  1. I'm really liking the songs at the end of the episodes, particularly this one. SJP just doesn't come off as a real person to me and this episode solidified that. I'm really aware, for 30 minutes, that I'm watching SJP play pretend mother and busy career woman without assistants to help her navigate life. But Boyfriend likes it (even if he doesn't believe Thomas Haden Church was on Wings) and I really like the songs at the end, so I guess I'll keep watching? Maybe this will be like Togetherness and will be over soon.
  2. While watching the first episode with the Boyfriend... Boyfriend: Why do you think everyone is from Wings? Me: Thomas Haden Church was on Wings? Second episode... Boyfriend: The guy on Wings didn't have a moustache. Me: You couldn't grow facial hair 26 years ago. Things change. Thomas Haden Church was on Wings *** Other than I get to say Thomas Haden Church, I don't think this show with this cast is quite for me and that's kind of unfortunate. I was ready to love it!
  3. I know this comment probably doesn't go here, but it has been bothering me a little since last night. $50,000 doesn't split up 3-ways very easily, especially if the contestants don't like each other (and super especially if they didn't pick each other...do we know if they pick each other). Can you not picture Jewel saying she deserves more because of the variety of her position or something, like pumpkin carving is pumpkin carving and cake maker is cake making but sugar person does the accessories, tasting stuff, etc. (I know I didn't word that right, but do you see what I'm trying to say)? Also she was a horrible person and anyone who had the show on just as background noise would easily be able to tell that she was the instigator in her team's arguments. If she's going to be that controlling, maybe have her team up with Al of Sugar Psychos (that's a show I would watch with all the popcorn!). He was controlling with so much less drama and even though I probably would have told him to suck a d***, his team didn't seem to mind as much. "I need a stained glass window NOW!!!" Relax, dude, shit takes time to look good.
  4. "It says 'chee hoo-ah hoo-ah'!" That's so Samantha.
  5. I was going to comment something similar. It's just such a...different...voice that it is just....different. Not bad, it just sounds like someone putting on a fake voice. I don't know how to describe it but I knew if I poked around on here enough someone else would have noticed and commented on it. It isn't bad, just so unusual. Does any of this make sense?
  6. I loved Carey's velvet jacket. Cannot stand Carla. I can't tell if the editing is showing her as more obnoxious than she really is or if we're really experiencing what the other contestants have to work around; if I was one of the contestants I think I would blame my inability to focus and get stuff done/correct on her.
  7. Do we know if this was filmed near the Lindbergh Marta Station? It looked suspiciously like a film set up I was watching over the course of a few days several months ago, but then again they were going for the generic club look (and succeeded!). The character I really REALLY liked was the woman that Paper Boi was talking to and then when he realized that Darius left he was trying to get her phone number and she was just like "You can follow me on Instagram...I have a boyfriend." I enjoyed what she said about him getting what he wanted out of her, conversation and attention from a pretty girl for the night (she worded it better). No one has mentioned her on here yet and I just thought her couple of lines were very, very powerful (and awesome). My goal for when the show is on hiatus, since I recognize many of the filming locations is to start paying attention to all of the filming stuff I see around town (I'm a runner, we see a lot!)
  8. I don't understand John's(?) game plan if he is going to make the exact same cake every week. Has he never watched a cooking show? He said "it's a lot easier watching from home," so one would assume he's seen the show. Did he think the judges wouldn't notice? I don't understand and need a Talking Head of where his head is. I also wasn't completely paying attention, but when Damiano told Michelle(?) her dessert was too sweet, was she the one to ask him "What is your perfect dessert then? It's cake, there's sugar!" Because (1) awesome line and (b) I dislike him so much why are they trying to make him happen? He's never going to happen!!!
  9. I haven't decided if I want him as a boyfriend or a best friend...or both!
  10. I have a huge, fairly recent crush on Duff, so I'll watch any show I can find him in right now. I didn't really understand the wedding cake topper thing. Aren't those usually made of plastic? Did the coaches even show the contestants how to use fondant or did they just find the stuff at their stations? Some contestant-related questions/observations: I adore Carey; he is definitely the funniest contestant. I felt sorry for him when he was telling his 30th birthday cake baking story and it ended with his girlfriend breaking up with him that night. Judy and those songs. She narrates her life through song, doesn't she? The black outlining of Stephanie's top teeth. Is kinda gross, but maybe now she'll be able to go to a dentist?
  11. Have I told you lately how much I need these forums in my life? After spending at least 35 minutes explaining to my boyfriend that, no, the commercials are fake (we had to pause the TV) and he just wasn't getting it and then I thought it finally got it, but then the Swisher commercial and he said, "I guess they really are fake. But how can you tell which ones aren't real?" Then I spent way too much time explaining to him who Cree Summer is, etc. I really liked that the interview with the transracial guy was all near my work, I love when I recognize locations! My favorite parts were when Paper Boi realized he wasn't getting paid, when Paper Boi and the expert were agreeing, and the biggest laugh went to Drake Malfoy.

