  1. Perception is so funny, I thought she was just exaggerating her facials because she hates horror stuff as much as I do... it actually scares me and I don't like it! First time I saw the Exorcist was at a drive in, I hid in the space under the glove compartment I was so scared! That's my take regarding Rosie, it's her role to represent and advocate for Latinos as a Latina. We have a full set of perspectives now, Black, Republican, Latina and Gay. I'm pleased that there appears to be grown-ups at the table compared to the last oh, since Joy left.
  2. I think he's there to promote a health initiative he's doing, he was on Morning Joe a few days ago, but I wasn't paying close attention. I know that he was talking about how important vaccines are - laughs, now there's a change! Generally, I like Whoopi but not so much in this venue. She's really obnoxious with her talking over, having to have the last word and transitions, along with support for incredibly shady/questionable people and situations... eta: I lied, lol. There is a new Drumline 2 movie and then series coming up. He did talk a lot about health though so I forgot.
  3. If they have to be doing an Always campaign, I sure as hell wish it was the Like a Girl campaign if they aren't going to concentrate on issues related to females with incontinence. For a long time after Ro left, Sherri did a lot of the in-show ads. I loved the beginning of the show and the stories of meeting the presidents. Whoopi's mom, Rosie's friend were hilarious about Clinton. We've just a couple days to the end of Mental Illness Awareness week... is this all we're getting?
  4. From her Wiki: Mark McKinnon, is a Republican that I respect along with Mike Smerconish and Steve Schmidt. Both Steve and Nicolle could be really obnoxious during the McCain campaign but they were doing a job. We need more Republicans like this group of folks. Remember the days when there were centrist Republicans?
  5. This would be more useful than the dreck we are seeing. Also, they have desperately started a new ad campaign for the show on MSNBC, I caught it last night on of all things, Lawrence's last word which I ended up watching sort of by accident. Does anyone really watch that show? I mean would anyone see an ad there that would make them say, wow, now I wanna watch Morning Joe because I never have? Does MSNBC not realize how self-referential they are?
  6. Here is the working Just for Kix link. They are based in my state, we have been buying dance basics from them for 16 years... what a beautiful message. CHLOE IS FREE!
  7. Yaaaas. :P It's a really aggressive look too! I can't figure out why, it's almost the same everyday. I should explain that my perception may be off because I mostly just listen and do not actively watch because I'm working, unless something strikes me and then I wind it back to see. I have been winding back for the last few shows to see her entrance and I meant to post about this but got too politically pedantic yesterday. She looks like she wants to pop someone, do you think it might be the song and the line "haters gonna hate hate hate"?
  8. I'm glad Whoopi challenged Nicolle about voting rights and the SCOTUS; this, along with women's reproductive rights are two of the main reasons that I will always vote for the Democratic candidate (please oh please oh please not Hillary in 2016!) over my preference of more liberal green candidates, it's about judicial appointments. We've had some terrible decisions come our way with this Conservative, corporate 5-4 SCOTUS - striking down parts of the voting rights act in Shelby, Hobby Lobby, Citizens United - which is why yesterday was quite a pleasant surprise for me. Though they may take this back up if one of the district courts decide the other way which would ripen it for a writ, Ginsberg asserted as much a few weeks ago. Roberts surprised many with his decision where he "upheld" the ACA (he didn't completely, he just didn't roll it) which may inform Nicolle's stance that he understands his place in history, but it's weak. Ted Olson on the other hand as a true small c conservative has done a lot on the subject of marriage equality; he fought Prop 8 and took it all the way to the Supreme Court. He's not a hypocrite, you want small government? Stay the hell out of people's bedrooms. I have to say this, I'm a bit of a hypocrite about the books from administration officials because I ate up books that were anti-Bush as they came out during his administration, but the timing of Panetta and Clinton's in this administration are just particularly horrible with what's going on with ISIL/Syria/Iraq and upcoming mid-term elections. These books could have come out 45 days from now and not had as much influence on this election and still start building a case for Clinton in 2016. I personally think many politicians parse their opinions on lots of things when they are running for office, and my opinion is that both Clinton and Obama did a lot of that in the 2008 primaries in a big way. Obama, both on civil unions and the individual mandate did a 180, but everyone (Liberals) hated Hillary's AUMF vote. Now Panetta is throwing out what sounds like Republican Talking Points about Obama militarily... for the good or ill of it - that's politics!
