Because she believes Niles is a rich American and wants to show off her good fortune to her family and friends. But I do believe when and if he brings her to the US that Matilda will be a hardworking, and attentive partner to Niles.

I don’t know what the laws are in the Philippines but if Family Faith goes along with this harebrained scheme, as the mom’s husband, I imagine Loren would have a fair bit of power over the entire family’s finances. Makes me hate him even more. He had this planned. This was his plan all along.
