  1. I just find it funny becauses Maks (and Erin for that matter) never shut up about Nicole being a dancer all season long, when yes she had training and experience, but she was primarily known for being a singer first and foremost, where as Heather started as a dancer and transitioned into acting. Naturally he's not made a comment regarding any unfairness because he's the one benefitting now. Personally I don't mind. She never trained in ballroom and we've seen so many Jazz/Contemp/Hip Hop dancers on SYTYCD attempt Ballroom and suck, plus she has to train each week and learn just like the rest, plus connect with the voters.
  2. I think two gymnasts in a row is hardly anything compared to how many footballers have we had now like 18, including 3 in one season. They wanted a gymnast right from the Olympics and Simone couldn't commit yet, so they got Laurie, but how do you turn down the most gold medal awarded gymnast in all time when she wants to do it. It'd be stupid to be like "no we don't want you", honestly. I'm ok with it if they let Sasha have her, that way it's with a pro who's not won or even made the finals.
  3. Where's the buzz that Allison's out? I've just seen that Jenna is, but I wouldn't mind if Allison is out. Never enjoyed her choreo and all her partners seemed to struggle except for Riker but he was a massive ringer.
  4. I think Jordin Sparks would be great! She's one of those types where she's not a huge music star right now, but a big enough get as a former Idol winner and Grammy nominated singer. She's tall though I think like 5'11 in heels so she'd be someone good to give Artem to take him off old lady duty. We had Kellie and she ended up winning, but I think an Idol winner would be a big draw.
  5. Danielle Fischel is the perfect type of DWTS contestant, early 90's nostalgia, and i'm surprised she hasn't done it yet. I think she'd be a good dancer.
  6. Allison is a fantastic dancer, but I've never enjoyed her Ballroom and Latin dancing, and it's no mistake her partners haven't done well with the exception of Riker only because he was a huge ringer, who strangely enough did more competitive Latin/Ballrom than she ever did. I always just found her choreography very manic and lacking any light and shade.
  7. My wish is to not have a football player. So sick of them honestly and the need to cast 3 in season 22 was overkill IMO.
  8. Are we supposed to get some take away from Will's scene with that Silicon Valley guy, Zach? It seemed business stuff with the phone number thing, but it vaguely gave me gay vibes with the "take his phone, put in your number" thing and the whole like "call me anytime" type of thing. I know there's been no official stating of the character's sexuality, but we know he's idolized Rayna since a child and I'm not aware of too many straight men who idol female country singers like that.
  9. With Maks and Derek out, TPTB will probably try their hardest to get Mark back to get a popular, former winner back.
  10. Aside from being with Derek, I don't think ANYONE called Bindi winning at the cast announcement. From then until even a few weeks into the season, it was "Nick has this". I don't think Nyle was "pre-ordained" at the cast announcement. He was handsome and recently famous, but aside from that, being deaf we had no idea he could dance in any way, (even if I think he didn't deserve to win). Sharna won't get nominated. If Mark couldn't even get any nominations for some of his dances with Paige, or his Contemporary with Alexa, Sharna doesn't stand a chance, IMO. Her choreo for James was good, but it doesn't stack up when you put it against all choreography possible for nominations. Mark never got nominated for any dances with Paige or Sadie, arguably two of his most creative seasons recently, Sharna won't and I'd be incredibly surprised if she did.
  11. Jordin Sparks would be a big get for the show as a former Idol winner and she's just famous enough to be a big star, but not busy enough or huge enough to think it couldn't happen. Ashley Tisdale crossed my mind as well.
  12. Katherine got to second because she was an incredible dancer with a good personality. Any added help from VPN voting was bonus. People act like international makes a huge dent. I really don't think it does.
  13. She was not on top for many weeks in the middle and only had 1 point ahead of James last night AND he danced last on the finals. Yes, the show surely made sure James had no chance. Give me a break.
  14. For all the ones that complained Laurie had it sewn up from Week 1, I think there it really could've gone either way in the top 2. Did I want James to win? No, but I would've understood why if he did. That's the reality of these competitions, especially in dancing. Many times i didn't like or agree with the winner, but you move on and hope the next season the one you like ends up winning. Did I think Nyle deserved it over the far superior dancer Paige? No, but he did, and I woke up the next day and life moved on. In relation to your final sentence, that's a part of why I gravitate more towards the female celebs. The eye is always on the women to do the fancy, complicated steps so a good dancing female celeb will always get my attention. The men often get away with a lot more for masking charisma, smiles, shaking their hips for not great dancing. There has been so many times a male won, or got far based on those things. Not to mention the intense hatred the female celebs seem to get. Look how many seasons, the women get picked off so quickly and we have 1 or 2 left in the last few weeks. It was odd this time around how it was the men getting picked off instead.