  9. I sure don't remember it ever happening, but there are large gaps in my viewing experience with this show. And though there was disagreement it was not contentious and nasty. I'm on Biden's side, I wish folks wouldn't write tell all books the minute they leave an administration, and this goes for Hillary Clinton and Leon Panetta, especially since I think Nicolle's political spidey sense (or her attempt once again at undermining Obama a bit) is spot on. I think Mr. Panetta intends to back Mrs. Clinton for POTUS in 2016. I need to take back my earlier post I guess, because of course, they brought up the election and Whoopi bragged on her Rock the Vote bit. I thought it was a lot of fun to see Nicolle and Sarah Paulson together. I highly enjoyed both the book and the movie, though I really wanted the movie to be the whole story and not so focused on Palin and McCain. Finally, darnit, I got spoiled on Betsey Johnson getting the boot last night, I'm a huge fan of hers eta: Leon Panetta is bringing it up in his book and in his interviews promoting the book. It sounds like Heilemann and Halperin's (Authors of Game Change) Bloomberg show has already flopped? .
  10. Thanks for sharing and yes, spot on. Though I'll continue to contend, if we have to have a zebra on the panel I'm not expecting them to change their stripes, I just prefer this type of zebra over the rabid, hand scratching, shrieking Fox Talking Points repeating type.
  11. *That's what she always does, it's her most annoying shtick, it gets old. Her method of taking down Obama is to attempt to point out what he hasn't accomplished whilst avoiding the long list of what he has, even under complete Republican obstructionism. We are 30 days out from the mid-terms, I don't think Nicolle is going to get rabid. With Ro seemingly muzzled and Whoopi's more Libertarian bent, I wonder if much will really be said at all? Which is a shame for the Liberal base, because Democrats generally speaking, get hammered in the mid-terms over low turnout and it looks like we could get clobbered again; I sure don't want to lose the Senate. I was curious too, but I'm hoping that some of the tension and less than personal information in the conversations is somewhat related to just settling into the show, which will probably take a few months. I'm interested to see how that develops. I'm also very interested to see how Nicolle develops over time as well, this is such a new venue for her, I hope that she remains likable and somewhat adorkable through the process, she did take her note from Wendy Williams and did some googling about the RHW characters over the weekend. I noted that she didn't especially register any shock over the Guidice situation which to me is reprehensible and appalling (the Guidices not that Nicolle didn't register). p.s. I didn't watch much of it, just read about it here, but I think they were auditions as well...
  12. Yup. At least it was nuanced I'll give her that. I'm under no illusion that she won't say things like this, she is after all THE REPUBLICAN ON THE PANEL, as she tells us almost daily. Laughs, can you imagine S.E. Cupp on this? Seriously, y'all we dodged a bullet there!
  13. The smack down of Bitsy was epic, reminded of the Zbigniew Brzezinski "stunningly superficial" smack down of Joe Scarborough.
  14. This is making me CRAZY! She's not the only doing it either, I think I've heard Mika and some of the weekend folks on CNN do the same thing and they are supposed to be news shows. I'm on the Ben Affleck acted like a douche Friday night train, sorry Ro, I disagree with you. While Maher is far too simplistic on most things religious, Affleck shouted down Sam Harris and didn't seem to understand the nuance in the conversation. Nobody is showing enough of the clip while hyping this "brouhaha". If you watch Overtime you can clearly see that it blew over quickly and there weren't any hard feelings about it. That's part of what really frustrates me about watching any of these darned shows, time constraints dictate that just when conversations get interesting, on to the next topic/block/segment they go. Harris' main point, and you can agree or disagree with it, is that the baseline, within the Muslim population there are far more fundamentalists than other religions, and that there are some really bad tenets to Islam. Nicolle got the nuance and actually said some interesting things about Maher's stance regarding Liberals not calling out Islam (and some Muslims) out of fear of being deemed bigoted, (accused of Islamaphobia which is what Affleck immediately did) when they don't miss a beat calling out Christians (and sometimes Jews) for many of the same or equally offensive fundamentalist beliefs, deeds and actions. It's great that they celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, I just wish Ro and Rosie would do something about Mental Illness Awareness week, it won't happen though, but since they won't I don't want to listen to bitching about the strangeness of other celebratory days/weeks/months. I'm sure we'll get buried in Pink at some point in the near future as well, sigh, at least on the breast cancer topic, Ro pointed out that cardiac disease is a much bigger killer, recently.
