My hopes were raised last night. Rachel pointed out that CIA is reminding us that it scooped the FBI re Trump associates with Russia connections. And some foreign intelligence agencies (the Brits, the French) are claiming "we were first" as well. None of these entities would be chasing credit if this was a nothing burger.

She started the RB segment with her usual pompous "I'm not up on pop culture" and within a minute he had her ALL hot and bothered. I rolled on the floor laughing when he said "She's a shaft grasper" and "You better lose the ring, Mika, cuz it don't mean nothin' to ya."

So we've been correct about the clothing in complementary colors. You know how some new couples do makeovers on each other? I posted in Nov 2015 that she was starting to grow out her layers and I think she persuaded him to phase out the Grecian Formula, resulting in the lighter tresses on Squinty. Updated 'dos for both! But we knew for sure on pajama night, amirite? Oh, to be a fly on the wall during any conversation between Russell and Dr Z. I'm betting that the Dr wouldn't label Russell as "stunningly superficial."

Dagny said: Oakville said: He looked to his left and someone gave him an affirmation of some kind while he was leaning toward 1968 and then he went with that year. I'm glad that he apologized for the error. I know it was 1956 because of something that happened when I was a little kid. My mom worked in a bank for many years and at one point she was assigned a trainee who became a friend and he would bring his family to our house. His name was Nick Babos. We moved from that house in '59 so I know this was going on in '57-'58. The first time they came over, precocious little shit that I was at 7 or 8 years old, I sat in the hallway and eavesdropped on the adults. OMG. Nick was from a family of bankers and that's why he was in the trainee position, improving his English and learning a new system. He, his wife, their kids and IIRC a gramma fled Budapest with money, jewelry, photos and documents sewn into the linings of their clothing. They carried suitcases until they got to the boonies and then they put on multiple layers of clothing and ditched the suitcases. They medicated their infant so it wouldn't fuss or cry and give them away, not knowing if the dosage was correct until the baby revived much later than they expected. Hours and hours in the dark, muddy fields, barbed wire, hiding near enough to Russian soldiers to hear their voices and their dogs. We are always on our best behavior when we had company but I can remember being extra nice to those kids and that baby.

I think Ben is incredibly annoying. Jeez, stop with the humble bragging!

"My own parents. I know nothing about them." Indeed. The irony is rich.

During some crosstalk, when she kept saying "I don't understand," Barnicle zinged her with "If you flew commercial you'd understand."

Yet again, and this time it was their histrionics following the Rand Paul interview, they bring to mind the court order wherein Judge Stan Strickland recused himself from the Casey Anthony trial: “At its core, defense counsel’s motion accuses the undersigned of being a ‘self-aggrandizing media hound.’ Indeed. The irony is rich.”

I was on a road trip and went through Hildale UT/Colorado City AZ. I always keep my eyes peeled, looking for a good scoop but it's basically a wide spot in the road with unpaved streets after you leave the main highway. The housing always interests me, the HUGE homes (heh heh) sprinkled among the single family homes. Some of the huge places are obviously uninhabited; some look abandoned and rundown after being lived in and with some it's obvious that the construction was never completed and there it sits. So, eyes peeled as usual I don't know how I missed seeing a cop in Colorado City but he definitely saw me and he pulled me over. He was in an unmarked Suburban and he sat behind me for a good 10 minutes while he ran my plates. His vehicle was full of tweens (going by their size) who were bouncing around inside. Then a second officer pulled up behind him and I was like whoa, he already ran my plates and I know I'm clean, WTF? When he finally came to my window I heard "[Traffic noise] I am the Marshal here [traffic noise] do you know why I stopped you?" I said "No, sir, I do not." He said he clocked me at 64 where the speed limit was 50. I said "I am so sorry, I didn't realize that. I thought I was in a 60." (I made the mistake of using the speed info on my GPS but I didn't mention that.) He took my license to his vehicle for a few and then came back and asked for my registration and went back to his vehicle again. I figured well, shit, first moving violation ever but there goes my insurance rating anyway and I'll have to go to senior citizen traffic school. Imagine my surprise and delight when he walked back to me, re-folded my registration in thirds and placed it back in the envelope, and said to watch speed signs more carefully and that he was giving me only a verbal warning! And the kicker is, he looked just like a young Bill Paxton. I mean, it was hard not to stare at him. I did refrain from asking if people mention the resemblance. So, Marshal Paxton, thank you SO MUCH for not ticketing me!

"They think they are the Romanovs, Russia's last royal family." Amen. Thank you for saying it, Chris. -

Mika is wearing my favorite cardigan, the raspberry one, but her arms are not inside the sleeves, it's the "I threw it over my shoulders" thing. She is smug and self-conscious about it at the same time; there is much correcting of posture and checking of monitors.

Mika is wearing my favorite sweater with jeans. The sweater has horizontal ribbing in the bodice and vertical ribbing at the waist; the construction is extremely flattering. Joe looks much better, he is a normal color again. Marcia Brady, it must be said, is definitely a sweater girl.

I thought it was last night so I watched two times after I got the heads-up here but I never did catch that part. :(

Hardball With Chris Matthews - General Discussion

That was delightful, wasn't it? I watched twice tonight just for that segment. -
I picture him sitting on Obama's sun-dappled porch, and they're rocking their chairs and sipping their drinks and cackling.

Can you even imagine those glamour shots? Be still, my heart.

Joe has been so hard to look at this week. It's his makeup or the lighting, or both. He has looked ghastly every day, gray like a corpse, and it's even worse when he's on a split screen with someone who looks alive. I thought it would be noticed and corrected after the first morning, but evidently not. Gah!
