Ethan is totally reminding me of Jordan Catalano (Jared Leto) from My So-Called Life.  The same vibe and personality and he even has those big pretty eyes.  I bet the descriptor "a Jordan Catalano type" was even listed on the casting sheet when they were auditioning actors.

(And because it can't not be said when My-So Called Life gets a mention -- best show ever and I am still mad all these years later at it's tragically premature cancellation.)

1. In the most ridiculous way ever. As someone who's been a high school assistant coach both during and after college, non-faculty assistant coach is a seasonal, part time job. They aren't giving you an office, even a shitty one, to hang around school all day for no reason. They don't particularly want you on school grounds until practice time after school even if you're an adult. An 18 year old that has dated current students and is going to student parties....😅😅😅 

And a young sub love interest for him...🙄

2. That was obvious from the first meeting in the principal's office. I guess this contractor has never heard if giving an estimate or getting consent for work.

Not loving this season. It's always had it's share of ridiculousness, but it was fun. This just feels lazy and stupid.

Yeah it is pathetic of Paxton to drop out of ASU to go back to high school.

Is Sherman Oaks really that diverse or does it look like United Colors of Benetton as this show depicts?

It’s still predominantly white, then 14% Hispanic and 8% Asian. I was in a predominantly white high school but my friend group was very diverse, so it makes sense that the minorities flock towards each other.

Tattoos are a symbol of nothing anymore. They have been turned into a fad instead of a symbol of a certain lifestyle & rebellion. It sucks that it has been normalized. 
legal age for a tattoo in California is 18, is he 18? 
As someone nowhere near as young as these actors, is rampant sex, large tattoos & such diversity in school common now? This show is making me wonder.

Likely the tattoos would not have been shown if Mindy Kaling didn’t think they were a good shortcut to tell the audience that this fresh faced boy was also making some questionable choices (putting permanent symbols on his body at a young age).

Further character revelation: he got the tattoos before he was legally old enough to have them done. 
Kind of like 15 and 16-year-olds lying about their age to run off and join the army. Or like underage drinking, especially to excess

You can get a tattoo (just like a piercing) as a minor with parental consent. Especially if his parents have them I could see them saying “okay if you want one I will take you”. 
 

Teens think about sex a lot, actually sex in school is ramped up for drama and as far as diversity, it really depends on where you live and the type of school you go to.

Yes that often happens. Given this show is about Devi and her experiences, makes sense her friend group would be diverse.
