I'm now pretty sure MM will never refer to Tara as "one my best friends.".. or "one of my conservative friends in media". LOL. Between this appearance and her last, I think MM is threatened Tara will take her spot. I don't even understand why MM took such offense to what Tara was saying. Whether it's 5% or 85% of the republican party, there is a demographic of his supporters who are cult-like in that they believe every lie the President says. Those are people Tara was referring to. She's quick to say people like Breitbart aren't part of her republican party, but she takes offense with Tara calling the Trump supporters who likely follow Breitbart a cult. MM made a statement about being extremely pro-life, and therefore happy with the Supreme Court picks. She's willing to accept all of Trump's BS for those picks (this was my interpretation her her screeching). Has she always expressed that view? I only started back watching semi-regularly this year, and I've seen Sunny express her pro-life views based on her religious faith. But I never took MM to be particularly religious, or that pro-life would even be in her top 3 conservative values.

Most if not all celebrities with books on this show have co-writers or ghost writers. They are rarely mentioned.. I don't think DLH is racist in that he doesn't believe other races are inferior/superior or treats people negatively because of race. He's a comedian who does use race as a subject of comedy, which in today's climate can be labeled offensive, even though the point of the joke was to point out injustice. Now I agree 100% regarding his look. The weird hats are pretty much his thing. Re: self-made - The reason why a lot of people have a hard time calling her self-made is that it seems that most of her contribution to her business is her name and marketing. She did not design her cosmetics line from scratch, mixing formulas in her basement. Someone likely came to her with an existing product and she partnered by lending her brand to it. Kind of like George Foreman and the George Foreman grill. It's possible she's involved or a decision maker in day to day operations of her business, but not likely. This is how she differs from other self-made people like Oprah, or Bill Gates. But being the figurehead of a $900 million business is still impressive.

Interesting possibility. Doubt that guests like DL or Michael Eric Dyson would have made the request to exclude her. Both are well versed with arguing far more skilled conservatives than her. Just baffles me why they employ a person that they either don’t trust in certain interview situations or who guests refuse to work with.

Noted that right after the racist video of the man berating the lady wearing a PR shirt, MM made sure they discussed the story about the elderly Mexican man hit by a brick. Whoopi was moving on to a different picture to discuss a new topic, and MM made them go the the story, I’m sure because the perpetrator was presumed to be Black. Horrible story regardless of the race of the perpetrator. MM generally avoids racial discussions but has no problem doing so if the perpetrator is not white. It it also bothers me that they rarely if ever have MM sit on interviews of guests that discuss discrimination based on race or sexual orientation. Like producers are afraid she will offend. They don’t seem to exclude the other cohosts from certain types of interviews. Just her.

I agree everyone appears to be on good behavior, but I think it has a lot to do with the producers. I'm thinking they gave everyone a good talking to about civility. They also stayed clear of the type of topics that get MM going. I specifically noticed, they did not discuss the upcoming SCOTUS pick or the story that fewer than half of the kids under 5 will be rejoined with their families by the court ordered deadline. Both pretty prominent stories right now. MM couldn't help herself though talking over Joy during the discussion about Sunny's harassment this weekend. It went on for a uncomfortable amount of time, until Joy finally gave up trying to make her point. I really feel for Sunny's family. That's something that would have ruined the weekend for me as well.

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta - General Discussion
After7Only replied to David T. Cole's topic in Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta
I hate to admit it, but I think this season really missed the Puerto Rican princess. She knew how to be entertaining with her drama at least. Her beefs felt real-ish. These new girls are drama for drama’s sake. I couldn’t keep straight who had beef with who from episode to episode. Other than Tokyo I don’t need to see any of the newbies from this season. -
People film and post to social media so that people will think twice the next time want to call the cops on people over trivial issues that are not their business. Also, since the lady was calling the police, it was definitely a good idea for her to film for evidence sake. Her losing her job is an unfortunate consequence, but they person who filmed the encounter is not to blame. Yes, I'm pretty sure socialism will be on her and every other repubs talking point blue cards through the fall election cycle.

I was not familiar with Tara before today. Her approach really highlights MM's weaknesses. I agree MM was being condesceding. She actually said something along the lines, of is socialism the direction the democratic party is going? That's when Alexandria replied that there is a difference between democratic socialism vs socialism, and that she doesn't wake up thinking of herself has a democratic socialist. When she asked the question does anyone wake up calling themselves a capitalist? Joy responded Trump does, but I really wished she had called out MM. Because MM's identify is wrapped up in being a Republican. OMG....I so agree. And it's almost always conservatives using the quote Totally distorting her message. Much like too many people distort the message of Dr. King's I have a dream speech. It was really a speech of revolution not of peaceful harmony.

Just catching up with episodes on my DVR. I'm enjoying this season more than the last. I like that they have the 4 sing together at the beginning of the show, gives you more opportunity to hear their talent. My major critique of the first season, is that there was little opportunity to hear the original 4, so there was little investment in them from the audience/viewer. I see Diddy taking on the role of critical judge this go around. The original 4 is stronger this year, and I think the British guy will make it to the end. Hopefully he won't be derailed by a ringer sent in on the next to last episode :).

Her comment about this being this first time she didn't like Melania or was disappointed in her was interesting. Especially since Joy had just pointed out that Melania was a birther. So I guess that version of Melania was not a disappointment to MM?...... When Joy was wondering why people are OK with immigrant kids being separated/kidnapped from their parents over a misdemeanor, I wished someone had said the what people are afraid to say. There is a significant portion of the country that thinks this is what "those people" deserve. And like Melania's jacket, they do not care.

