Question for SEC fans. Do you accept Texas as one of your own?

Yes!  I know that a lot of SEC fans were critical of bringing them into the SEC, but it made no difference to me.  However, there are some teams I wouldn't want to see in the conference, but I'm okay with Texas.  We all have our likes and dislikes!

I don't think Texas played their best game (the last one), so I'm curious to see how tonight goes.

After the shitshow that are the Browns, I’m happy that you guys get some football joy with OSU.

Thank you!  We disown the Browns until they get rid of Watson.

We also have the Cavs, currently on their second double digit win streak, who are #1 in the NBA.

For me, following the painful 8th place finish for Cincinnati, it's great to see Ohio State crushing it in the CFB Playoff.  Though it's not like they wouldn't have anyway had Cincy done better within the professional level

At least you're not a Brownie.  😱

While I think it's great that Marcus Freeman is the 1st AA coach to play for a Natty and that it's long overdue, Noone ever mentions that Ryan Day is the first coach of Asian descent to play for a Natty.

Shouldn't we instead be focused on what they've done for their teams & communities?  And how they are great role models for ALL college athletes.

That being said, looks like that's it for Lee

Sadly I agree.  He should've retired a couple of years ago.  It's sad seeing him like this.

Well, Ryan Day is not of Asian descent, so that's probably why no one ever mentions it.

Marcus Freeman, however, is of Asian descent, and it would've been nice for him to be acknowledged in equal measure as the first black and the first Asian head coach to play for a national championship.

I rooted intensely against both Ohio State and Notre Dame, so I both won and lost.  And I hated all of it.

However, in that perfect state of rage equilibrium, I achieved nirvana.  So, that's nice.

I'm pretty sure I heard the announcer mentioned it last night.

ESPN had a graphic about it, I believe.

Teaser for an upcoming ESPN show - “Will Ryan Day now get the respect from Buckeyes fans?”

HA HA HA.  Until one very specific thing happens … no.

I read something from someone on Twitter that they'd still fire Ryan Day for whatever reason including not being able to close against Notre Dame.

Which isn't smart.  Sure ND got back into the game, but Ohio State still won the game.  By double-digits, more than covering the spread

Not that they are going to but if they did Ryan Day would have another job faster than he would be able to clean out his desk. Not to mention that would affect recruiting.

I take it back.  I saw on SC before the game that they posted he was.  My apologies.  Or I misread it.

And the jerk who Tweeted that Day would/should be fired is just one person.  The Natty buys him some time - maybe a year or two.  But he still has to beat TTUN.

However, we beat TTUN 9 times in a row - including 5 by 'Ol Khaki Pants - before they started cheating.  And TTUN didn't fire him.  A good coach is hard to find.

Watching Notre Dame get its ass kicked would have been a delight if it hadn't been thoroughly obnoxious Ohio State doing it.  So while I didn't enjoy their victory, I did enjoy the great laughs I got from the plays in which ND screwed up royally.  (I was over at my parents' house with the game on mostly in the background, and only for the second half, but I still managed to catch a couple of doozies that gave me a nice belly laugh.)

So....how do we rank the coaches?  Not sure there's a perfect answer.  A definitive one? Maybe, but I suppose someone could go with:

1. Day

1. Tressel

3. Meyer

The fact is that all three have played for the title more than once in their career.

I loved Tressel.  I like Day.  Never liked Meyer no matter what team he was coaching.

In terms of winning percentage it would have to be Day first (after Woody of course.  Woody will always be #1.

Anyway, in the entire 150 yr college football annals, Ryan Day is the third winningest coach by percentage, after the guy who started it Walter Camp, and Knute Rockne.  I was surprised to hear that, but then several sites/anchors/pundits said the same thing.  Yep, he has a higher winning percentage than Nick Saban.

Nick is 13th in percentage but one in number of wins.  This includes his entire career, not just Alabama.