Oh, it's just me??!? Michelle Trachtenberg's adult voice and face and entire being an adult made me feel really old. The kid dressed like Tim should model. There was a little internal struggle for me as to weather I was rooting for the Tiger or the Scientist to win. I really liked when Scientist kid had to explain "it's not really blood, it's ketchup."
  13. I need help trying to win an argument with my Dad that popped up over the weekend. He has always watched Food Network, HGTV, etc. and I was telling him about the various shows I now watch on Food Network. He said that one time he was watching an episode of Worst Cooks and it was 4 short order cooks. He got incredibly too mad at me for even suggesting maybe he was mistaken, but what possible show could he have been referring to. I know it wasn't Worst Cooks because: 1. that would be HORRIBLE for business for whomever employs said worst short order cook and 2. that isn't the Worst Cooks format. Please note: I am nearly 40 and he's nearly-er 70 and he started screaming at me like I was a know it all teenager!
  14. I know who most of them are and I still don't care. Pretty positive I'm done with this show. :(
  15. I'm still a relatively new viewer, so I really like when they show older episodes that show that the judges actually talk about the food (kinda) when the contestants are done presenting. Bring that back, there is nothing useful gained from watching the contestants mumble about how anyone can leave and I'm just glad to be here and blahblahblah. I was amused by the guy's accent who was born in Italy but has cooked all over the world. At first it sounded like he was just putting on a Madonna-like fake accent, but then I remembered that my fake accent is more Dick van Dyke from Mary Poppins and Italian guy's accent was not the worst thing about him. Less is more sometimes, BUT NOT ON CHOPPED!!!!!

I've been waiting for someone to explain to me, maybe I missed it, but why was Jason Varitek a judge? Is it because he's eaten food in his lifetime? He's not on a different Food Network show right now that I know of so it wasn't that he happened to be in the building.
  17. The 227 theme song is a mainstay in my shower singing set list and I purposefully became best friends with a woman named Mary just so that I would be able to say "Maaaaaary" on a regular basis (and I tried to talk my boyfriend into finding an apartment with a stoop so I can be Pearl). Family Feud currently films close to my office and I was telling someone the other day about this episode and how much I wanted Jackée's dress as my prom dress. I swear sometimes Previously TV has my life bugged. :)
  18. Glad to see Barbara Eden go. I mean I know she's old, but she seemed extra elderly and it was driving me crazy. Old people can actually be competent.
  19. His face reminds me of "Cancer Puff;" it just has the puffiness of someone going through chemo. Barbara Eden, surprisingly, annoyed me the most but all of them were pretty aggravating and (as I've probably stated in all of the Food Network related forums) I don't cook At All.
  20. I feel like Loni Love was only on because she was in the area (filming the Worst Cooks thing maybe?) and didn't bring anything to the show. Neither did that other kid...except that he's a kid JUST LIKE the kids are also kids (thank you Amber for that clarification). Lexi was making me nervous the entire time, but I'm sure if I would also lose an entire plate of fries. I also don't understand why the kids introduce themselves at the beginning of every presentation. Do the adults do that, too?
  21. I. Love. This. Show. And (surprisingly) The Boyfriend likes it, too! He does not like when I say "That's my office!" every time they show my office building (I live ITP and work downtown and I commute via Marta every single day). We've only watched the first episode so far, and I love it because I recognize all of the locations as "home" and I just like the weirdness (the dog, bus guy, tree measuring).
  22. The blond teen contestant, who I hated just from the commercials, turned out to be the less annoying of the 2 final contestants. The Overachiever Teen was the most...ugh!!! The first teen out after the appetizer round was a pain, too. You know who was awesome though? Alex. The little wink she gave the blond made my heart grow at least 1.25 sizes.
  23. I'm not sure why I cried when Tyra was eliminated, but I did. She seems like a very young 11 years old. Basically, this is Amber's to lose.
  24. Isn't Amber one of the older (if not oldest) kids here? I felt like maybe she's watched enough of these to know what they're supposed to look like. As for Salvatore...I mean the kid is only 10 years old. If he acted like that at maybe 13 or 15 then I would consider calling him an ass. But with his stepping on Lexi's toes and then not realizing it, it kind of reminded me of that study (paraphrasing) in classrooms where boys do step over girls answers, it's the classroom culture. If that makes any sense. Even though Sal looks at least 12, he's probably a young 10.
  25. Stray thoughts on the last episode. Everyone is like Sal this and Sal that, but in her critique Tia pulls out the mom voice and starts with "Salvatore..." How awesome when Lexi spoke up and asked what 'varied' means...we (me) forget that that isn't necessarily a word that a 10 year old would know.
