Also, pretty hot, not gonna lie. Agreed. There was an episode early in the show where he strode onto the scene all “Captain Bobby Nash, what’s the situation?” and took control, and it was very hot. Peter Krause can be sexy (see: Six Feet Under) but that doesn’t happen a lot here. Take No Shit Firefighter Bobby is sexy. 8 Link to comment
Ruby Red October 6, 2021 Share October 6, 2021 I am actually starting to think they might go there with Eddie, but I am not entirely convinced, but there is a maybe... With how Eddie talked about "the idea of us" and how he tried to love Ana but he couldn't, as I have seen people saying - there have been character arcs like this where a character was unsure about their sexuality and they ended up coming out as gay (or bi, but that doesn't happen much). Eddie is repressing so much, his past traumas but it could also be more than just that. 2 1 Link to comment
possibilities October 7, 2021 Share October 7, 2021 Entire shows have been built around men who like to go rogue and save the day, and they are always considered sexy heroes that people cheer for. I really think Athena is no worse than most of the badass tv and movie characters who do reckless things for good reasons and always win, despite getting the shit kicked out of them over and over again, and annoying their institutional superiors. 14 Link to comment

The thing is, 9-1-1 is not one of those shows. 9-1-1 isn't built around Athena. It's built around the first responders of the LAPD and LAFD, in which Athena is one of the first responders. Similar to how Third Watch was done. The strength is in the ensemble cast. So seeing Athena constantly going rogue, gets kind of annoying. The show wasn't called 911: Athena. circumvent October 7, 2021 Share October 7, 2021 This show is so bad! So full of impossible scenarios, even when allowing for impossible scenarios in this type of production. I mean, there is a point where you either pitch a firefighter/natural disaster show, or you pitch fantasy. These latest episodes were complete fantasy. I guess none of the writers have ever been without power for more than a couple of hours. Generators run on gas, and they need to have gas added after a certain amount of hours, but gas stations cannot pump gas without power. Even a propane generator has to be huge to run for days, non-stop. Generators are for basic stuff, not for parties. Everyone goes back home after a blackout and all the food is prefect, nobody freaked out about how there is probably rotten food in the fridge, the hospitals are not overwhelmed, no other patient requiring devices to keep them alive has died, the federal government did not send the National Guard to assist and save lives. Nooooo. Because they have Athena, who literally walked through fire, and Bobby, who talks to god, to save the city. And how clean and fresh they all looked after the five days without electricity. C'mon people. Everything we do requires electric power, that's how screwed we would be in a situation like this. Besides this is the US of A, not some more advanced country that has more alternative energy sources, instead of ancient equipment. I would love to see one of the writers live through one day without power. It sucks. Most people in this country are really poor, it would be hell. The writers didn't even attempt to show the chaos. If I were the mother of the actor who plays Christopher (or the actor himself), I would raise hell for the infantilization of the character. If he were non-disabled, nobody would be picking him up like a toddler and carrying him around, treating him like he is an easily breakable vase. Disgusting, the ableism. He is there to "inspire" (inspiration porn)and I feel like vomiting every time he is on a scene. It doesn't help that the actor is really bad 2 Link to comment

They weren't wanted there. Why didn't they just go back to the firehouse and wait for calls from people who really wanted their help? Weren't they there on a call? At the very least, they have to touch base with the person who called. If that person ends up saying, "Nevermind", then they can go. But never on the say-so of the upset crowd. 2 Link to comment

I wonder if his panic is really about HER, or just the idea of a serious relationship with ANYONE. I think you nailed it. I have attended the funerals of two of my four brothers in the last two weeks, and I can promise you there was a lot of 'inappropriate' laughter. Sometimes you just gotta, or go crazy. I'm so sorry for your losses. That's a lot of pain concentrated in a small period of time. I've had the same experiences (laughter) during the funerals for my mother and brother (to be fair, my eulogy for him was designed to bring some laughter to the proceedings). (Full disclosure -- I loathe QT but I kinda recognize his moves.) It broke some of the tension and appropriate or not in the circumstances, that's what gallows humor is for. And what it's named for. :) On 10/5/2021 at 8:18 PM, shapeshifter said: Yes, but that was just the warm up for the truly LOL moment when Peter Krause/Bobby roared up to the locked gate in the fire engine and told his wife's gay ex-husband: We don't need keys! 😆🤣 I am sure Peter Krause has been waiting all his acting life for that moment. 😂 When he said that, I thought he meant battering rams - but it was so much better than that. On 10/6/2021 at 11:01 AM, DearEvette said: While I know the show loves to open each season with these big event arcs: the earthquake, the tsunami, the landslide and now the blackout -- these are actually my least favorite episodes of any season. I like the theme episodes where they just go out and do sometimes wacky, sometimes emotional rescues. Also I like the high concept episodes like the taking of the 9-1-1 center or the bank heist one, those are fun departures. But I think I disliked this arc the most because it was (ha-ha) so dark. The show skews more lighthearted and it is one of the reasons I look forward to it. And I was legit pissed about Lou! I totally agree - I don't really like over the top openers. I didn't like this one because it hinted at a season long arc with this horrible rapist - I hate season long nemesis arcs. So I was glad he got his due and we won't have to worry about him. I like the wacky episodes, and I do like it centered more on the Firehouse than on the police. The bad guy would have driven off thinking the kid was still in the trunk, and the kid would have escaped on his own without the ridiculous super Athena drama. He wouldn't have to slam the trunk shut. That was my thought at the time, but then there was a lot of plot that wouldn't have happened if he had. I think it would have been better if they'd figured out a way to use the freed boy and still come up with the same result. I waited to watch this episode until now because I seriously didn't want to watch the rapist/murderer storyline. Also, I'm not crazy about the PPD storyline. It's a painful reminder of my own experience. 2 Link to comment

kwnyc December 14, 2021 Share December 14, 2021 (edited) The character of Maddie, and the action of her leaving, is actually true to the person the writers have created. She leaves. She disappears. She was abused for years, and didn't get much in the way of nurture and support from her parents. Even though she's finally found someone who truly loves her, and whom she loves, she doesn't know how to behave as a healthy person. All she knows is that she thinks she's messed up and has to go away to not hurt anyone else. Of course the show isn't smart enough to have a doctor recognize this and suggest in-patient treatment, so we're going to have to put up with a search/mystery that no one really wants. And I doubt that Maddie really WILL be able to heal herself simply by going away and being alone. Nothin' wrong with sending a character away to a "retreat" or facility when the actor is pregnant, right Daphne on Frasier and Jill on Mom? (Or having her kidnapped and tortured by an evil international sentient AI, right Shah on Person of Interest?) Edited December 14, 2021 by kwnyc 2 Link to comment
