Sandman87 January 29, 2016 Author Share January 29, 2016 I don't think I'll be paying much attention in the future to Tom's game reviews. He gave Fallout 4 a score of 9 out of 10, which I know from trying it out would much too generous even if it weren't buggy as hell. Link to comment
Lantern7 February 7, 2016 Share February 7, 2016 Heads up . .. tonight's Samurai Champloo features the epic eating contest. Classic stuff. Link to comment
themajormotoko February 8, 2016 Share February 8, 2016 With Akama Ga Kill only having 2 episodes left, has anyone heard what will replace it on the Toonami schedule? Link to comment
Lantern7 February 9, 2016 Share February 9, 2016 I did a search for "Toonami, February 27." The first result was from the Adult Swim forum, suggesting that Psycho Pass fill the 12:30 slot. When I clicked the link, the post had been taken down. Link to comment
InDueTime February 13, 2016 Share February 13, 2016 Dimension W is taking Akame ga Kill's spot on Feb 27. Link to comment
Lantern7 February 13, 2016 Share February 13, 2016 Sounds . . . meh. I'm still waiting for Toonami to bump Naruto: Shippuden and One Piece to better times. Also, after reading some of the manga, I hope there's room for One Punch Man down the road. Link to comment
weyrbunny February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 Two of my coworkers won't shut up about One-Punch Man, so I'm curious about it as well. I'm guessing it has to finish on Daisuki or wherever, before it can show up on Toonami. Too bad about Psycho Pass--It's been on my watch-someday list for a couple years now. Dimension W's description isn't ringing any originality bells, but the reviews have been solid, at least. Link to comment
Lantern7 February 17, 2016 Share February 17, 2016 Here's the Toonami promo for Dimension W. Nice to have Zoriccolo voicing the main guy. Link to comment
themajormotoko February 21, 2016 Share February 21, 2016 I've seen a few episodes of One Punch Man on Hulu, My daughter raved about it, it's one of her current favorites. We watched it while she was on Christmas break from college. I think you will like it weyrbunny. I can't really described it, except to say that is zany, a bit off the wall, but has some pretty good action scenes. To the best of my knowledge, it has not been dubbed yet. The episodes we watched were all subbed. Dimension W looks potentially interesting. I have seen Pyscho Pass on Netflix. I was hoping that at some point that Darker than Black would be on the Toonami block, but it appears that Funimation no longer has the license to DTB. I wonder if they will ever show Ghost in the Shell: Arise. That show was on Netflix streaming, albeit as subs only. Link to comment
Sandman87 February 21, 2016 Author Share February 21, 2016 The "Meowpurrdy" video that ran during one of Naruto's breaks...I pity anyone who watches that while they're stoned. Genuine nightmare fuel which wouldn't be out of place in an episode of Off the Air. Here it is, just for anyone who missed it: Pleasant dreams... Link to comment
lathspel February 23, 2016 Share February 23, 2016 Agreed, that cat thing was intense. They've run several videos over the last few months that have been either amazing or slightly revolting, depending on taste. Link to comment
lathspel February 24, 2016 Share February 24, 2016 (edited) Dimension W forum is live! http://forums.previously.tv/forum/2376-dimension-w/ It's possible I enjoy making up forum thread titles from the Toonami teasers, more than some of these shows. (Akame ga Kill, I'm looking in your direction.) Edited February 24, 2016 by lathspel Link to comment
Lantern7 February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 I'm not watching DBZK, but I got a laugh from Toonami's Tumbr page. All I can hear is the Team Four Star version, where Goku exclaims, "Oh, no! Yamcha's been Yamchaed!!!" Any word as to what will replace Kill la Kill when its run finishes at 3 a.m.? Link to comment
InDueTime March 24, 2016 Share March 24, 2016 (edited) Toonami just announced that they're co-producing a 2nd and 3rd season of FLCL. Since April 1st is on a Friday, this likely isn't an April Fool's Day thing. https://m.facebook.com/Toonami/?refid=17&_ft_=top_level_post_id.10153948493286745%3Atl_objid.10153948493286745 Edited March 24, 2016 by InDueTime Link to comment
Lantern7 March 24, 2016 Share March 24, 2016 Huh??? FLCL is perfect at six episodes. Why mess with what has worked? Link to comment
Vermicious Knid March 25, 2016 Share March 25, 2016 I just saw that. Production IG now has the rights, it's their decision/money grab. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-03-24/toonami-to-co-produce-2-new-flcl-seasons/.100222 With Parasyte almost done have they announced what will replace it? Sandman87 March 26, 2016 Author Share March 26, 2016 They still haven't announced a definite date for the new Samurai Jack, so I'm hoping that's what it'll be. Link to comment
Vermicious Knid April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 2 weeks notice. It's Hunter x Hunter. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-04-02/adult-swim-toonami-to-run-hunter-x-hunter-tv-anime/.100577 ...I heard it's good? Link to comment
