I know it was in 'import' to CW, but how about Serinda Swan?

Laura Vandervoort would be my choice, had a huge crush on her when I was a teenager, plus she's Canadian and the show is filmed there

Wow, even by Vancouver working actor standards, her CW credentials are strong!

So, I just got into this show a bit late going by this thread. Did this show first air in Canada in 2021, and only now in the USA? And if so, has Canada seen S02 yet? Like many here have said, the storylines are a bit OTT, and I have to suspend my WTF meter while watching this show, but I love the scenery, it's like a mini vacay. And I like most of the main characters so far.

No, it is an American show filmed in Canada, the first episode aired February 11, 2024. You are seeing new episodes the same time as everybody else in the world.

Ah thanks! I just realized that it was talked about in 2021/2022 because it got caught in the writers strike IIRC.

'Tracker's Justin Hartley Will Reunite With His 'This Is Us' Co-Star Jennifer Morrison [Exclusive]

Hartley teased her appearance, saying:

Quote

“ I’ll give you a little tidbit, in the finale, we have Jennifer Morrison coming on to play a key role. I haven’t worked with her since This Is Us , and she comes on as an old family friend of Colter’s, from way back when they were kids. And so, that whole family dynamic leaks out a little bit through her experience with him in the finale. So, there’s that. I probably wasn’t supposed to tell you that, but it’s all good."

This Is Us Reunion: Jennifer Morrison Joins Justin Hartley in Tracker Finale — See First Photo

Quote

Airing on Sunday, May 19 (9/8c), the show’s first season finale finds Colter investigating the disappearance of two storm chasers — one of whom is the daughter of Morrison’s Lizzy Hawking, an old family friend — believed by local police to have accidentally drowned. But there’s always more to the story, so Hartley’s character makes sure to “uncover the seedy underbelly of a small town resort” in the process.

Ugh is right.  This RL couple has no on-screen chemistry.

Not all RL couples can electrify a screen like Jared & Gen Padalecki, but you'd think there'd be some sort of tension considering Colter & Billie have history.  Instead the interactions betwee the two felt forced.

A few interesting tidbits and info from the Tracker panel for TV Critics Association's Summer press tour this morning. Possible spoilers

- There will be 22 episodes this upcoming season

- Jensen Ackles will return this season for more than one episode

- The character of Velma will take on an interesting role with something that was teased with Reenie's character as Reenie tries to open up her own business and Velma works with her, though she'll still be working with Colter

There's been a change to the premiere date. The new season will now premiere earlier on October 13 at 8pm ET/PT. For a couple of weeks, it will be shown at 8:30pm (due to football for at least that 2nd week), then after that, back to its usual 8pm slot

Tracker Shake-Up: Robin Weigert Out Ahead of Season 2 (Exclusive)

Quote

Tracker will be down a handler this fall. TVLine can exclusively confirm that Robin Weigert, who co-starred as Teddi Bruin in Season 1, will not return as a series regular for Season 2 of the Justin Hartley drama. No word yet on how Weigert’s exit will be explained on screen. Both CBS and 20th Television declined comment.

Quote

Despite Teddi’s absence, Abby McEnany, who plays Teddi’s wife (and Colter Shaw’s fellow handler) Velma, will be back. Showrunner Elwood Reid previously told TVLine that the Season 2 opener will see Velma “taking on a very interesting role with something that was hinted at with Reenie’s character in the final couple episodes” of Season 1.

Well, they weren't doing much with his handlers in the first place; but it's not great that they're losing cast members so soon.

I don't blame her if she wanted to leave, because they were wasting her. But I resent that they didn't use her, and now we've got only half of the lesbian couple. Maybe Abby gets a new lover, but I don;'t trust the show to do anything interesting anymore, and it's depressing because the bones of a great show are there, but they have at every turn taken the blandest turn possible.

The rumor was that one of the ladies was going to start working for Reenie after she leaves her law firm and starts working for herself. I guess we know which one that will be now.

It's not surprising because they seemed to get less to do as the show when on and not more. But it is disappointing and a massive shame that they couldn't figure out more to do with them. They didn't do much with Exley either but at least he got one episode where he met up with Colter in person and was part of the action rather than just having one scene.

