  1. unpopular opinion. i couldn't really get into it. idk if it was my mood, but i was SO. ANNOYED. at everything on the screen. except cinematography. GORGEOUS movie. i turned it off (HBO MAX) after song #9753782 that was about what the person was currently doing (literally, just doing it and singing about it). I'll need to give it another chance but i can't bring myself to going in again remembering the emotions i felt during the first try lol (the attempt happened the weekend it came out. and didn't repeat since...) and it's uncharacteristic. i usually like musicals and music movies (well i didn't like Book of Mormon, probably because of high expectations. i was going in for the best most original musical ever and got derivative music and very flat humor. lol) Yeah... i'm kinda sad this one didn't land for me...(yet?)
  2. i had that same thought, but then another one popped into my head lol maybe the writers didn't want to "diagnose" her through non-professional characters. you know, how people just throw around "omg i'm so OCD" or "look at that spazzy kid, he must be ADHD".
  3. Idk how much higher Iceland would have been, honestly. Their gimmick was awkwardness, and it worked well regardless of whether it was live or pre-record. And the pre-record was done on the same stage as everyone else, so i bet a lot of people didn't even notice those few weird shots with empty audience and a camera man lol Australia definitely was hurt by the recording. but it's also somewhat her fault to. there was no energy in her face or body at all. i get it. she wasn't even on stage with all the workers here and press in the next room to react to her and then give exposure to the staging and the performance. But... still... her eyes were dead in the live recording. can you suck it up and pretend this situation is not utterly and completely unfair for 3 minutes? I guess she couldn't... as for the arena being not full... again, not sure. i feel like everyone was so hungry for live audience it didn't matter it wasn't standing room only sell out. i liked how they filmed the arena, it looked like there was a lot more people there.
  4. i wasn't a fan of Arcade (though it was in my top 10), my pic was Soldi in 2019. Why Gjon? i couldn't explain it to you, honestly. In general i prefer low male voices (Dadi from Iceland has some of the best low notes, they "tickle" your spinal chord)... but even last year, Switzerland was my top, and i didn't understand why. Same with this one. I just vibed with it. France at least has been trying to send stuff that is more likely to be on the radio today. Madam and Monsieur, Bilal... Germany too... with Schulte. but that seems more of an outlier for Germany. This year France is pretty niche: classic French chanson, but that niche is very popular all over Europe, and more importantly in Eastern Europe, so i'm not surprised France got so many votes. As for influence... that's how you appeal to the public. Finland went Linkin Park route, Cyprus decided to send "Gaga", Greece - Dua Lipa. Electro velvet is my fav UK entry in this century lol it's still in my playlist haha I think what killed UK this time around is that they sent a songwriter, instead of an artist. He seemed like a good guy, but stage presence and vocals were so lacking... I think his brother would have gotten a few more points... but that wouldn't have helped him much... this year it seems there was a consensus on top 10-12 countries. So the rest got the scraps. It was also nice to have no clear favorite, though Italy did lead in the odds at the end, but during the rehearsals and the semifinals, you could make an argument for 7-10 different countries winning it all. that was fun.
  5. I was rooting for Switzerland, Italy, Ukraine, Portugal, and Iceland. im really glad all did well. It’s the best result for Eurovision in a long while. In terms of what it’ll do for the songs countries will bring in the next few years. top 3 are non English songs. 4 out of top 5 are non English songs. The number of different genres that are not generic Swedish pop in the top 10 is amazing. and Italy has been my fav country since they came back. In the 10 years only one of their entries wasn’t in my top 10. Il Volo, Mahmud, Meta & Moro, Gabbani, and Måneskin were all in my top 3. Soldi is now my all time favorite Eurovision song. Robbed in 2019. Lost by 25 points. Funnily enough this year Italy won by 25 points lol the craziness of four zero points was epic. I seem to have been one of the few who liked Germany lol it sucks. He actually did rather well in a lot of countries, finishing just outside of top 10. Im looking at UK and Spain though to get a wake up call. Italy and France are not resting on an automatic qualification. Germany has had their moments in sending good stuff. UK and Spain… just give up your spots to countries that are trying every year and have to fight tooth and nail to get to the grand finale. Poor Croatia: 9th with televote, 10th with the juries, but 11th in the overall score and out of the Saturday show. im glad Russia made it in the top 10. The amount of hate that girl was getting from her own country is disgusting. It’s also nice that both jury and televote pretty much agreed giving her 104 and 100 points respectively. I just hope Russia will stop sending generic love love peace peace ballads. With the popularity of Little Big last year and a very respectable result this time they should just take a page out of Italy’s or Portugal’s playbook. The two countries who don’t give a damn abut so called “format” and just send whatever is popular in their county. You like it? Awesome, thanks you don’t? Ah well, thanks anyway.