  15. I mean some could say Vanilla Ice could've lasted longer, maybe Babyface had he not messed up so bad. But I think the 90's nostalgia of both ate into each other's votes. But I agree in that there was no real shocking elimination this season and honestly, it was kind of refreshing.
  16. An argument can be made for James getting overscored many times as well. I don't get the consistent need to bring up Laurie every single post and in such a completely negative way. I'm not in a "gymnastic club" and I voted for her, so it's not just that. People liked her and that's the bottom line. James got to the finals being largely unknown and that's incredible for him. But yes, instead let's continue to criticize Laurie and focus on the negative right?
  17. I guess my overall point was it's neither here nor there. The show definitely gave James/Sharna every opportunity to succeed. Getting to dance last many times, great scores, the car crash mentioned multiple times, and even closing the finals last night, even a 10 on a dance with an obvious stumble. He could've made up that 1 point deficit. It's happened before, but Laurie just got more votes, who knows how much more, but the chatter about TPTB screwing him over by closing international voting is under the bridge because we'll never know. Now if they open it again next season, that's suspect, however.
  18. I don't understand complaining about something we never will know if it would've made anything different. There's VPN's for the ones who really passionately wanting to vote from Canada, the types of people who likely would've been compelled to super vote as much as possible anyway. It's done it's over, we have a winner, so why the grumble of what could've been. Like others have said, I doubt Canada voting would've turned it upside down and there's no guarantee James would've had every single Canadian vote. Nobody also buys seats for a nobody either. I don't understand the hatred for Laurie, you'd think she ran over people's dogs or something. If anything he was only 1 point down, nearly nothing. It was down to the votes and Laurie got more, plain and simple. In fact James got an extra point, a 10 for a dance with an obvious mistake, and he went last with an emotional freestyle. I don't know what else the judges could've done. They can't go and give James all 10's and the other 8's and a few 9's. Now that would've looked extremely fixed.
  19. There's no proof that James would get every single Canadian vote just cause he's Canadian. It's like saying all the white people vote for James because he's white too, or whatever stereotype you wanna say. Even if they did I doubt it's a dent in the overall picture. If James really had the complete or overwhelming vote totals he could've made up that 1 point deficit. Nyle did it last season beating Paige who had 2 points on him. In the end, complaining about it is nonsense because it's a "shoulda, coulda, woulda" situation.
  20. I'm glad Laurie won. Aside from being a great dancer and an adorable partnership with Val, it's nice to see some diversity in the winners. She's now the youngest winner and the first Latina celeb to win. James had the edge in a lot of polls online, and the pimp spot last night made me think he could do it, but when Laurie danced last and got announced as doing the tour that's when I knew. Which is fine. I might actually go to the tour now because I find her very exciting and dynamic to watch. James did well and surprised a lot of people. He wasn't challenged enough in Latin but he was a good celeb for the show. Funny, had charisma and took it seriously and that's all you can ask. Sometimes you just get celebs that come in 2nd/3rd that could've won in another season. Paige, Janel, Katherine, and Amy come to mind as great dancers that just got stuck in a season with an unbeatable celeb.
  21. Look, im exhausted of beating this dead horse. I think Laurie deserves it, and that James didn't prove himself in all dances, and you think the opposite. Doesn't mean i'm right or wrong, or you the same. All I stated was I can't remember the last time someone did so much non-Latin especially in the second half of the season, and when TPTB could've let James prove himself a little tonight, they gave him a Waltz/Foxtrot fusion. I know Laurie got AT/Foxtrot fusion but she's at least done Samba, Salsa, Paso (whether you thought it was good or bad) in the last 4 weeks.
  22. Not as a solo and I was mentioning dances that are now regularly performed on the show. Once again, don't know why there's the "constant" need to bring up Laurie in every single comment. She didn't do Rumba because she's 16 dancing with someone who's 30. The point was a judge gave it a 10 when the mistake was so obvious. 10 means perfect and perfect it wasn't.
  23. I have literally no idea why you brought up Laurie. All i did was state the facts that he never did the typical party dances at all. That;s not something up for debate.
  24. Yet both dances that don't require rhythmical changes and hip action. Samba, Cha Cha, and Salsa are considered the "party" dances and he only did 1 back in Week 3 and it wasn't his strongest dance.
  25. To my knowledge, of the typical, regular dances (Jitterbug and Charleston excluded) the top 3 missed doing the following dances: (in duet or group format) Laurie: Rumba, Slow Waltz James: Samba, Salsa, Contemporary, Slow Waltz Calvin: Rumba, Samba, Contemporary
