  1. But, did your kids have a beautiful new grandfather clock to admire purchased for the living area that isn't even built yet? I am sure Jill's kids told her they didn't want any Easter candy, it was sweet enough just seeing the World's Best Momma have a clock for a room that didn't exist.
  2. Now, now. Jill is very generous with her kids. Remember the Easter egg hunt? One of the kids got a hollow chocolate rabbit of her very own! I'm sure the others got to watch her eat it, too.
  3. In general, yes, at least while they're living at home. No matter what they're doing, the girls wear skirts because it is sinful for women to dress like men. They also must keep their knees and shoulders covered at all times because, otherwise, they might entice men into sinning. Meechelle famously was filmed discussing modesty while pulling Josie's sweater up over her shoulders so no one could see her upper arms in a sleeveless dress. Josie was something like 4 years old at the time. Meechelle was also shown water skiing on the show in a dress. Her knees were exposed and she apparently insisted they be blurred on the show. The Duggar daughters have been shown doing heavy construction, playing in the snow, going swimming. running 5 K's, all in skirts that were just inches above their ankles. I believe the first sight of a Duggar daughter in pants was Jinger when she was leaving for her honeymoon.
  4. Both of their mothers are still alive and the family sees them. But, Jill's SM is all about JILL. Even the posts featuring her kids are all about Jill. If Jill's mother wants a mention on Jill's FB or Instagram, she needs to step it up and send Jill some gifts. Jill will forge the note herself. Jill's parents are also fundies and she was homeschooled, which probably accounts for her barely passing acquaintance with grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  5. Sounds like exactly the sort of halfa**ed operation Josh Duggar would run. I think someone said that that particular lot was geared towards wholesalers; which I imagine means they tried to sell multiple autos to used car dealers, etc for resale and didn't do much with individuals coming in to buy a car for personal use. If they were mainly dealing with wholesalers, they probably could make arrangements to deliver the title and keys and get a check.
  6. I think JB and M have come too far to turn back now. They will continue to insist that the devil is torturing poor Joshy because he is so special and destined for greatness. To admit that they were wrong about him and that they spent decades favoring him and buying his way out of trouble for no good reason is not going to happen. I would hope that some of the older kids have gotten a clue, especially those with spouses and are no longer buying the myth that Josh is God's chosen.
  7. It made me wonder why she was so fixated on a 'grand' home that would impress everyone. I presume that part of the 'everything' her parents lost in the recession was the 9000 sq. ft. house. Overspending on a house to impress other people is generally a bad investment.
  8. Nursing board exams are online where I live. They're administered at monitored testing centers and the person taking the exam knows their result immediately. The program even stops the exam early if the applicant has gotten a large enough percentage right that they're guaranteed to pass. I'd expect most other states do their nursing board exams that way, My youngest sister went to law school and took the bar around 15 years ago, In Ohio, everyone taking the exam had to go to Columbus to take it on the designated dates in a huge auditorium. It was a written exam with essays as others have noted and lasted a couple days. She didn't get her results for a couple of months because of the time it took for the essays to be graded.
  9. Acidophilus capsules theoretically should help, but its important to know that the FDA considers them to be a dietary supplement and not a drug, so the quality control oversight of their manufacture is not very thorough. There is a specific type of Acidophilus which produces hydrogen peroxide as part of its metabolic processes. Hydrogen peroxide is acidic, so it alters the pH of the vagina which can decrease the risk of yeast infections, However, there are multiple varieties of Acidophilus and not all of them produce hydrogen peroxide. A couple years back, there was a study done in which the investigators went out to various pharmacies, big box stores and health food vendors and purchased bottles of Acidophilus capsules from about 15 different manufacturers. They took the caps back to the lab, opened the capsules and cultures them to detect the presence and amount of bacteria. Most of the capsules did contain one variety of Acidophilus or another; however, only something like 2 of 15 contained a variety that produced hydrogen peroxide; the rest did not. Meanwhile, they found a lot of other bacterial contamination including stuff like E coli present in most of the product they studied. I found this study after working with a group of midwives who told everyone with yeast to use Acidophilus capsules and all of the patients who didn't get better had to see the doctor. I was seeing a lot of people for whom Acidophilus did nothing or made things worse. When I read that study, it confirmed my observation.
