  1. Jimmy's apology was really a dig at Chuck, especially when Jimmy said that he shouldn't have treated his brother (Chuck) that way. It was an FU. I think Kim and Jimmy are going to make mincemeat out of Chuck at the Board of Bar Overseers meeting and those pictures will show just his crazy and unfit Chuck is. Howard will have to ask Chuck to resign because if/when word gets out, it will scare away the big name clients. A friend of mine is finding the show to be very slow this season, even this past episode, and I wonder if some of that is because she never watched Breaking Bad (oh, the sacrilege!). I tried to watch this episode through her eyes and I can see how it might be a little boring and hard to follow. I love the camera work probably because it is so reminiscent (that shot from under the water looking up reminded me of the pink toy floating in Walter's pool). Had to laugh when Mike said that he might end up working for Gus.
  2. Way to play the long con, Chuck. Very impressive. Whoever writes Chuck Sr.'s lines does a great job because I cannot stand the guy. What a tool!
  3. Setting up the scene, for a split second the camera focused on the door of the U.S. customs truck before any action took place.
  4. I thought that the guy who stole the laptop was someone working for Chuck. Chuck knew the S&M stuff would be a problem, so he's trying to get that piece of information out of the equation when he formally throws his hat into the ring for the election. Also there are other important people on the laptop who partake in it, so Chuck might have an opportunity to coerce them into supporting him, or else...... But what about the pictures Bobby got from his guy? What happened to them? Did Bobby give them up to Wendy? Did he have copies? Wrt Axe's voice messages, he's not used to anyone defying him and he ran the range of emotions with Lara. He was frustrated that she didn't answer him, he was upset that he couldn't control her, he was pissed that the situation didn't resolve itself quickly enough. He tried to sweet talk her but it didn't work and rarely is Bobby made to wait for gratification. So, yeah, I get it. Why we're all those detectives at Lara's brother' house? Or was that a house they were investigating? Welcome to the dark side, Taylor, where money trumps everything else. Guess Taylor was pro Occupy Wall Street until push came to shove. When money comes into the picture, people easily lose their moral compasses. That being said, I have no problem with Taylor liking their new-found wealth. If you earn it legitimately, you can spend it to get what you want. I much prefer that to someone who is a hypocrite about his/her/their wealth.
  5. This week's episode was centered around moose hunting. Not all of the Last Alaskans were successful. Tyler's brother is staying on for a while, which is going to prove very helpful since a Selden baby is on the way. Although it is early in the pregnancy and Ashley is sturdy, I get a little nervous when she's carrying heavy stuff and overexerting herself. Have heard of too many miscarriages lately (friends and family) so it's my knee jerk reaction even though it is an old wives' tale. Heimo and Edna are a beautiful love story. They value and respect each other so much. It warms my heart. How the two of them hike for miles in rough terrain is remarkable. And Edna's knee problem (she didn't give it a name but it sounded like a torn ACL or MCL) which she said happened three years ago, is not something that will ever go away.....she should wear her uncomfortable knee brace if she wants to keep hunting. As a parent, it was interesting to hear all the life lessons that Charlie learned in his childhood from his parents. Nice to know that maybe my own sons picked up a thing or two listening to me (I am sure they did but it's always nice to get some validation). What strikes me most about all the Last Alaskans is they are humble. They realize that they are not in control---Mother Nature is---and they embrace that instead of fighting it.
  6. I thought for sure that Jimmy was going to ask Mike to sneak into Chuck's place at some point and steal the tape recorder but Jimmy's anger blinded him. His emotions are his Achilles' heel.
  7. Not to mention the fact that Chuck basically stole Mesa Verde away from Kim. Chuck is an ungrateful asshole who is still living out his childish jealousy and his sibling rivalry with Jimmy. It was highlighted when Mrs. McGill was on her death bed last season; Jimmy went out to get some sandwiches while Chuck stayed behind in her hospital room and their mother's last words were "Where's Jimmy?" She couldn't care less that Chuck was there at her bedside, being a good son. Chuck never told Jimmy that their mother asked for him right before she died because he was so pissed that their mother loved Jimmy more. But then again, everyone prefers Jimmy over Chuck.
  8. My take was that Naomi had had enough of the dark side, between the killing of the Somnabulist's captain's husband and the injury to Amos. She needed to do some hands-on helping just to cleanse her soul a little.
  9. Maybe Henry is a math/computer genius who will be a much better asset for the KGB than Paige could ever be. I can't decide if the writers don't know what to do with her or if she isn't that good of an actress or what, but I personally find her story line boring, predictable and annoying.
  10. I thought Philip was equally upset over killing that guy in the lab needlessly and the fact that he received bad information from Gabriel (and those higher up). If that info was bad, what else was a lie? And how many others had been jeopardized due to poor intel?
  11. She had no one she could really talk to without fear of being judged, no one she could really be herself with. That in and of itself is isolating.
  12. Why would she have to worry about supporting herself and the twins? She'd get everything from the marriage, even if Perry didn't leave a will. If she sold the house, she'd end up with a few more million dollars. Dr. Calamity Jane told Celeste that Perry was sick and that Celeste was as well. Celeste's sickness was her co-dependency. So when Celeste and Perry were talking in the car, Celeste was saying that she hoped Perry would get better (if for no other reason than so the kids would be okay with him as their father) but she knew she couldn't stick around to "help him get better," because she finally realized that she'd been down road with him many times, to no avail.
