Star Wars Andor: Making a Rebel, Making a Rebellion
...
The Star Wars series Andor speaks powerfully to today’s audience about fighting oppression. Examining the first season of the Disney+ series, panelists will explore the motivations and actions of Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma, Luthen Rael, and other characters as they put it all on the line to resist and rebel against the Empire. What type of people are drawn to stand up to tyranny? How do individual dissenters start forming movements? When can you fight inside the system, and when do you have to fight from the outside? Why does this show resonate so well at this time? Panelists include Robert A. Dagnall (M.A. candidate in Rhetoric and Writing Studies; instructor, SDSU), J. Dianne Dotson (sci-fi and fantasy author, producer, science writer, biologist), Dr. Drea Letamendi (psychologist at UCLA, host of the Arkham Sessions podcast), Desmond Hassing (lecturer of American Indian Studies, SDSU), and Jake Rowlett (Ph.D. candidate, SDSU/UCSB). Moderated by James Floyd (STEAMpop Network, Star Warsologies podcast, Star Wars Insider contributor).

They're up for Best Writing and Best Directing too--eight nominations in all!

But *zero* for acting?? Not cool, Emmys. After previous awards shows this season, I'd resigned myself to Diego Luna not winning, but I thought he'd at least be recognized. And no Stellan Skarsgard or Fiona Shaw for Supporting, no Andy Serkis for Guest Actor? That's wild.

Such a nice sentiment.

He should be careful saying that. This is Disney after all. If this is successful enough they'll be milking it until everyone is thoroughly sick of it. He might survive after all. Or there will be a sequel.

But if they really want to milk this dry, we could have a scene where Jyn and Andor are watching the blast wave come in and someone lands a ship behind them and yells "what are you staring at? Let's get out of here!" followed by the ship just barely clearing the blast radius.

Remind me... is this the final season, or did they say it would be a three season story?

Thanks!

I believe this is it. Pending Disney needing more content and opening up the pockets for a side prequel story

Is Disney Bad at Star Wars? An Analysis
By James Hibberd   October 3, 2024
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-wars-disney-analysis-ratings-box-office-1236011620/

—2022’s Andor from Rogue One fixer Tony Gilroy, who returned to make a prequel series to the film he swooped in to rescue midway through production. Andor was a grown-up Star Wars title that felt grounded and heavily used practical effects and on-location filming (instead of the LED volume wall technology used by the other shows for their backgrounds, which sometimes makes them look like blurry stage plays). The show was also massively expensive, with a budget estimated to be as high as $250 million for 12 episodes. Critics and its fans loved the result, however, and Andor was Emmy nominated for best drama series. At 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, Andor is actually the best reviewed live-action Star Wars TV show or movie.

Andor’s ratings did not fully reflect this esteem. It opened with 624 million minutes before falling into the 400 million range for subsequent weeks, then jumping back to 674 million for its finale. There will be a second season in 2025 to conclude the story. Gilroy originally pitched the show as five seasons and has said it was his decision to shorten the project. It would not be surprising if Andor‘s ratings pop for season two as more casual Star Wars fans discover the show.

New ANDOR: A STAR WARS STORY Season 2 Stills Tease The Next Five Years Of Cassian Andor's Story
By Josh Wilding   Nov 22, 2024

Andor season 2 is only five months away and a new batch of stills offer a glimpse at what's to come as Cassian Andor's story continues (which were first published in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, via SFFGazette.com).

Those highlight almost the entire cast, including Cassian's new look now that he's become a full-fledged Rebel. Stellan Skarsgård returns as Luthen Rael and there's a great shot of him meeting with Mon Mothma as a platoon of Imperial Stormtroopers loom large in the background.