Fall TV Preview 2024: Exclusive Scoop and Photos on 25+ Returning Favorites!

spacer.png

After introducing Colter’s siblings Russell (Jensen Ackles) and Dory (Melissa Roxburgh) in Season 1, and revealing how “all three of those kids had a different childhood” following their father’s death — “Colter is probably the most f—ked up,” showrunner Elwood Reid posits to TVLine — Season 2 of the Justin Hartley drama will explore not only the depths to which Colter was impacted by this profound loss, but how “other people see what he went through.” New episodes will also feature the return of Wendy Crewson as Colter’s mysterious mother Mary, who was last seen all the way back in Episode 2. “You’re going to see a good bit of her,” Reid promises. “We still need to build out what exactly happened [after] their father’s death. Remember, Dory went to go live with an aunt and uncle… [Russell] joined the military…. They each have pieces of the story, from different sides, that they’ve never shared with Colter.” And once Colter begins to question why Dory kept secret that she was in possession of a box of their father’s journals, “some of the motivations behind what [Mary] was doing with Colter and why she was trying to protect him are going to come out, and it may not be what you think it is.”

BONUS SPOILER!: Expect to learn plenty more about Abby McEnany’s Velma in Season 2. “One of the goals is going to be understanding what her genesis with Colter was, and what she thinks her role could be going forward,” Reid says. “She’s going to have some heartache this year,” following the series departure of Robin Weigert’s Teddi, “and we’re going to see her relationship with Reenie really blossom” as the attorney embarks upon a new business venture.

RETURN DATE: Sunday, Oct. 13, at 8/7c (CBS)

Great! Why couldn't we have had the Velma / Teddi / Colter team-origin story last Season?  I'm going to miss Ms. Weigert.

Lesbians are only allowed to have storylines if they are suffering from heartache.

They should put Velma and Reenie together as a couple and forget about the banter between Reenie and Colter. Let the women be happy for once, and not just make them accessries for the dude.

Again, I don't think this show needs an angsty central mystery. I just want them to tell us what happened and move on; but I know this is something that will be drawn out for the whole season. I just hope they have a little more fun (and less murder) with the cases of the week.

Don't all TV dramas now have central mysteries of some sort? Of course I don't watch all of them, but besides the case/story/plot of the episode, seems like there's always some continuing story with the characters or some event that is being revealed thruout the season or several seasons.

That being said, I do prefer watching stories unfold that are self-contained in the ep.

I don't mind an on-going story, but I'm burnt out on the angsty emo trauma porn.

Me too. Pretty much all dramas do seem to have big angsty emo trauma though, even if the story doesn't *actually* require it. It's especially bad on some of the single protagonist or two partner shows because the show runners seem to think we need big mystery/mythology episodes to keep us tuning in, with ensembles there seems to be more variety in set up even if it is serialised. At least "Bones" wrapped up her family drama relatively quickly but then kept introducing various "biggest challenge yet" serial killers. It's been going on at least since the X Files and I'm sure before that so I don't see it ending as a template for shows any time soon. I suppose I should be grateful that it was Russell that joined the military and not Colter as well otherwise we'd have the extra double whammy of mil-batross and parentmagendon.

I didn't hate Reenie and Colter but their banter wasn't anything special so I'm interested in seeing her work with Velma this season. At least she'll have a reason to drop everything at a moment's notice and work exclusively on a Colter case now. It got really stupid the excuses they made for her flying all over the country for him.

They really should have done more with Teddie and Velma though, at least a flashback ep or one where they meet face to face. But they finally decide to give Velma a story when Robin Weigert leaves. Yeah you're right @possibilities.

Actually, as far as I can see, the family drama is the only thing (other than the names of some of the characters and the fact that Colter collects rewards) that's carried over from the books.  So I don't mind it.  I haven't read all the books yet but the show seems to be following that part fairly accurately.   It hasn't gone too far into trauma porn for me (yet).

TBH,  I haven't seen Colter change expressions other than how deeply furrowed his brow gets.  I guess that's his version of angsty emo.  ☺️

Abs can only emote so much, I guess. At some point, the facial muscles also need to learn to act.
