I was 29, had a super fun roommate and a banging social life. I LOVED MTV. I was crazy about Culture Club, Eurythmics, ABC, Human League, Men At Work, Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, Dave Edmunds, Nick Lowe, Graham Parker, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.....on and on. I bought my clothes at a second hand shop on Newbury street in Boston and was very much a Ralph Lauren urban cowgirl. I had a 23 inch waist. Life was good!

Wow, so cool! Nothing cool like the New Romantics! I was super cheesed out about “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls. That video! You just couldn’t help but admire those young sexy girls on the jeans commercials. The Jordache ones were my favorite. Every time MTV went to commercial break, it was always jeans or beer they were advertising. My sisters quickly grew to hate Every Breath You Take by The Police that summer while working as interns. Isn’t that song PERFECT for weddings? (Of course I’m kidding.)

Oh for joy. We get to see Danielle waving a peed on stick.

Geez, Danielle, why don't you wave some sage around and recite some psalms, while wearing some flowy white robes? That should do the trick.

Or put it next to a box of his dead mother’s hair…oh wait..

Daniele isn’t pregnant! Shocking. I’d get my money back from my phony shaman spiritual advisor if i were her.

But take heart, we're sure to enjoy their visit to a fertility specialist. With bonus ultrasound!

Does she understand how expensive fertility treatments are?

She doesn't seem to understand much, to be fair.

I told you I have no more comments on this Abby Gabby Frankie “storyline”. Back to my outside life (privacy and anonymity included, of course).

My daughter loves anything and everything 80s British new wave. She tells me while adding songs to her 1983 playlist that Sheffield is the origin city of many bands that hit that year. Like, did you know that ABC, The Human League, and Def Leppard all came from that one city?! 😳 Survey 3: Give this a ❤️ if you remember “Fascination”, “The Lexicon of Love”, or “Pyromania”.

I LOVE Def Leppard! Fun fact, the immortal Joe Cocker is also from Sheffield.

Try Ultravox, Spandau Ballet, Bronski Beat, Erasure, Communards, The Cure, OMD, P-Furs, Depeche Mode. Etc.

I was a punk rock chick at CBGBs in the late 70s (after being a Lou Reed and Velvet Underground fanatic since college) and pretty much continued that life into the early 80s. Plus Max’s, Danceteria, Mudd Club, Hurrah, Tier 3, Irving Plaza, the Ritz … in 1983 I broke up with my rich British new wave journalist boyfriend. (To date, our nearly 3 years together was my longest relationship! And he was my first real boyfriend. I’m 68 now. Something went terribly wrong …) I was also a fiction writer in 1983 and my book of short stories was published in 1986. Of course, I also had jobs … editorial, proofreading …

I was a little kid in 1983 and loooved Duran Duran and The Eurythmics.  Oh, and Madonna.  And Cyndi Lauper. Mostly Duran Duran, though.  I think this was the first year I was really aware of Mtv and The Radio (I was 7) and how much I enjoyed listening to all the artists.

Girl, you need to write a memoir! I'd read it.

I totally missed the 80’s. I was raising two boys, beef cattle and had a crap husband.

Wow. Hope he’s out of your life, especially considering we’re currently watching Pred be a shit person and agonizing over it.

That’s right! Love lifted him up where he belonged.

Two other artists my daughter loves are Arctic Monkeys (they’re more recent) and Thompson Twins. She loves their songs “Lies”, “Love On Your Side” and “Hold Me Now” and they’re all on the playlist.

I was a kid in the 80s but loved neon socks and the Thriller video gave me nightmares. I liked Madonna and her terrible movies. I listen to a lot of dépêche mode and Joy Division /New Order in 7th and 8th grade.

It gave me nightmares too! One day the creepy zombies dancing with MJ made me have vivid nightmares about waking up to my parents and sisters doing the same thing! So haunting.

My daughter’s fave from Depeche Mode that year is “Everything Counts”. For New Order it’s “Blue Monday”.

I remember seeing Desperately Seeking Susan and it was a trip!

She is so hardcore that she even has “Reap the Wild Wind” on there.

gosh I hope Valentine talks about being a top in his marriage proposal.

I hope they write their own vows and swear to take turns being The Top.
That reminds me. This would be a perfect “first dance song”

I’ve certainly been thinking about it! Some “groupie” escapades too (of the punk, new wave/post punk variety, no stadium hair band types!).