  15. It could get brutal, but it was never a shouting match like this mess today. Thank you Joe! On a side note, I watch MJ because there is really no alternative to getting so many points of view, as much as I hate Mika's preening and Joe's shouting no other morning show gathers the folks with clout, like this one does. I just wish it were better.
  16. Ifill should have been the replacement for Russert in the first damn place. I'm filled with glee watching MTP crash and burn.
  17. I think that this could very well be what is going on with Nicolle, the predisposition for disdain towards "Liberal Hollywood Elite". I know that she has a lot of detractors and I can't repeat it often enough that I'm a left of lefty leftist, but she doesn't bother me in the way most Republican Pundits do. I don't think she is a "Conservative" either. All that said, she does seem to be enjoying the "celebrities" and often seems a little star-struck about about them. It's only been a couple weeks - but her contribution about the Secret Service and the different levels of vetting before POTUS appearances was very helpful. I found it endearing that she was clearly lost, stated so and posited "I'm just a political nerd". I very much appreciated the discussion about medical marijuana but boy oh boy, there was a lack of facts in that discussion. If we're to pick at it one time, this is a time it should have been. Weed 2 with Sanjay Gupta just aired again this past Sunday - the brothers in Colorado are not considered to be doing anything illegal, they are amazing though because they risked some of the $$ by producing marijuana low in THC and high in Cannabidiol (CBD). This is such an important topic and clearly it has touched Whoopi, so ladies? DO YOUR DAMN RESEARCH, please. Especially if they are going to have the Stanley Brothers on the show, and I really hope that they try to! And yes, what a bi@#!h that woman was for calling the police on her "friend". We have a governor (MN) that has been really reticent about medical marijuana I'm pretty sure because he's had mental illness and dependency issues, so while we're a pretty liberal state a lot of the time, we are really behind the curve on this subject, both from a medical standpoint and the legalizing/decriminalizing aspects. He reminds me of Patrick Kennedy before his "conversion" and all in with pushing for the FDA to get in on this and making it legal federally. (Kennedy is still vehemently against legalizing for recreational use.)
  18. Ratings. Wonder if they'll hold?
  19. Unfortunately, yes, she is a pretty big deal. This. I really wonder what will happen when Maddie hits the growth spurt, some kids fly through it with no effort - it completely takes down others as the transition from Jr dancers to Teen dancers. Kalani really is a pretty exceptional dancer. Though, some kids are just always dancing way ahead of their years, I was shocked that after leaving heavy comp, my daughter ended up one of these kids, but, she also went through puberty really young. It's really hard to tell at this point for certain, she actually has improved. My fear is her education - what if this girl blows out a major joint and can never dance again? These kids, Maddie included actually do get a lot more exposure to other teachers than we are led to believe - they also do the convention circuit and Abby does pull in some pretty good choreographers/master teachers for her summer boot camps. Ouch, that really hurt to type, lol. It seems though that really, Melissa's shortsightedness and Maddie's burning desire, lead to a commercial dance future, not an artistic one. (LA vs NYC dance.)
  20. That's not a surprise either. But for kids like Maddie that seem so singularly focused many dancers are way above average students. Most of my kids's dancing cohorts ended up in top 1-50 institutions, and many of them in esteemed dance programs double majoring or minoring in dance with pursuits in things like Medicine and International Relations. Thanks Lemons!
  21. She gained 6 ozs? And hell yes to the bragging about the child at John Hopkins, oy!
  22. Oh dear lord, say that isn't so, NeNe on fucking Broadway? ::shudders::