  6. Wow. That got me. After the “make sure to follow your heart, not his” I thought that was a set up to finally get Buck and Eddie together. Especially after that friendzone thing last episode. then they introduced this single mom with a sick kid of the same age as Christofer and I thought come on, can you be more obvious? then I was relieved that she was poisoning her kid (ok that sounded better in my head lol but you know what I mean haha) and then they shot him like that? My first thought was “near death experience together will throw them towards each other” and now I read that the actor is most likely to be fired? I need to get off this rollercoaster please. I need a Buck and Eddie. damit…
  7. in the past few years i've been quite active: watching a lot of national selections. but this year... this year i have no mood to get that involved... partially because of what's going on in my country (Belarus), partially because i feel like last year's song were better for the most countries... I've listened to selected songs few times, but nothing really gets me excited... i like a few, but not crazy about anything specific.... well maybe Russia, but mostly because how much hate Manizha has been getting from Russians. i just want her to stick it to them. I like the song too... but she is a live performer, so the studio doesn't do much for me. hard to get excited... her performance during the recent party had A LOT of energy and charisma... but i haven't seen anyone lese to compare her to. Idk if i'll be following rehearsals... might just go into the semis mostly blind. I already took PM off for both Tue and Thu (i'm tired of yelling at everyone not to spoil it for me till i get home and watch the shows lol since it starts around 2-3pm here)
  8. in the book and in the script it was Vienna. later Taika removed all but two indicators that it's Vienna and it became just a random German speaking little town. (the things that point towards Vienna that were left in the movie: 1. Elsa talking about how Nathan proposed on the bank of Fluss (this is what Vienna people call Wien river. it's literally river in German) 2. When they name the Gestapo "chapter" it is from Vienna. yes i bought the script on Etzy lol)

    S04.E06: Jinx

ok... jinx... string of weird calls. i mean weird is Tuesday for 118 LOL
  10. The birds are coming back to Port Talbot. and that large blue finch is the leader, it seems. I see you little feathery $#!t 🤣 loved that show. I already watched it 3 times. I’m more familiar with Sheen, than with Tennet. Though I saw Good Omens so I’m aware of crazy chemistry and comedic timing.
  11. I was more surprised at I’m probably one of the few readers who don’t care much about casting. I honestly don’t remember really imagining characters’ looks when I read. It’s hard to explain. Yes there’s a description. Yes sometimes it’s part of the story. But as soon as that part of the story is over i completely forget that someone is super young and beautiful and someone is a humongous human being. I do love characters. Would take a character driven book/movie/show over plot driven any day. So when they cut out that part I’m more upset. (Still can’t forgive what they did to camerlengio in Angels & Demons. He was my fav character) i do understand that it’s hard to fit 600 pages into a show. I’m a bit sad they omitted the part with
  12. Ok on one side there's no Tom. on another Artem is back, and i'm actually interested in AJ and Johnny Weir (especially like I posted in general thread if we get an MM pairing) it's tough to decide... I might tune in on hulu the night after, definitely won't be rushing to my tv to watch it live or anything.
