Harvey April 8, 2020 Share April 8, 2020 Quote Katie reminds Anna-Kat that she is a strong, independent, young woman and encourages her to start standing up for herself when dealing with Taylor. Meanwhile, Oliver feels left out when Greg invites Lonnie, Trip and Franklin to join him at the Historical Guild's latest reenactment of "The Battle of Westport". Link to comment
readster April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Very happy that Greg and Cooper called Oliver on him always putting down what Greg enjoys. I mean Katie is usually: "Have fun and enjoy." Oliver has been always finding a way to just say: "Dad, your stuff just sucks and it's stupid." Still, the social media guy needs to go when the season is over. 8 Link to comment
Bobbin April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 So much for Oliver's maturing. But good for Pierce calling him out. The Trip-Franklin subplot was well done and sweet. I wish we would see more of the other side of the other characters, the moments few people are ever privileged to see in real life. Katie's ultimate tactic to rein in Anna-Kat wasn't shaming, just flat out humiliating. But whatever works. 5 Link to comment

I hope that's not because they're trying to make him into a likable jerk that becomes a permanent part of the family. He is a one gag character that one episode could have covered. 7 Link to comment
Harvey April 16, 2020 Author Share April 16, 2020 Katie's dancing was so cute at the start of the episode. 🧡 My favorite moment was when Katie didn't mind being called into the principal's office in lunch hours, but the principal did 😄 Sharp writing! Also, I cracked up when I saw just how many secret camera men Lonnie had around camouflaged as bushes! Talk about commitment! At the end of the day the episode's message was nice, I liked the distinction Katie made between standing up for yourself when you have been wronged and simply doing whatever you want. 7 Link to comment
Yeah No April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Anna Kat said something about never learning to ride a bike, but didn't we see her in a previous episode this season riding one? 3 Link to comment

Yeah and even when Katie gets called on that, I think even the actors were WTF? Didn't we go over that a while ago. That's a glaring hole, with the writers going: "Well, they won't remember this." or of course: "We don't remember that episode, so it will be a great punchline." I did like that Trip got messed up with being bombarded with questions left and right. Though his reaction to not knowing his favorite color was. That felt true, because some people really don't have a favorite color. 3 Link to comment
Cowgirl April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 I thought maybe that Franklin was asking so many questions to prompt Tripp to ask something about him. The real reason was nicer though, and less sad. 6 Link to comment
iMonrey April 17, 2020 Share April 17, 2020 The most disturbing thing is the idea that Franklin's mother tried to find him a "brother" but was stopped by mall security. Yikes. I didn't mind Oliver standing up and defending Greg but turning to him and saying "I love you Dad" felt a little too precious to me. That's just not how Oliver rolls. I'm fine seeing some growth in him this season but let's not go overboard. He shouldn't suddenly become saccharine and maudlin any more than Taylor should suddenly be smart. I hate when Angela and Doris are reduced to a few lines each in one scene at the bistro. I'm sure they are happy to collect their paychecks but it must be frustrating showing up every week for the table read and sitting there through the whole thing waiting to say your two lines. 6 Link to comment

It’s possible they film a bunch of bistro episodes at one time. 2 4 Link to comment
SnarkySheep April 21, 2020 Share April 21, 2020 The whole storyline with Oliver and Greg felt real to me - it's not uncommon for teens to not want to hang out with their parents, but of course feel resentment when other teens do instead. 2 Link to comment

lark37 April 24, 2020 Share April 24, 2020 Big plot hole-- why did Anna Kat have school when the other kids didnt? Did I miss an explanation like Tripp, Oliver, Franklin and Oliver's friend (sorry blanking on his name) were excused from school for the reenactment? I couldn't for the life of me figure out a timeline for this episode! Link to comment

No one wanted to hang out with anyone else's parents but mine! I think back in my day hanging with someone's parents was very unusual so if anyone did it, that was pretty significant. 1 Link to comment
