Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

Sadly (damn you, writers!!!), she doesn't like Tracy.

If I were a new viewer and this was my first exposure to her, I'd hate her too. Tracy is awful right now.

I have also been thinking that Willow will kill Drew ala Laura killing David Hamilton when she realized how he had used and humiliated her.

If Willow could wait to murder Drew until he's thoroughly exposed Portia's medical shenanigans, I'd appreciate it.

I vote for Willow's DID name(s) to be tree varieties. At least that would be self-limiting, right?  Let's see... Olive, Cherry, Silver (Aspen, Birch) - any others?

How about Stinkwood?  It has a certain ring to it.

Or, to get all fancy and stuff, maybe give her a double name like Dutch Elm?

Drew could relinquish the Quartermaine name and go by a more appropriate moniker such as Peckerwood.

NuLulu goes to Carly for advice about the BLQ/Dante secret baby news. Oh, Show. I was actually surprised Carly didn't shriek once (for now) but c'mon, Robin did not "wreck" your lives. AH was very good in showing layers to her reaction and thoughts/feelings about Dante, BLQ, and their families. This is probably an unpopular opinion but I think Lulu has been a good character so far when she's having relationship scenes with her mom, Lucky, Rocco, and Dante that aren't all about finding Charlotte.

Tracy throwing Stone, Karen and Jason in Sonny's face in front of Lois, BLQ, Dante and Gio was well written and equisitely acted by JE. The Tracy-Gio scene was great too; they have good family chemistry. It seems that Gio is the new Violet in her life; can't wait for their reactions to finding out Tracy is his great grandmother and that Lois has been lying to his face since he was a baby. I felt really bad for him today when he talked about his past.

Alexis being so blunt with Sidwell is as entertaining as when Alexis has no time for Carly. Kudos to NLG.

ETA: Elizabeth's line to Drew today about Oscar was kind of her to say, but I don't buy for a moment that Drew and/or Trina and Joss think about or talk about memories of Oscar alone or with others.

Why would Lulu go to Carly of all people with Dante's secret child? Why not Laura? Or Maxie? Of Kevin? Does Carly not have enough to do on the other 50 story lines she's already in?

And Lulu is asking Carly whether she should keep it a secret? Carly who specializes in keeping people's true parenthood a secret?

Lulu: "I think Dante deserves to know he has a son."  Yes Lulu, he has Rocco. You mean another son.

So Sonny is going to buy Valentin's house so he has a place to stay while his penthouse gets repaired?  Jost how much money does he have to throw around? And if he has that much, why not hire more people to fix the penthouse faster?

Tracy, Gio's unwitting great grandmother, confronting Sonny, his unwitting grandfather. I don't know whether to be impressed or throw up.

Let me get this straight:  Olivia and Sonny are Dante's parents so they are Gio's grandparents. But Olivia is now married to Ned who is Brook Lynn's father and thus Ned is both Gio's grandfather and his stepgrandfather. That's some "I married my own grandpa" stuff.

No they were campers when they were in Junior High and then became CITs in HS. Although the ages still don’t line up. As I said, I went to sleepaway camp from 10-13. That’s generally the age for going away unless it’s specifically a camp for teens. By the show’s ‘logic’ they either started camp at 13 or they were CITs at 14.

Okay, so they paid as campers, and then half costs as CITs. I know that Brook Lynn had Quartermaine money and maybe Cody's was paid by his stepfather but how did Olivia afford 2 or 3 years of sleepover camp for Dante? That doesn't come cheap.

And, once again, ChatGPS demonstrates the limits of AI.

Just as a side note, people who are neutrodiverse (e.g. ADHD, autism spectrum) are getting an F their school papers for plagiarism even when they aren't. The way neurodivergent  naturally speak can get flagged as AI.

Can James please be sent to military school? He's so tiresome. He's also a budding pathological liar.