Lantern7 April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 I hear good things. I heard a rumor that Toonami was going to plug in Ergo Proxy, which aired on G4 ages ago. Aside from both sets of credits being set to Radiohead and a game show-themed episode, it made no impact on me. Any word on what will air at 3 a.m.? I'm hearing either Parasyte or Totally Spies! Link to comment
lathspel April 12, 2016 Share April 12, 2016 Hunter x Hunter starts this weekend! The art style doesn't do it for me, but Wikipedia says its a good story, so I'm ready to give it a try. http://forums.previously.tv/forum/2452-hunter-x-hunter/ (My thread titles lack a bit in the inspiration department, but at least there's a theme, sort of.) Lantern7 April 15, 2016 Share April 15, 2016 No sweat about the titles . . . I'll give it a few episodes before I think about changing them into something more appropriate. For anybody not into Samurai Champloo, here's Maijin Fuu. Good times. Link to comment
TheGreenKnight April 18, 2016 Share April 18, 2016 I'm glad I glanced at the listing for Toonami this week and saw Hunter x Hunter's premiere. I've always been curious about it since the same author created YuYu Hakusho. I loved Toonami when I was in school, but the revival hasn't included anything I was interested in before now. Lantern7 April 18, 2016 Share April 18, 2016 I DVR the 12:30-3 a.m. block. I skip Dragonball Z Kai because I prefer Team Four Star's abridgement. And I'm a bit stunned that the guy behind Hunter X Hunter was behind Yu Yu Hakusho. Is Gon truly the anti-Yusuke? I have to ask again . . . when a slot gets opened up on the schedule, what would you want to fill the void? When I found out that there was an anime special featuring characters from DBZ, One Piece and Toriko, I wound up picking up several volumes of the latter's manga. Interesting premise . .. imagine Pokémon, only the main characters seek to capture and cook their catches. Few of the animals are as adorable, but it is a neat hook. And Toriko himself is as big a chowhound as Goku and Luffy. Link to comment
Sandman87 April 19, 2016 Author Share April 19, 2016 Once they finish running Parasyte reruns, we're going to need something violent and gory to replace it. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 19, 2016 Share April 19, 2016 For the 3 a.m. slot, it'll probably be a repeat running of whatever wrapped up. I'm thinking either Dimension W or Samurai Champloo. I'm not revisiting Parasyte. It was good, but I need my DVR space. Link to comment
InDueTime April 22, 2016 Share April 22, 2016 With four episodes left for Dimension W, it'll soon be time to learn its replacement. I keep seeing rumors that it could be My Hero Academia. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 22, 2016 Share April 22, 2016 That's a pity. It always takes me a while to get to the adventures of Zorricolo and Budget Dorothy Wainwright, but I was hoping it would be as long as most anime. And what is My Hero Academia about? I think I've seen clips on Funimation's YouTube site. Link to comment
Sandman87 April 24, 2016 Author Share April 24, 2016 A note about the Samurai Champloo episode that ran tonight: The character Okuru is one of the Ainu People. That stringed instrument he played is a tonkori. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 30, 2016 Share April 30, 2016 I'm still waiting on the "Baseball Blues" episode because it's very funny to me. I liked it a lot, especially with a hematoma-addled Mugen giving the narrator a hard time. Saw a few "Meet The Heroes" clips from My Hero Academia. Seems too "kiddy" for Toonami. If this was an afternoon block, sure, you can pair it with Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. ETA: I like one of the transitions for Samurai Champloo .. . . before going into commercial, we get: "Without further ado . . . IT'S EXECUTION TIME!" Cue Jin and Fuu being lifted on crosses. It just seems funny to me for some reason. Link to comment
Vermicious Knid May 13, 2016 Share May 13, 2016 Will be showing Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. Haven't said when. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-05-12/adult-swim-to-air-gundam-iron-blooded-orphans-anime/.102043 I know nothing about this, but every Gundam series they've shown has bored me to tears. Except Gundam SD, because, cuuute. Link to comment
Sandman87 May 13, 2016 Author Share May 13, 2016 "Iron Blooded Orphans"? Meaning that they're not anemic from lack of hemoglobin? Not exactly an impressive title, sort of like "Gundam: Waifs Without Allergies!" I enjoyed the first three series in the Gundam franchise, but haven't watched any that came after. I just couldn't get excited about it if there was no chance at all of seeing Bright Noa slapping the fail out of some whiny teen protagonist. Link to comment
Lantern7 May 13, 2016 Share May 13, 2016 "Iron-Blooded Orphans"? I went to an anime con last week, and they were screening that in an empty room. I think it was more about the con's first year as opposed to the popularity of the franchise. As for past incarnations: I'm partial to SD Gundam and G-Gundam. That was off the chain nuts. "SHINING FINGER!!!!" ETA: Saw the schedule for next week. Looks like we're getting two episodes of Dragonball Z Kai. Um . . . yay? Link to comment
