I don't know if the students represent what high school kids are really like these days or if they are just a parody of what a lot of people think they're like these days. And I'm not sure which is worse. Good grief, they are awful. I did get a laugh out of Evan reading some of their essays. At least Linda's kid had the decency to be mortified by his mother.

Linda was a great character though, and good callback to the mom obsessed with sex games.

I liked this one a lot. I did wonder why he didn't give them the do-over option sooner, and he really should get better at managing school politics and making a lucid and not spluttering argument to the crowd, but still-- good episode.

I like that Evan is a mess in terms of navigating school politics. He means well, but he is in way over his head and that is fun to watch. I think he was so bent on his "noble crusade" and taking a stand he did not stop to consider alternatives.

I am completely and totally on board with her being a recurring character/running gag.

Overall, I liked this episode. I have decided the series is at its strongest when Evan has to react to the parents or the students and is it weakest when the focus is Evan's interpersonal drama with the other teachers.

He would not have had to fail the whole class.

In spite of generalizations people like to make about generations, I think every generation has similar archetypes that only seem different because of the technology or assessment methods being used, but their behavior and motivation are similar.  There are always going to be lazy types that look for shortcuts like ChatGPT. In the past, those types would have done straight-up plagiarism or bought papers. There are always going to be bad or mediocre students who try but can't help but make funny mistakes.  I once had a student write an essay that used 2 much cht speak. The content wasn't bad.  He just needed to work on writing mechanics. And there are always going to be good students who wouldn't consider cheating, who'd have no problem completing an essay like this, and they'd do a great job.

Speaking of the ChatGPT essay that the principal read from.  I absolutely loved the joke that the student didn't read through the ChatGPT output so they missed that, right in the middle of the essay, ChatGPT straight out says it's a generative AI tool and therefore can't do part of what it's being asked to do. I remember classmates getting in trouble because they used Google translate to do Spanish homework.  But one of the issues with Google translate, especially in its early years, was that if it didn't know the translation for a word, it's just leave it in English.  It was pretty easy for the Spanish teachers to catch those.

It’s good that Principal Moretti makes Evan untangle his own mess. There has to be a lot of Linda out there and avoiding them will not solve any problems.

The level of pettiness in Linda is annoying but also amusing. She whispers the word “gay” while claiming she’s totally cool with gay people. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sharon keeps spewing sex game jargons that I really don’t wanna know. 😩

Gwen darling, you shouldn’t have listened to Markie!

What was it this time? Reverse glory hole? WTF. I don't even wanna know.

It was Reverse Glory Hole. I think it's better and funnier if they don't tell you what it is. It reminds me of the Venus Butterfly from L.A. Law; all you knew was that it required food or something else you could order from room service at a hotel.

Her first words after realizing she was okay should have been "I forgot my pencil." Get-X or Millennial, most people in both generations watched all the 1980s teen movies that were in heavy rotation on cable in the 1990s and early 2000s.

I can only assume a reverse glory hole covers a person's genitals but reveals the rest of them. That may be an overly naive interpretation, though!

I didn't enjoy this as much as the last one, because I didn't find Linda funny at all. I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of her, either. The brief moment of Sharon in the episode was a reminder of how much funnier the show can be.

I'm surprised we haven't seen Harry since episode 3.

For those who even remember the show from 20-something years ago, she reminds me a little too much of the "smell that shoe" parent from Boston Public.  It was a Fox show from David E. Kelley that took place at a public school in Boston.  Her shtick was demanding teachers or administrators at the school smell one of her kid's shoes whenever she wanted to complain about something.  She became a running gag on the show.

She's kind of a mixed bag.  She's funny in the sense that everything about her is so over the top.  On the other hand, she's also just a bully who is so morally bankrupt that she's only tolerates her kid being gay so long as it doesn't implicate her social standing.