  13. So I guess the shoes never really came into play. I would have loved to see the bottoms of his shoes, although he probably wore boots with that leather outfit. Also good thing Jane could tell by his voice because she didn't appear to have a chance to sniff him.....and he was wearing an Elvis wig and sunglasses for goodness sakes. How did Celeste get away with wearing that cutout dress, what with all the bruises she had on her from the most recent beatings. Guess I'm getting stuck in the weeds. I had to chuckle about Bonnie being all peace and love, but ended up being the one killing Perry. Some things are good in theory until it involves you.
  14. About the twins and Ziggy being around the same age, I figured that Celeste was pregnant already with twins and Perry wasn't having sex with her because she was higher risk, so he decided he was entitled to cheat. Raping Jane might have come about because he had to do something violent when he got rebuffed and Jane was a good replacement for Celeste at that point. We saw him play the victim time and again.
  15. ^^ I think if it was going to come, it would have already.
  16. She's supposed to be Joan Blondell. And I think she's doing a pretty good job of it. Blondell was very sassy.
  17. I could tell it was Toby Huss right away, as he had the same mannerisms that he uses on Halt and Catch Fire, so it was difficult for me to see him as Sinatra. After what I thought was a slow start, Susan Sarandon is killing it now. There are some scenes in which she just IS Bette Davis. Jessica Lange has come a long way in her career, from the ingenue in Tootsie (one of my favorite movies of all-time) to this. She's had an incredible run. ETA--I was thinking about all the praise being heaped on Susan Sarandon's portrayal of BD and thought about how she probably had an easier time than Jessica Lange; BD had more vocal and physical tics that are somewhat easier to nail than JC had.
  18. It was at the part when Naseri (who tracked down the blond gf, bound and gagged her and was able to attach a bomb in five minutes after escaping the bombed warehouse) called the guard at CTU that I stopped my DVR and erased the show. I just couldn't anymore. I started getting annoyed when Isaac asked Eric why he (Eric) had to be the one to find Naseri and Eric gave the look that Jack Bauer would have given in the past, a tortured look that is supposed to explain everything. But the kid who plays Eric is no Keifer Sutherland and just plain sucks in this role. Yeah, I'm done with this ridiculous show. I used to love it.
  19. I don't believe that Perry ever really wanted to control his anger or his behavior. Everything he does is to manipulate. He's not "only" an abuser. He's a narcissistic sociopath who doesn't really think HE needs help. He thinks Celeste needs help. Going to a marriage counselor is just a part of the cycle of violence. He probably thought Dr. Calamity Jane would buy his bullshit, but she didn't really. I certainly didn't, but I lived with and put up with an emotional abuser for decades. This wasn't the first domestic abuse couple Dr. CJ has seen and with experience, one can become quite good at noticing patterns of behavior pretty damned quickly. Wrt the music that the kids are listening to, when I was growing up, my father had a dental office in our house and he'd tune the living room stereo (which was also wired to speakers in his office) to what used to be called elevator music, show tunes, Frank Sinatra type stuff. As a result, as a young girl I became fluent in that music (when I watched Name That Tune in the mid-70's, I was able to name most tunes in 2-3 notes and sometimes even knew the tune just from the description even before the music started). Now kids are surrounded by music and if they hear something they like, all they have to do is google it on a computer or other device. Have got to say that those twins are gorgeous little boys. Perfect casting.
  20. Dr. Calamity Jane needed a way to get through to Celeste who is in deep denial and continues to blame herself for Perry's behavior. Since Celeste is an attorney, Dr. CJ came at her with that same approach, something Celeste would be able to identify with a finally understand.
  21. I thought Madeline's green vomit was the salad coming back up. Weren't Bonnie and Nathan preparing spices or greens when they were sitting outside? Also Madeline took a tranquilizer and was drinking wine and that's never a good combination.
  22. What would be the point? Sue Jane for what? Jane doesn't have anything although Renata probably could get her on some sort of assault charge which would most likely end in probation.
  23. If those dogs are anything like my dog, they can go for hours and hours without peeing (my female dog can go about 12-14 hours if need be even though she is elderly). I wish I had her bladder! I believe I saw Ruger in an coming attraction. Once again, I am ecstatic that Bob was able to return to his beloved wilderness.
  24. If you are truly devoted to this lifestyle, you quickly realize that shooting willy nilly at everything and anything only ruins your own hopes for the future. The calves will one day grow up and produce their own offspring, thus keeping the caribou population large enough for you to continue to hunt. And they never want to make an animal suffer needlessly. It's part of their pact with nature, I think.
  25. You said it better than I ever could. This show has become an untethered mess of nonsense although I found the CTUUD's entrance into the Den of Jihad so entertaining and hilarious. Can we just make this show into 24: Isaac & His Crew? The actor playing Eric simply cannot carry this show. He doesn't have very much range and the bad writing makes it even more painful to watch. And what the hell is Jimmy Smits doing? I used to think he was a pretty good actor. He's bringing the boring. Or maybe he's also an innocent victim of a horrible script.
