  1. Oh yeah, I meant to comment on that. I even yelled at my TV when no one pronounced in properly! I will be near it for the next couple of days, but as I'm not touring the castle this trip, I won't see it.
  2. To be fair, I think it was a certain subset of Skipper dolls -- not all of them did that, but mine did.
  3. Barbie also had a little sister named Skipper, and when you twisted Skipper's arm a certain way, she grew breasts. (If you twisted her arm the opposite way, the breasts went away.)
  4. I said Nike for FJ, but knew it was wrong. And I was doing so well this week! TS I got include arm, palm, lichen, bristlecone, Visigoths, zombies, and Cider House Rules. I hate John Irving, yet somehow have knowledge of his books. Same with Steinbeck.
  5. Catching up from last night -- I knew the FJ clue would be about Watergate as soon as the category was revealed, since I knew it was the 50th anniversary of the break-in. But as I had only just turned eight, I wasn't really tuned into all the proceedings. Still, my initial guess was Nixon, then I waffled between him, John Dean, Haldeman, Erlichman, and Kissinger, before returning to Nixon and sticking with it. Fun fact: I've actually stayed at the Watergate hotel. It was nice, but not worth the price. I also got the TS of RSPCA, Yellowstone, Boba Fett, and manatee. I might have eventually come up with Pearl Jam, but since I can't understand a word Eddie Vedder sings, I'm not familiar with the lyrics of most of their songs. I think he has a great voice, but I have no idea what he's singing most of the time. Tonight will be the last show I watch real time until July 4 -- I'm headed to Scotland tomorrow! I'll keep up with FJ with the archive, but, if I post scores, it'll only be once a week.
  6. I just got back from seeing it, and I did enjoy it. It was pretty much exactly what I expected. Lots of nice callbacks to the first one — and the scene with Val Kilmer nearly made me cry. I applaud him for returning to the role. I even enjoyed it after it turned into Star Wars, but it took Han, er, Hangman a little longer than I anticipated to show up and save the day. I really could believe Rooster as Goose’s son, too. I think it was the moustache that sold me.
  7. Instaget FJ for me, then I spent about 20 seconds trying to figure out if there was a connection between the two. I'd never heard of one, but she was the only person who made sense. I also got the TS of Death on the Nile, autocorrect, quarter, Public Enemy Number One, and giant. I had to laugh at Michael Caine being identified as Mick Jagger.
  8. I finally got to see the opening. It was kind of a hot mess, and I thought Ariana DeBose looked a lot like Gozer the Gozerian. Still looking for some of the other performances -- I'm sure they're on YouTube, but I haven't had a lot of time to find them yet.
  9. I'm going to have to bail. I'll try to find it online tomorrow.
  10. I adore Billy Crystal, though. He's doing great.
  11. I cannot with Sarah Silverman. Her outfit is atrocious, too.
  12. I almost forgot this was on, and missed the first 30 minutes! I am sad I missed the opening, but I wish I'd missed this horrible gold monstrosity of a dress.
  13. That must be true. I just saw a vacuum cleaner commercial that used Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight."
  14. Why is Lowe's using the "Candyman" song from Willy Wonka in its commercials? And as an instrumental, too. I almost expected a singer with new lyrics -- "The Handyman can, 'cause he fixes it with Lowe's..."
  15. To be fair, Alex had a go-to phrase, "Good for you!" for the interview segment, too. There are a number of things I'll fault Mayim for (mostly the odd pauses), but this one doesn't bother me too much.
  16. I'm about to start a re-read of "Election", and will follow that up with "Tracy Flick Can't Win". It's been too long since I read or saw "Election", and I need to refresh my memory.
  17. I heat slices of cold pizza by putting it on a baking pan in a cold oven, then turning the oven to 350. By the time the oven has reached temperature (or maybe a minute longer), the pizza is perfect. Nice melty cheese, and warm crunchy crust.
  18. Two peeves today! First, my grocery store has two different sizes of carts. Although it does not affect me personally, it really peeves me when people mix the sizes when they return the carts to the cart corral (or whatever that space in the parking lot is called). How hard is it to put the large carts in one row and the smaller carts in another? Second, TV stations that have pop-up ads at the bottom of the screen when there are subtitles on the show I'm watching. It's really hard to read the subtitles through a solid pop-up ad.
  19. Oh, yeah, I absolutely ugly-cried when I saw this in 1982, and it still gets me. I seem to recall, though, that parts were changed from the original? I haven't seen it in ages, but it seems like they softened the government response or something. i don't remember exactly, but I feel like something was different later. Kind of like how they "fixed" Star Wars.
  20. Just because someone's a clone does not mean they will speak with their mother's accent. Maisie was raised by Americans -- she should have an American accent. Unless I missed something somewhere in one of the previous movies, of course. I skipped Fallen Kingdom. This was mostly fun. I went primarily to see our original three -- Sam Neill still is hot. Laura Dern looks fabulous, too, and Jeff Goldblum looks better than he ever has. At the end, we had far too many characters to keep up with, although I really like the pilot. She was awesome. I should have watched the original one before this, I guess, since I didn't catch the connection between Nedry and Dodgson. I did notice the shaving cream can, but the last time I saw that, it was buried under a pile of mud. Dodgson's end was quite fitting. I was happy at least to see that Bryce Dallas Howard was wearing sensible shoes.
  21. I just got back from the new Jurassic Park movie. Shortly after I sat down, this couple with a three-year-old (probably -- I know he wasn't much more than three) sat down in the seats immediately next to me. Now, in this theater, you pick your seats, and I know when I picked mine, there were plenty left that wouldn't have had them jammed next to me. (And even after the movie started, there were plenty of empty seats.) I was able to move over one so there was an empty seat between us. And I'm glad I did! This theater also has little tray tables (and fabulous reclining seats), and the kid was all over the one that was mine until I moved. But really, that movie is nearly 2.5 hours long, plus previews, and it's dark and a little scary/gruesome. Who brings a three-year-old to a movie like that? The kid did not last. He started crying, and they left about an hour into the actual movie. Props to them for leaving, but still.
  22. I do have Global Entry! I got it a couple of years ago (well, four), prior to a trip where my connection in Miami was a little on the short side. It was easy to breeze right through with plenty of time to get to my next gate. And even if you only use it once, I think it is well worth the price. You also get TSA pre-check with it. The only issue I had (and it really wasn't a real issue) was the interview. I don't live very close to any airport where they conduct the interviews, so I did have to drive a ways.
  23. I am THRILLED that the COVID testing requirement for re-entry to the US has been dropped! That was one thing that I was really stressing about regarding my trip to Scotland -- which is this week! It is such a relief knowing I don't have to worry and wonder about what to do if I were to test positive. And I can pack less, too. I will, of course, still be cautious. But man, this is a load off my mind.
