear god, he's such a fucking dumbass. Don't you have some legal issues you've got to deal with ,Gaetz? Sit down and shut the fuck up.

I am very much here for the GOP imploding on itself and taking everyone in that party down all at once. If they could somehow do that in a way that spares the rest of us as much of the fallout as possible, all the better as far as I'm concerned.
