I think she didn't articulate it well at all, but I think I got the gist of what she was getting at, this after talking to a few of my transwoman friends and reading things from the community in general and my all things primer, watching Melissa Harris Perry where she's had a number of transwomen on to to discuss. I didn't watch the show so I don't know how she presented, but she has not been there fighting the fight or getting the shit beat out of her or broke as shit because nobody will hire her. Courage is all in the lens you view it from. I was very happy to hear her speech at the ESPYS but that was a controversial pick in the community as well.

The most important thing that Raven said, and it's been widely discussed in the community, is that not every trans person can afford to look perfect the day they come out.

I really wish they would have covered the Hucksterbee's comments and not just Gov. Perry. Hucktsterbee's commnents were beyond hideous. Huge difference between Sen. Graham's cute phone destruction video and the heinous things Hucksterbee said to try to get above the Trump noise.

Not cured. had to watch. Nicolle's dress is fabulous and Whoopi can't stop talking with her mouth full. Color me surprised, they are covering the New York Magazine cover story.

Yesterday morning, one of the guests on Up, put forth my argument for why maybe just maybe, it was a good idea that Hillary used her own mail server - all the hacking of .gov servers, exposing the personal information of millions of government workers. Anyways, 31 minutes in and mostly it's been the pro-Trump, anti-Hillary (easily anticipated with the presence of Ron Fornier) show. yawn eta: My blood is still boiling about the final segment of MTP yesterday where Chuck Todd brought up the bullshit Planned Parenthood videos and the Republican panelist told bald faced lies. I only caught it when I turned on MSNBC just before 4 a.m. cdt.

I might watch taped Friday - wonder what's up with Carrie Ann? I guess it's almost time for DWTS to announce it's fall cast.

Afterbuzz from July 22nd. Kira joins for discussion of Season 6. For the record, I can't stand Christy Olsen. (sp)

Seashell, I'm so happy for you and your boys! I hope that the BBQ was a blast and the boys enjoy their new school, I know your mind and heart must be in a much better place. ♥

Since when are fart jokes mannerly? I'm cured! Went all week with nary a view. tee hee ...this of course until Whoopi once again does something wicked stupid.

That was it. I knew it was something about being Arkansas based.

Thank you for checking in WanderWoman, my thoughts are with you daily.

Uff-duh, intentional misspelling.

Always, even when she's trying to be pleasant from what I've seen. A few things, first, from what I've read the reason that InTouch hired a law firm in Arkansas was that it is a requirement for a FOIA request in Arkansas, it has to come from a Arkansan attorney. Next, IANAL but it seems to me that the way to go about changing a statute if that is your intent, would be to work with your state legislators, not file a lawsuit for damages. Seems to me that a lawsuit is to seek restitution for perceived damages, not to fix an imperfect law. Finally, it's pretty clear that Huckabee knows he'll never get out of Iowa since he's keeping so connected to this horrible family. No broad appeal to the middle. And I agree, this attorney's specialties don't match the situation at hand at all.

Me too. I like the roles that they've given Ronan and Joy since they canceled their shows. You know who I want to see more of? Trymaine Lee. They have given Ayman much more exposure which I enjoy as well.

I assume she signed a contract, I also think that she's serving as "momager" like all these fame seeking mothers. I have no idea when Kira and Kalani's father divorced, however is she not allowed to start a new life and family because she also is serving as "momager" to Kalani? Holly left her kids behind, Jill left her other kids behind. I'm not familiar with Jessalyn and JoJo's family composition. What is it that makes Kira worse?

Word, I hate Chuck Todd and his smarmy airs. Have you seen any of the videos? They were made in association with that scumbag O'Keefe, they are so heavily edited it's laughable. Thinking that millennials that are not fundies are stupid is a big mistake. And don't forget that we must all pee our collective pants because two IGs (whom Joe claims are a-political with no evidence) have suggested to the DOJ that there may a criminal element in Hillary's email discretion and that it's a situation comparable to Petraeus. Hmmm, I don't think she was trading state secrets with her extramarital lover. eta: Joe needs to stop lying about public support for the Iran nuclear deal along with kissing Trumps rear.
-
Meh, I don't know that, do you have insider information that proves it? I find Jill to be be a psycho crazy stage mom, along with Melissa, with Holly trotting close behind, the only calm mother these days is Jess.

As long as they keep Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow, I'm okay. I cannot stand that loud mouth Ed Schultz, even if he's from "up north", lol. They can even give Chris back the Saturday slot, I'm not a huge Kournacki fan, he gets too zeroed in on things (like Christie and the GWB). I despise Chuck Todd so I won't be watching him.

That has nothing to do with the quote that I was responding to. The quote I was responding to specifically dealt with Maddie's dance ability. Not one bit more than Jill, Holly, Melissa or Kelly and Christi back in the day. They all do it, it's an acceptable mentality in this group - and it's one of poor sportsmanship.

More Chuck Todd, how unfortunate. Seems my teevee will be dialed on Al Jazeera even more.

@tessa, no. NYDE had no more tour dates for the season last time I checked in March. Here is their current schedule, so if any coincide in the future it wouldn't be an invitational. You can always check against the Dance Moms Wiki site as well, though the links and references are better for an episode when it's in the "spoiler" area then once it's aired in my estimation. eta: when I call them fake it is because of the invitational aspect of them, some of them are actual competitions that tour, but when the show records them, they aren't true full competitions open to anyone to register. I think the hiring of Emma for DWTS probably happened after the invitational studios were set, time wise. Also, this is the week that Maddie did the trio on DWTS which probably explains why she didn't have a solo.

Mika has always been a haughty bitch, nothing new there.
-
I call bullshit on JimBob saying no to an offer of a spin-off. That's nonsensical, so nonsensical it has to be a lie. How Christian.
-
None of them are. They are invitationals set up specifically for the show, and I'm pretty sure the show selects what studios are allowed to compete (meaning you can't just randomly rsvp the invitation, you must be accepted). Also, they sell tickets to these invitationals, real dance competitions don't charge admission, however, dance conventions do charge for "observers", I think as a means to weed out some of the parents because those hotel rooms get ridiculously crowded.
-
Especially at a well established convention/workshop national. Sia noticed Maddie because of exposure through Dance Moms, but Dance Moms could have been developed around any one of hundreds of studios across the country - then it could have been another dancer, or not. Unknowable but highly likely. I can't stand Melissa but I'd say that there is undue stress on a lot of marriages due to the cost of dance (or any of the high dollar extra curriculars if the family isn't well established in the upper middle class). Children hear and know why there is tension in a marriage whether you want them to or not. What's especially disgusting is that Melissa went out and found a sugar daddy to finance her stage mama existence.