  10. I'm glad you corrected yourself. Using plain yogurt externally does seem to help the symptoms of a yeast infection. I would not recommend using yogurt inside the vagina for any reason, it is more likely to promote infection than cure it. As others have noted, the vagina and the urethra are not connected and there is nothing that putting yogurt in the vagina would do for a bladder infection except maybe lead to a vaginal infection which could distract from the symptoms of a UTI. There are also studies that indicate that eating plain yogurt daily can decrease vaginal yeast infections in women who are prone to them. That's because the yeast that causes vaginal infections originates in the colon where it aids in digestion, Yogurt contains a variety of yeast that doesn't cause vaginitis and so, by eating it, you can replace the infectious yeast with non-infectious yeast. At least, that's what I read years ago.
  11. You can buy pyridium over the counter these days, Two common brands are Uristat and Azo Standard. You can usually find it where you find the vaginal yeast products, condoms, etc. I think the lemonade may be to acidify the urine a little to prevent stones from forming, If you're not prone to kidney stones, you probably don't need lemonade specifically. If you're postmenopausal and not on hormone therapy, you could ask your doctor about using vaginal estrogen or tablets. It doesn't go into the rest of the body and it reverses some of the atrophy that occurs with menopause. It is not just vaginal tissue that responds to estrogen, the urinary tract does, too. Estrogen can improve bladder function, strengthen the muscles there and help prevent UTI's.
  12. Just bringing this forward from December for those who want to see some of the windowless warehouse where Anna and the kids live.
  13. I've helped train SANE nurses for years. Most of them would be conducting their exams in the ER. Of course, that is probably because the kid or adult turned up in the ER after the assault. Since they are trained in the medical part of a pelvic exam (what I teach them) as well as collecting forensics for law enforcement purposes. they usually need access to swabs and labs and such; so I think the ER is their preferred location. Alas, there are also instances where they encounter significant injuries and need a medical consultation and sometimes a surgeon in a hurry which also is easier in the ER,
  14. Homeland Security is also involved in cyber security. Since Josh downloaded illegal images from the internet, it fell under their jurisdiction to investigate.
  15. I'd imagine that that would be the usual response of a regular person to this sort of thing. Anna is not a regular person though. She's had a very isolated upbringing and has been told since birth that she is subservient to men, first her father and then her husband. It's sort of like Stockholm syndrome, she's been a hostage so long, she doesn't realize who the bad guys really are. Maybe those who want to discuss other instances of abuse as part of the ongoing discussion of Josh could spoiler tag it? That way, people who'd rather not read it won't need to see it.
  16. I would hope that Josh' hired gunslinger, the big shot attorney has had a 'Come to Jesus' moment with him and let him know that he is in deep sh** and better mind his P's & Q's. I could also see Josh being dumb enough to think that authorities wouldn't be able to trace his downloads since Covenant Spy Network couldn't. He probably figured partitioning the computer and using TOR was enough to keep them from finding him.
  17. What's really sickening is how many children are living in abusive situations. So many that DCFS cannot possibly remove every child who needs it from his or her home. There are not enough foster parents or group homes for the kids who absolutely must be removed. Josh' kids aren't going anywhere unless somehow someone from DCFS can get evidence that he touched one of them. It's a sad commentary on our society, but it is true. I've dealt with it as a medical practitioner who delivered babies to women who were addicted or mentally ill or intellectually disabled and who were clearly not ready to parent their child. Social services will talk to the mom and ask questions while she is still in the hospital, but, unless she currently has an open case and other kids have been removed from her already; that baby is probably going home with her. And it will be a lucky break if someone from DCFS manages to stop by for a home visit anytime in the next 6 months unless someone files a report. Josh' kids, like the rest of the kids in the family, live in isolation where the only people they see every day are family members. People who have protected Josh at the expense of others including his sisters. Even if Josh has done something untoward and a family member knew, I don't think they'd call DCFS on him, ever. The kids don't have school teachers and other kids' parents and the tee ball coach who they might be able to confide in or who might witness something and report it.