The highlighted OR is the key part of that sentence. She either feels they situations were different OR one was worse than the other. Sunny's response of the situations were different was a complete response to the question. There are no other inferences to be made. I'm not sure if the ladies have used those exact words either. But if Sunny said the Trump administration was anti-immigrant, there's a lot more examples besides the current border/immigration fight. Trump said he didn't want immigrants from s-hole countries. He often talks about immigrants in negative terms using words like rapists and animals without context. No one on the panel has every said he called ALL Mexicans rapists. But the president has often referred to some Mexican immigrants as rapists and animals, but never mentions the fact 99% of the illegal immigrants in this country are not rapists, members or gangs, etc, but hardworking TAX PAYING members of our community. He uses the rapists/animal language to create a fear that is not based in reality. The administration is even actively trying to cut legal immigration at this point. None of this sounds very pro-immigrant

Yes, she had to list all the republicans who have made statements critical of how the immigrant child crisis is being handled. What annoyed me most was she started her rant with something along of the lines of 'so that people don't think that evil republicans are all for this policy' As if anyone on the panel had said or even implied that all republicans were for the current policy or that they are evil. Her language was a dog whistle for her tribe, and reinforces the us vs them mentality that's ruined good political discourse.

During the discussion the guy who won the replican primary for Senate even though he posed in front of a confederate flag and spoke at a white nationalist event, MM said something along the lines of the man doesn’t represent HER Republican Party. I don’t know how he doesn’t, he won the primary in a State with a lot of republicans. That indicates mainstream republicans don’t have a problem with him. He is HER Republican Party.

Michael Eric Dyson was a minister when I first heard of him in the early 90s. I'm sot sure if he still considers himself to be one. But he often goes into the rapid fire flow when making points, although not always. He also often slides hip hop lyrics in his flow which I always find amusing. He did it on the show yesterday, but no one really caught it.

It's not unprecedented. In the 90s Valerie Harper had a family sitcom called "Valerie". There was some issues with the producers/network, and they decided to fire her. But they kept the show going, killed off Valerie, brought in Sandy Duncan as the aunt and renamed the show "The Hogan Family". I wouldn't be surprised if ABC has a change of heart, kill of Rosanne's character and rename the show "The Conners"

Or in MM’s case it was because a girl rejected him. He reportedly killed a girl who had rejected him, but by all accounts that was not his motive. He had a history posting violent and disturbing things and called himself a born killer. I was offended that she over simplified his motive to not being able to deal with rejection.

S43.E21: Tina Fey / Nicki Minaj

Maya Rudolph would have slayed! Was she not available? They seem to be saying goodbye to him all season though with all the “ Kenan has been here forever” jokes. -
A much better LSFYL than I was expecting. Although I wished one of them would have kicked off her shoe and rolled on the floor as Ms. Labelle would often do back in the day.

Agreed there is a difference. But based on the language that Tomi, MM, Trump, and others use on this issue (sh!thole countries, uneducated, etc.) the right does not do a very good job making the distinction either. When in reality , mass immigration to America has always was based on America's need for cheap unskilled labor. Tomi responded to the ladies of View's comments on her ancestry. http://people.com/politics/tomi-lahren-responds-resistance-genealogist-family-immigration-history/ I'm pretty sure that when Tomi's ancestors immigrated here, America pretty much had open borders to European immigrants. There really wasn't such a thing as illegal immigration.

Based on the way Joy looked at her when she made the comment about leaks being given to the Daily Mail, I'd say yes. Love Terrance the actor, but Terrance the man is crazy (or maybe a genius?).

This was the best of the “marriage problems” episodes so far. Unfortunately it’s ma pretty low bar. Diane’s “is this real” scene actually brought a tear to my eye. He took her going back to work without telling him as her making preparations for divorce. It’s a fair assumption. Otherwise she would have brought it up as something she was thinking about doing before the “nesting” separation.

Because Meghan melts down like a toddler and refuses to speak the rest of an episode whenever anyone shuts her down with facts. It's not worth it for Whoopie. I do appreciate hearing from pro-life liberals like Sunny. Although I don't necessarily agree with her, Sunny's arguments were alot better than Amanda basically saying their should be no abortions because of the availability of birth control and Plan B. Abortion rates are down because of those very things. But she are out of touch if she don't realize that not everyone has easy access to a doctor to get birth control and can't afford $50 a pill for Plan B.

S43.E19: Donald Glover / Childish Gambino

Oran Juice Jones and that song is Black pop culture gold. I agree this was all Glover’s doing. -
Donatham and Laurel know they aren't going to any farther in the game playing with anyone else. I think it's smart of them to stick with Dom and Wendell for now. The other group is Navarti strong. No way they get any better than 5-6th, where with Dom and Wendell one of them would mostly likely make final 3. There should be a few opportunities to get rid of one or both of them when the group gets to 5-6. As long as one of them orchestrates a Dom and/or Wendell outster, it gives them a good argument for winning.

The really good 80s rockers had better lead singer voices than Cade though. When Luke said Cade can bring rock music back, it made me scratch my head. He's not that strong a singer, or that charismatic of a person/artist to attract new fans to the genre When Michael's gone, I'm gone from this show. I'm not terribly interested in anyone else. AI is making it quite it quite clear they have no intention of having a winner that will become a successful recording artist. The voting structure and lack of any meaningful critique from judges is just leaving it as a popularity contest. And AI should have learned from the past that the most "popular" AI winner doesn't translate to actual record sales, or an artist that will crossover into the mainstream music scene.