  13. Casting Johnny Weir might be interesting if the show has the balls to pair him with a male pro. But I doubt it.
  14. I don't buy that it was $$ decision. I believe that Tom was picking up a nice check, sure (and he earned every penny of that) Had they replaced him with... idk... Raven Simone, or Normani, or... you get the picture, yeah, I'd understand. Tyra though? please. her ego is too large to go for a "moderate" pay. idk if it happened before the current movement... but right now it kinda looks like filling the quota with underqualified candidates (to be fair though 99% of people white, black, Asian, whatever, would be underqualified next to Tom, so not REALLY a slight against Tyra. it'll be tough for her, for sure)
  15. You should check out Kingsman then. I believe that was his first role and right away he was thrown next to Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Samuel L Jackson and was right at home next to those "scene stealers"
  16. i guess I should have elaborated on that. But the post was already too long lol I don’t mind the idea of saying fuck you, I mind the way it’s being said. There’s a way to do it and still have dignity. You know, a smart fuck you? Like this show could have been with just the writing, but well researched basics. Cause now they look like an idiot calling another person an idiot. And it just doesn’t ring as true... that’s what’s causing dissonance in me. It’s a smart show... until it just throws that uneducated blimp. There’s nothing better than an educated and smart put down... and this show was so close to it and ruined to the point of actually being on the verge of stupid itself.
  17. Idk. I’m really trying. I keep telling myself that it’s a sarcastic comedic exaggerated view on a period in history. i will forego so many different races in the royal household. It seems as if they are using those actors for “imaginary” characters. So whatever. You do you, show I’m in the middle of the 3rd episode. And I’m just about done with under-researched subject. If you are using a culture as a butt of a joke, at least do some honor on the level of basic research. Madam Svenska’s husband is colonel Svenska? Svenska? Let me put it this way svenskA??? Never mind that it’s a Polish last name, but I guess there were Poles in the close proximity to the royal family. They would most likely be addressed using Russified version of their last name. So madam Svenskaya. But it’s still a femminitive version of the last name: Polish or Russian. Colonel would be Svenski or Svenskiy. And if western cultures insist on husband and wife having the same last name to the letter, it’s the masculine version that is used. I could I guess assume it was intentional, Like yay women! but this show is so kitschy, they would have made a more of a thing out of it if it were intentional. But no. Madam Svenska is introduced first, so her husband must be Svenska too... screw the culture, history and language. and the statue.... ПЕТРУ ВЕЛИКАЯ??? Well at least it’s not a gibberish like Hollywood likes to make. Just throw a stapler at a Russian keyboard and pretend it’s a word... I’m not gonna go into the deep thickets of grammar to explain how and what is wrong... but it’s again mixing feminitive and masculine forms of words... and using a dative case which has no place on the monument unless it’s preceded by a noun “monument” in front of it. Which it’s not. im not gonna comment on the history cause it’s clearly and explicitly states that this show has very little to do with history, but some level of respect is expected. Cause from where I’m sitting it’s a giant In your face F$#CK YOU to Russia. I’m not even Russian and it bothers me... (Russia adjacent lol)
  18. How is it that Bobby and Michael have more chemistry than Bobby and Athena? lol
  19. Oh I can't wait to see this. I was seriously impressed with the actor. I don't remember last time I saw someone THAT easily go from one emotion to another within few seconds. I actually had to rewind couple scenes cause I was mesmerized by face acting. So I want more darkness, more skeeviness, more sociopathic tendencies thrown at this character.
  20. exactly. all technically good qualities that don't really reflect on goodness of a person.
  21. Well, he's staring at his own portrait because behind it is the wall of Stillwell's office. He's not staring at it he's staring through it. obsessive peeping Tom with mommy issues. lol still crazy, just different type of crazy. though who knows why HIS portrait is hanging there, and not, say, Deep's. That would have been interesting LOL
  22. I don't watch this show for great plots. All i need from it is heart, camp and chemistry between characters and actors. This episode delivered it on all fronts in a completely new way for this show. I actually was half holding my breath through the episode. It also got REALLY dusty in my room when i saw the off duty operators just walk in and take over the shift letting the swat finish up and the hostages to recover. I blame "quarantine brain" and screwed up emotion s for that.
  23. I kinda called northern lights halfway through the episode, but I thought it would be part of "the sky is falling" hysteria calls to 911. btw. I remember seeing a tiny patch of northern lights in WI on my way from Madison to Chicago. And it was very faint and mostly white. There was a heightened solar activity happening at that time... but I have a question to people who live or have visited places where the lights are a common and major occurrence. I have heard that even the full sky Aurora borealis is mostly white since human eye can't really distinguish all the waives. Cameras pick up what we usually see in the movies and photos. oh really? I thought it was done, and now we have TX to replace it. So my hope for Buck and Eddie is still alive. TK and his cop bf don't have 1/10 of the chemistry those two have.