  18. I've witnessed exactly one preliminary interview with a child, so limited experience here. I was observing, not participating. The child was about 5 and a teacher had reported unusual bruises on his legs. He told her 'Daddy did it'. She called DCFS. The kid was in his own house, his parents nearby but not in his sightline and not participating. They were there when the two interviewers came into the room and told the boy that these people were going to talk to him and he should tell the truth. The kid was playing with his legos or similar, seated on the floor at the coffee table. One interviewer did the vast majority of the talking, the other was just observing (I was watching remotely.) The interviewer, a young woman was very friendly and open with the child who was a typically chatty 5 year old. She asked him about his toys, his preschool, his friends, favorite foods, stuff like that and he happily answered. Eventually, she got around to his relationship with his parents. Do Mommy and Daddy ever play with you? Do they get mad if you misbehave? What happens then? The kid was kind of funny, 'oh yes, they get really mad. Daddy chased me with a sword!" Turns out, they got a new refrigerator and Daddy cut up the box into swords and covered them with foil and they played sword fight. When it came to the bruises on his legs, 'Daddy did it'. How? I was trying to ride my bike without the training wheels and Daddy let go and I fell'. Obviously, turned out to be a whole lotta nothing, but that's all I know about kids being interviewed. It was very relaxed and easy from what I saw. Of course, none of us thought the kid had actually been abused or coached, so that would be a big difference;
  19. I don't think that the DNA requirement means that Josh is a current suspect in a specific crime. I think it is that the judge knows, as do we, that someone who views images of children being abused is a high risk to abuse kids himself. She just wanted to make it clear to Josh that his profile will be run against any current and future cases of child molestation; so there will be no escaping consequences should his DNA be linked to any case, now or in the future. I believe this is pretty routine for this sort of criminal charge. Of course, knowing Josh' past history, there has to be some concern that there are other instances of criminal behavior out there. I certainly don't think he went 20 years without trying to assault other children after his initial victims.
  20. I hope that this is true and that Jill finds some comfort in seeing Josh finally face some consequences for his behavior. She and the others deserve that.
  21. Our resident experts tell us that this is unlikely to be a quick hearing, most likely, an hour or two. I think the media won't release anything until it is over.
  22. Those are 2 of the last people I'd expect to be there. If they were, I expect they were there to take notes to sell a story to the National Enquirer. I don't think either of them was there to support Josh. Maybe by Zoom for curiosity's sake. We know JBoob wouldn't have invited either one of them.
  23. Yes, that was shown on the show. Josh came strolling into the hotel, free as a bird while Anna, his personal sherpa, struggled carrying the bags. There was also a scene on the show where, while sitting in an easy chair, Josh snapped his fingers at one of his sisters and ordered her to bring him a coke. She did as she was told.
  24. I dunno, maybe if someone had bought her a dishwasher or promised to wash her dishes every night for a year; I'd start to wonder. But, I've been on both sides of the equation myself and I don't see anything wrong with someone spending 20 minutes washing the dishes, vacuuming the floor or dusting as a sign of support. I've done that kind of stuff for others and they've done it for me. One of my elderly neighbors recently died of cancer. When she was in the midst of chemo a year or so ago, she mentioned to her next door neighbor that she was too tired to change the sheets on the bed that week. That neighbor, a lovely human being, took it upon herself to go up to her bedroom and change the sheets right then and there. And came to her door every week after that to change her sheets. That is true grace and service to others, IMO and I am sure it was much appreciated.
  25. I only know about this from civil suits, but, in those, the attorneys for the plaintiff have to name every defendant and all charges against them from the start because they cannot add to the case later. So, if an attorney files a malpractice suit, often the attending physician as well as any residents, consultants, anesthesiologists or nurse practitioners involved in the care will also be named. They may well be dropped later as the case moves towards court, but, if they're not in the original complaint, they cannot be added to the case later. So, in the request for bond, is a lot of what we see stuff that the attorneys are already pretty certain is irrelevant and that the judge will probably dismiss; but the defense is just trying to cover all the bases, just in case?
