Re Bill's final New Rule: Private Catholic schools have more favorable statistics than public schools at least partly because those students who don't make the grade are kicked back to the public school system, which doesn't have that option. Bill either doesn't know or ignores this.

Almost laughable to watch Bill argue with Jordan Peterson about the sexual revolution. So young people are having less sexual activity than they used to -- and that is bad why, Bill? As usual, he blames cell phones and the internet. And the concept of "asexuality" appears totally unfathomable to him. (But I do agree with Bill about Mike Johnson and his son monitoring each other. Creepy!)

Bill has been lauded for bringing conservatives like Ted Cruz on the show.          (I know, Cruz had a new book to plug.) In fact, Bill will welcome anyone -- regardless of their politics -- who agrees with him about "wokeness", the Israeli-Hamas conflict, etc.

I've said this before, but it bears repeating: Bill's world view boils down to, Why can't everyone be like me

I must have some kind of masochistic streak. How many times have I sworn off Real Time forever, only to end up watching the next week? (Sigh

I don't have kids, but I've said before if I had them, I would be strict. My idea of strict is not allowing small kids social media or their own phones period. I can understand concerns about what a teenager views and parental controls (especially for early teens), but the above arrangement is too invasive and creepy. I know porn can be damaging, but so can purity culture. And wouldn't a parent being that against porn make it that much more enticing?

Nope.  No.  Huh uh.  I can grit my teeth and power through many of the insults Bill launches at my sensibilities.  Because exposure to other perspectives is important and because sometimes he provokes me into examining my own ideology.

But I'm not holding still for Ted Cruz.

The difference between “defund the police” and “anti-abortion” (besides the fact that it was never a party platform) is that democratic states did not remove all funding from the police or try to pass laws that did so, unlike many republican states and abortion.   And yes it can be hung around trumps neck, it should.

people aren’t stupid, you take away one right, it’s a slippery slope to taking away more.  The gop should know that argument, they make it all the time against gun control.

Everyone is talking about these polls.  All it means is people aren’t thrilled about voting for Biden, but they will if he’s the final choice.

please blaming Biden for these wars?  sure. What a stretch.  Bill is right that if you want to blame a president for pulling out of an agreement try trump with Iran.

Considering how expensive phones are, how can any parent give one to a child?  They break things.

yeah this is why we have a teacher shortage. But god forbid the school disciplines kids, they get sued by parents who don’t parent, but are thrilled to get money.

and yes don’t follow the rules in catholic or any other private school and you get kicked out.  Plus, generally only richer families can afford private school.

and before he starts singing the praises of homeschooling, maybe bill should watch John Oliver.

Pamela Paul was good.  Really didn’t need the rest.

I agree that people should talk to each other, and have to give some credit to Sen. Cruz for stopping by Real Time, with its presumably hostile audience for him. But I’m not sure on balance his appearance furthered any real conversation. After some synergistic anti-woke ranting, real conversation never got off the ground because Sen. Cruz refused to answer for his past or present positions on election denial. Instead, as with the appearance of Steve Bannon on Real Time a while back, the guest shamelessly spewed the same Maga base-friendly talking points, deflected and relied on “whataboutisms” to complain about Hillary. Beyond helping Sen. Cruz sell a few books, I’m not sure how this helps anybody or how anyone would understand anything better from hearing from “the other side” as presented here.

It’s easier said than done.  I said I’d never ever let my kids have phones or social media but that’s how they communicate with friends.  It’s also how I can track them when they go out.  I like that I can track my 10 year old when he goes on a bike ride.  They can use Apple Pay to get a snack, so they don’t need to have cash.  There are useful things.  And I get to look at their phones whenever I want to be sure they are not texting weirdos or whatever.

I totally understand that. Don’t understand Mike Johnson’s parenting.

I agree, I get wanting to monitor your kids porn watching.. it’s gross but it can be like an addiction.  I cannot grasp the app that he uses that allows his son to monitor HIS porn watching.  That’s a weird parenting decision.

Every day, the app Covenant Eyes sends a report of websites viewed to one's designated accountability partner (in the Duggar family, it's Michelle, wife and mother). Felon Josh Duggar used a Linux partition to avoid detection by his wife when he downloaded and viewed child porn.

Using your kid as an accountability partner is weird, even if they are legal adults.
