Good episode - compelling case and a good investigation/manhunt, I liked how they pieced it together.
I did think it was a bit odd that the prison didn’t notice the escape until after the FBI realized it - maybe the prison employee helping with the escape played a part in that, that was a good twist.

It was interesting how the bullpen at 26 Fed was empty at the start, usually its bustling with people, I wondered what was going on and why it was just Jubal, Kelly and Elise there to begin with.

It was weird that Scola’s partner is leaving after this episode, I’m not sure what the point in having an agent join for 1 case and then leave was, and I wasn’t sure why she was leaving either, just because she didn’t want to follow Tiffany? I didn’t really care for this agent but it was an odd storyline.

I liked Jubal’s scenes as usual but I wondered what happened to his ex’s new boyfriend, I remember his ex was seeing a new guy but he hasn’t been shown in a while so I guess they broke up.

They are continuing the plot with the team being under a microscope because of the clash with the CIA, it was interesting to see some tension between Isobel/Maggie because of that. I wonder when that will come up again.

I already have a bad feeling about OA’s army buddy, I think he’s going to cause some trouble for OA soon.

Overall a solid episode that sets up some interesting storylines as well.

If I was the new girl, I wouldn’t want to deal with Maggie. Scola was a little over the top about Tiffany, but Maggie jumped all up her ass about one comment. I agree the comment was insensitive, but Maggie was too intense for me. I didn’t like her with Isobel either. I get that they disagreed, but Isobel is her boss. A little respect is warranted. I was actually wishing Isobel had held her ground. Her plan was interesting in a pretty basic, though not bad, story.

I found it odd that the prison had no idea they had had a breakout. Particularly a prisoner like the killer. You’d think he’d be watched a little better than that. Wasn’t he in for several murders?

I did like the case overall. the personal stuff was more mixed. Jubal’s plan sounds awful. I can’t believe his ex went for it so easily. OA’s friend screams bad things coming. It’s just a matter of time. I’m still not sure about his girlfriend either.

I don't watch this franchise enough to make sense of the season/series arcs.

I came in wondering why the FBI got the initial call, wouldn't New York State Police have that role for helping an overwhelmed local police? The FBI could easily be punched into the story when evidence that a federal prisoner was at the crime scene and the escape was quickly discovered.

I wouldn't expect full units to be working 24/7, they would need rest to be able to surge operations when a child is kidnapped.

A rookie agent gets a high powered team as her first assignment, in New York no less just transfers out after one case. I guess that's the end of prestigious assignments for her.

Elise looked smokin' in that outfit - I wish they'd make her Scola's partner. She's more likeable and charismatic than sticks-in-the-mud Tiffany and Maggie. So was the crooked lady guard, for that matter.

They probably filmed two endings, one staying and one going, with the decision being made during the post-processing period as to whether to keep her or try someone else. She wasn't particularly impressive. The comment about leaving because she didn't wast want to have to try to fill Tiffany's shoes? What a laugh! Tiffany has been the worst agent they had, right from the moment she got there. She ignored protocol and direct instructions on a regular basis, was belligerent when reprimanded, and maintained her insubordinate behaviour even after being warned about it.

Isobel was pretty easy on Maggie. Under the circumstances I'd have sent her home until further notice and advised her that if she didn't hear from me within 4 weeks to consider herself fired.

OA's fingerprints are on that bug of his army buddy. Nothing good is coming out of this...

So it was OA who placed the bug and not the buddy who had saved his life in Afghanistan? I wasn't sure if OA just did the distracting with picture taking while the buddy placed the bug, or if OA did both.
Or do you mean OA's prints are on the bug from when he shoved it back to the buddy? If so, would the buddy's later prints hide OA's?

OA is always the first to stand on principle! Until his buddy asks him to perform an unethical act. 30 seconds later, the hypocrite is 100% on board. Hope he gets his ass fired along with Maggie "I Must Have Two Million Dollars!  Bell and Jubal "Let Me Tell You To Do The Job You're Already Doing" Valentine. Then, only Scola will remain and they can cast three new agents who hopefully won't be so insufferable. (No need to replace Jubal - He is 100% unnecessary.)

I say this every season - usually every episode: Why am I still watching this shit?

He picked it up and handed back to his Ranger buddy but did serve as a distraction

So his prints would still be retrievable?
Or not?
The bug was pretty tiny.
So it's not like their prints would be side-by-side.

I was relieved when the new agent left, as I wasn't too fond of her. Maybe she'd have grown on me. I did think it was an interesting case and investigation. Prison guard being in on it was a nice twist (and explains how they could get away with the escape), though she should have known better than to have trusted a cold-blooded killer. At least he also died in the end (I actually went "ooh!" when he got hit by the car).

I recall a real life case like this in the news a few years ago.

This episode is unfocused, too many B plots — a quitter newbie, OA being blackmailed by his old army buddy and Jubal’s family drama.

Sam is engaged to be married to someone else (in S02•E05), the reason why she moved the kids to the suburbs. What happens to her fiancé? Why would Jubal want to move in and sleep on their couch? Jubal knows how toxic she can be, she loves blaming him for everything.

The prison guard is played by Ashlie Atkinson, of course she’s gonna be bad.

Tiff left a little note for Scola’s new partner. That’s sweet… 😊

I laughed. I was like, you planned all this out and you couldn't take two seconds to look both ways before you crossed the street?

That’s not really how TV production works. First, filming two endings would be expensive and time consuming. Second, the next episode would be filming while post-production is being done on the previous episode. The script would already be written, the actors hired. They need to churn out 20-22 episodes, no one has time to sit around waiting for major plot points to be worked out post-production.  I assume they wanted to show (again) how hard it is to join an established unit and we’ll see the real new partner soon.

I have not read anything on the internet, so this is just a guess: whichever new actor/actress that is coming in isn’t available yet, so it’s a revolving new partner until they are available.

As to this new partner’s reason for leaving: unless she’s transferred to a newly created position- she’s going to be following someone  who left.  So suck it up.