Lantern7 May 22, 2016 Share May 22, 2016 Funny . . . two shows on Toonami this evening have characters running from pigs. Check here and here. They should have aired the episode of Naruto where he arrives at the next stage of the chunin exams after getting chased by pigs. Or am I not remembering that correctly? In case you didn't see the commercial, there's going to be a Samurai Champloo marathon next Saturday. Link to comment
InDueTime May 29, 2016 Share May 29, 2016 According to the Toonami Wiki, Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans premieres June 4 at 12:00 ET. Plus, Toonami will now start at 11:30 ET. http://toonami.wikia.com/wiki/Toonami_Wiki Link to comment
Lantern7 May 29, 2016 Share May 29, 2016 Also, the lineup will be shifted to end at 3 a.m. I'm thinking it'll start with DBZ Kai, followed by IBO, then Hunter x Hunter and the rest. And here's the IBO teaser: Shirtless pilots? Is that to show how bad off the protagonists are, or is that fanservice? Link to comment
Terrafamilia May 29, 2016 Share May 29, 2016 14 hours ago, Lantern7 said: Shirtless pilots? Is that to show how bad off the protagonists are, or is that fanservice? Hey, it worked for Kamina. Bye the way, does PreviouslyTV have a motivator forum? Link to comment
Lantern7 May 29, 2016 Share May 29, 2016 Why, yes. Yes, it does. I haven't felt the need to make a poster lately, but I'd like to see new entries. Forgot about Kamina. Maybe IBO is inspired by Gurren Lagan? If a lispy dude in green hair implores the main character to give the ignition a mighty tug, I might get upset. 1 Link to comment
lathspel June 7, 2016 Share June 7, 2016 I didn't hate IBO, but somehow the fact that all the voice actors are so familiar is really obvious on this show. My wife is all "didn't you already watch that show?", and I can't really blame her. Link to comment
Lantern7 June 7, 2016 Share June 7, 2016 I gotta catch up. I feel compelled to mention that the "Baseball Blues" episode of Samurai Champloo will air on Saturday. I'm a sucker for sports-related episodes, and the show is nuts enough already. Link to comment
Sandman87 June 8, 2016 Author Share June 8, 2016 The MSG:IBO forum is now open. On Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 2:37 PM, Lantern7 said: Forgot about Kamina. Maybe IBO is inspired by Gurren Lagan? If a lispy dude in green hair implores the main character to give the ignition a mighty tug, I might get upset. Or "a manly twist." But seriously, I can't even comprehend a Gundam show being anything like Gurren Lagann. The franchise has traditionally been partially about the horrors of war. It would be like Alien being inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Link to comment
Lantern7 June 12, 2016 Share June 12, 2016 Here's a GIF from "Baseball Blues." Apparently, Mugen was the Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughan of the Nineteenth Century. ETA: "I am an American! Yankee Doodle!!" "Shaddup!" Link to comment
InDueTime June 19, 2016 Share June 19, 2016 Here's a promotional poster and some info about the new Samurai Jack: http://moviepilot.com/posts/3967959 Maybe it will replace Samurai Champloo once that concludes in July. Link to comment
Lantern7 June 20, 2016 Share June 20, 2016 Peeled off the first volume of Assassonatina Classroom this morning. Totally would not be surprised if this make Toonami. Premise: Wacky alien blows up most of the moon, threatens to do the same to Earth if students on the lowest rung of school don't kill him inside of a year. Anytime I see Koro Sensai, I keep hearing Lord Death from Soul Eater. Link to comment
Sandman87 June 21, 2016 Author Share June 21, 2016 From your description it almost sounds like an anime version of Invader Zim. Link to comment
Lantern7 June 21, 2016 Share June 21, 2016 I'm thinking either "Cromartie High School where the teacher is insane" or "Stand and Deliver on crack." I mean, look at the opening credits: I'll post the official Funimation clips when I find them. ETA: Here's the first one: Link to comment
Lantern7 June 25, 2016 Share June 25, 2016 Just wondering if Toonami will be running a block next week for the three-day Independence Day weekend. ETA: Yes, they are . . . a Hunter x Hunter marathon. ETA2: I read the first volume of Tokyo Ghoul. I'd be surprised if that wasn't picked up by Toonami down the line. Link to comment
InDueTime July 2, 2016 Share July 2, 2016 One Punch Man is premiering on Toonami July 16. https://www.facebook.com/Toonami Link to comment
Lantern7 July 2, 2016 Share July 2, 2016 Awright! And with SNL in repeats, I think I'll watch this "live." Link to comment
Brattinella July 4, 2016 Share July 4, 2016 Wow. I never suspected this stuff had this many fans. This block of anime really eats into my cartoon-watching sleepless nights. I wish they would move it to a different time frame. Link to comment
Lantern7 July 4, 2016 Share July 4, 2016 That's what DVRs are for. Also, Attack on Titan is scheduled to start its second season next spring, and I'm betting it'll make Toonami's lineup soon after that. We'll probably get the first season as a run-up. Link to comment
