This episode cracked me up. I laughed out loud at the reveal that Malcolm threw a surprise party for Evan at a leather bar even though it was predictable.  It was still hilarious.

Harry returned.  I was rooting for a threesome.

Wow Evan was kinda cold-hearted to that student at the start. I felt bad for him.

I liked the fake-out moment when he chose Malcolm, I totally expected him to go for the teacher guy. And they played the same song that they played in episode 1 when they had their kiss that ended in Malcolm leaving his job.

Eight episodes wasn't enough! But since the season is over I'm calling it: Favourite character: Markie.

I hope next season will have a bigger episode order because the show seems to be received positively.

Damn, I didn't realize this was the season finale. I really enjoyed the show. Even though Evan can be really hard to root for. He was a real dick to that poor kid asking for advice on coming out.

So Harry wasn't gone, he was there but just avoiding Evan. Someone on last week's thread claimed he was just a substitute but I went back and watched the pilot and that wasn't the case. They said he was the new physics teacher filling in for Jennifer for the semester . . . and maybe the year if she did well on The Amazing Race. (Even: "I can't believe she got on that show with a hernia.") I fully expected Evan to go for Harry but I was kind of pleasantly surprised he went for Malcolm. After what happened last week, the fact that Malcolm would still throw him a birthday party speaks to how much he really cares about him.

I also loved seeing the funny waiter again, I said in the Homecoming episode I wouldn't mind him becoming a recurring character.

The music on this show is great. I hope we get a second season.

Me too. I was hoping that was going to be the focus of the episode. Evan gives the kid horrible advice and then has to spend the rest of the episode dealing with it, and not being able to enjoy to his birthday party because he's thinking about how he messed up with the student.

I like that Markie wasn't really bothered that gay men found him attractive or more or less hitting on him.

I love episodes contained in time and space, so I should have loved this episode, but it didn't do it for me. I wish the other storylines had been more developed and were more interesting.

8 episodes is not a long enough season for a sitcom.

I also didn't know this was the finale.

Enjoyed the season.  Has it been officially picked up for season 2?

I didn't like him picking Malcom though.  It won't last.

Gwen should dump her loser BF.  She can do better.

I thought he was going to help the kid and then the episode was going to be that he got in trouble for doing it. But of course that's off-brand for Evan, who is an irritible type more than a nurturer or problem-solver.

He is way too self-centered to be the person that kid needed at the moment.

Although… was Evan’s advice to the kid good advice? Especially to avoid the nondenominational queer kids who were probably straight?

The 90s were different. We don’t like it now when Boomers give us outdated advice.

He delivered said advice horribly though.

It was cynical.  Horribly delivered.  And he probably does have something to offer (or should if he were a better person) than nothing.  But the kid probably would get a better perspective of what it's like to be gay in high school from his out peers.

If Evan just turned 35, he was a young child during the 90s.  Not to mention, he's about two generations removed from the baby boomers.  But yeah, he was awful with his student.