Not that I'm entirely surprised that Lulu has no sympathy whatsoever for teen mom Brook Lynn, but sheesh. BL gave up the baby; it's not as if she were raising the kid and Dante has no clue. Am I really supposed to be on Lulu's side here? Why does she think she should tell Dante anything? It has nothing to do with her. Talk about it not being her secret to tell. And with Carly being the voice of reason here, I am reeling. Not that Lulu will listen to Carly's warnings. Because Lulu is that petty.

I'm sad Sidwell didn't through Noted Bigot Natalia's noted bigotry in her face. You can't tell me he didn't keep tabs on her in a loose way over the years and after running into her that first time in Port Charles that he didn't do a deep dive.

Anyone who throws Sonny's past in his face and doesn't back down gets a thumb's up from me, but the reason for the fight was so idiotic. Gio isn't some grade schooler; he's at least 21, right? He can take money from whomever he wants. Though he should have at least read the papers over before signing. Even if Diane and Alexis both worked on the papers. You always read them  first!

Sonny would have been sitting through endless violin concerts while he was married to Carly, right? I don't think she knew Gio existed until he came to PC. What exactly did he tell her when he slipped off to Bensonhurst or wherever, it was a business trip?

Why hasn't Sonny dropped dead yet? He's had numerous stressful situations with nary a twinge.

 On this Show, nbd considering:

-Carly was both Rocco's stepgrandmother and his cousin (he's Lulu kid) while she was married to Sonny.

-Donna, Carly and Sonny's daughter, is Lulu's cousin and Dante's little sister. So, she is both cousin and aunt to Rocco.

-Molly and Kristina, James and Bailey Lu, Danny and Scout, Wiley and Amelia are all siblings as well as cousins to each other.

-Ava was Sam's aunt and simultaneously her cousin-in-law while Ava was married to Nikolas. (Ava has been Alexis' sister-in-law and niece-in-law.)

Why are Willow, Isaiah and Kai all rewarding James for sliding off of the roof? Are Felicia and Maxie the only ones who have any sense of parenting? No wonder Wylie is such a pain.

It may be my biases but I preferred seeing Alexis standing up to Sidwell to Lucy propping him.

No surprise, Carly blames Robin for wrecking their lives by revealing the secret of Michael's paternity and not herself for the secret in the first place. And Lulu, who spent time growing up in the Quartermaine house, shouldn't accept so blithely how horrible it would have been for Michael to be AJ's son.

Carly is the perfect mob moll, as she herself keeps telling us. I doubt that Sonny had to say anything other than it was 'bidness'.

I have a hard time buying Sonny sitting through student violin recitals. Those things are painful.

And of course there's this. I was going to say something about how uninvolved he likely is in Donna and Avery's extracurriculars, and then I mentally slapped myself and remembered: Girl children. Of course someone else's son is more worthy of his attention.

I know it's unpopular here, but I think James is a cute little handful, and exactly the kid Maxie would have.  If I'd been seeing him for his fracture, I would have stepped out of the room for a moment to laugh, and then gone in and been appropriately sympathetic with the parent.  This kid is going places, if he makes it to adulthood.

I guess it wasn't surprising that Lulu chose Carly to talk to.  She knows Carly was given to adoption by her bio mom, and might be able to share that perspective on it.

Tracy. She could certainly have developed a relationship with Gio without having a blowup with Sonny, but considering Sonny will eventually come to be recognized as Gio's grandfather, maybe it's part of some elaborate set up.  Regardless, I like to see that relationship developing, and wish she was also working on one with each of the other kids in the house.  They don't need to have her play the bad guy to make her interesting; JE has that covered.

I forgot that Drew is Oscar's father.  Obviously the change in actors doesn't help, but it's more the change in Drew's personality.

Overall, I feel like something has happened with the show.  They seem to know which stories they want to tell now, and they're moving them forward with a momentum that has been missing for a long time.  I'm not a fan of all of these stories, but I appreciate the progress.  I hope they will become adept at integrating depth into the characters and conversations as well.
