I was all over the Candy forum, here we go again....

Just started watching and they are wrong not to have Candy's permed hairdo.

OMG! What did I watch??? The 1st sex scene was really awkward and controlled. 

Betty in Candy is depressed and introverted but in LAD, Betty is uptight and domineering.

It isn't Candy Montgomery without that unattractive permed hair and her signature glasses. They have created the glamorous, prettier version of her.

"I mean, he'd be fall-in-love-proof anyway."

These lines made me laughed because this Allan Gore is really dull. Never French kiss, for real?? Betty must be a terrible kisser.

Allan in Candy is taller, a bit more athletic and attractive. Sorry Jesse Plemons.

Krysten Ritter (who I usually love) looks more late 1980's than late '70's.

I thought I read awhile back that Elizabeth Olsen refused to wear the permed curly hair, they should have at least had her wear those glasses. I agree they are making Candy too attractive.

I just did a Google search for the real people, and none of these actors come close to looking like the real people. I realize this is just my personal pet peeve because I prefer the actor to have at least some physical resemblance to the real-life person they are portraying. 

I have never heard of this case. After watching this, I will watch Hulu's offer.

Didn't hold my attention because I've already seen Candy.

However I kept wondering if we were seeing Plemons' real hair. In this series it resembles a hairy gourd. (I like his work in other productions.)

His hair is really bad in this!

I'm wondering why they made him so repellant-looking, all broad-faced and sweaty, with bad hair.  Jesse Plemons doesn't look that bad in real life and neither did the real Allen Gore.

The differences between Jesse Plemons and Pablo Schreiber are staggering IMO. 

I also watched Candy so I'm interested to see how this show will portray everything. So far Pat seems like a non-entity and they're making Betty a bit more unlikable in this one.

Not sure why they felt the need for another show about Candy. I did like the one with Jessica Biehl. I can’t see a pretty woman like Elizabeth Olsen fall in love with a guy who looks like Jesse Plemons. He is really sweaty and unattractive in this.

I don’t think most affairs are based on physical appearance, ultimately.

There is usually attraction which starts the affair but the motive isn’t necessarily to find someone more attractive than your spouse. Don’t see anything personality wise with Jesse’s portrayal either.

I’m on episode three, and so far, this is holding my interest more than “candy”. I didn’t finish that, but I will go back to it.
