The Pretender March 7, 2022 Share March 7, 2022 I think I blinked out for this episode. Laura left Andy behind at the coffee shop, I guess that's all I really need going forward so... Link to comment
gesundheit March 7, 2022 Share March 7, 2022 I feel like the guy playing Nick has the dopiest peppy-dad walk, it cracks me up every time. He seems so far from the hot young dangerous thing that Jane would've been so taken with. He also seems well into middle age. He's either miscast or my take on what the character is meant to be is way off. 2 1 2 4 Link to comment
Anela March 8, 2022 Share March 8, 2022 She just left her? I guess I’m going to finish the show, but I’m not liking any of them anymore. 4 Link to comment
Kristi800 March 12, 2022 Share March 12, 2022 I just realized "Jane" is about 6 inches shorter than "Laura". Does being in Witsec make you taller? 1 7 Link to comment

I didn't notice the height difference, but I was distracted by the lack of facial resemblance between young Jane and present-day Laura. Nothing was said about her getting plastic surgery or other changes to her face--the hair color was the only thing changed, apparently. But what you look like in your late teens to early 20s (as young Jane apparently was) is not much different from what you look like into your 40s or even 50s (assuming you don't gain or lose a lot of weight). The casting director could have done a better job finding a young actress with more of a resemblance to TC. Either that or have the writers put something in the script to indicate that Witsec helped her change her appearance. 1 2 Link to comment
peachmangosteen March 13, 2022 Share March 13, 2022 I'd rather they focus on finding the best person for the part over whether or not the 2 actors looked alike personally. And I really liked the Janes actress. She was one of the few things about this show that I liked lol. If anything, I would have rather they cast someone older who looked like her than the other way around because Toni Collette did nothing for me in this. 2 Link to comment

I agree with you about Toni Collette (and I expected her to be compelling, based on past performances), but aside from the lack of resemblance I just really didn't like the young Jane actress or character because she was so expressionless. Maybe the actress was directed to act that way, as a way of showing how controlled she was and how much emotion she was holding in, but she just came across as flat to me. 2 Link to comment

And in Looper with JGL being right-handing and Bruce Willis being left-handed took me out of the movie. 1 Link to comment

Also, I still don't know what the hell is happening. Nick and the Bad Seeds kidnapped a woman? For reasons? What are they rebelling against? Ronald Reagan? None of this makes sense. It's not a good story if information isn't revealed to move it along. And the identical wounds? What??? 1 3 Link to comment

Hee, Joe Dempsie was pretty foxy when he was on Game of Thrones in the early seasons, but he is not aging that well. I think he's like 35. I don't think the actor has gained a lot of weight but for some reason his face is so much more bloated now than when he was first on GoT. Link to comment
margol29 April 27, 2022 Share April 27, 2022 I like how everyone seems to know which hotel and which room Mike was in. And also everyone has a key to get into the room. Also, in one of the episodes, young Jane gets a package out of a public bathroom toilet. Whatever happened with that? They were talking about a dye pack exploding but the imposter woman ends up shooting Jane's dad on stage. And then where does the Paula Koonds lady in prison fit in? There are so many loose threads in this series. I hope it all comes together in the end. Link to comment

They kidnapped a scientist so they could send the imposter to Oslo to the conference :to kill Jane’s dad. Then they ransomed the scientist / that’s where the money in the suitcase is from. The imposter is the women whose husband killer himself and three children after taking some drug Jane’s Dad manufactured. The Reagan mask hid Nick’s identity so he could retrieve the ransom money. He used a protest against Reagan not finding AIDS research to aid his escape. 1 Link to comment
