  1. My disdain extends to the grandchildren of celebrities, too. I'm nothing if not consistent!
  2. You weren't the only one. I'm no fan of children in general, to be honest, and the children of wealthy celebrities are certainly no better. I don't have an issue with Cpt. Sandi's perceived micromanagement. Nor do I think it's something that she does for camera time. I think that, as a woman, she's had to endure quite a bit of pushback as a captain. As a result, she wants things to be done perfectly because, if it's not, she knows it'll be chalked up to the idea that women are unable to lead. That's also why Cpt. Lee can get away with the hands off approach.
  3. The best part of these flashback episodes? 1. Getting to see the old opening sequence which, back in the day, many of us hated. But compared to the odd screensaver-esque opening credits we get nowadays, it's amazing. 2. Seeing old sets, like Carly's old house. I *hated* that set. The yellow color palette + black/white checkered foyer floor was...oof. Also, it's frightening how much ten years can age a person. Compared to his appearance at this year's Emmys, MB looked like a baby. Also also, I forgot how much I enjoyed JMB's Lulu. The character hasn't worked for me since Emme Rylan took over the role in 2013.
  4. I understand the hyper-awareness around blackface being used in any type of media nowadays (and rightfully so!), but this move from Hulu seems to be missing the point of the BLM movement. There are larger, more systemic issues that need addressing. A joke about blackface from an episode of a 30+ year old sitcom seems like small potatoes. Not to mention the fact that the episode dealt with an interracial + May/December relationship in a pretty progressive way, especially for the 1980s. Why remove the episode from the lineup when it would have been just as effective to edit the scene entirely?
  5. It also airs on one of the MTV channels on PlutoTV from time to time. I binged it one afternoon a couple of weeks ago for the umpteenth time in my life. Agreed with those saying that Julie was far from a drama queen. In fact, I don't know if any of them would deserve that moniker. Perhaps Kevin, as he certainly caused the most drama in the house, but his points were always valid and coming from a place of frustration rather than simply stirring shit for the fun of it. I recently started following Heather B. on Instagram. I loathe social media, but it's definitely great for keeping tabs on old reality show favorites!
  6. Watched the first episode with my partner today. It was innocuous enough and something I'll check out again. I also have to concur with the folks saying that this scratches the Legends of the Hidden Temple / Shop Til' You Drop / Supermarket Sweep itch! I've missed gameshows like those recently. And while I love all the props and rooting for folks to make it to the end, I also find it super fun to root for some folks to fall to their doom. Most notably during the first episode, I was absolutely chuffed to see the triplet brothers fall into the lava one after the other. Same for the sister from the mother/son/daughter team that had the personality of a cardboard cutout OF a cardboard cutout.
  7. Did anyone watch the latest series? I’m currently bingeing it and oddly obsessed despite knowing only a handful of the “celebrities.” Kate Garroway might be my favorite in the jungle, followed closely by Jacqueline and Adele. I think I’m currently up to episode 9 or so, when the group had to compete in Love Island themed challenges. One of the challenges involved four celebs passing pig testicles between them, using only their mouths. And I couldn’t help but think that, in a post-Covid world, I doubt we’ll be seeing things like that again for a long while.
  8. Okay, so, the deepest comment about this episode that I can muster is this: B.D. Wong turns 60 (!!!) this year and is still an absolute snack. It was hard for me to buy him as Nora's dad considering he looked more like her older brother.
  9. When Terry came out of the woods with blood all over his mouth and coat, I looked at my partner and asked if this was an IT prequel. I thought it was fairly obvious that the grieving mother died from that scene in the hospital. In the previous scene, we saw her grab her shoulder, then her chest, and then fall to the ground. When the doctor came out to deliver news and the son broke down, I figured it must have been a massive heart attack. What wasn't obvious to me was that Terry was giving the finger in that security cam footage from the train station. They zoomed in as though we could make anything out, but it was grainy as a bowl of rice. Considering this is Stephen King, there's no way that this doesn't veer into supernatural territory, whether we like it or not.
  10. Was there a reason we needed to see everyone's drink order at the Hampton's restaurant? And Dolores' order of honey chicken wings. Jen's obsession with Jackie's checkbook was... odd and, unsurprisingly for Jen, tacky.
  11. Show: Shiloh is bad because he collects the secrets of DoD members to use as leverage! Cut to the preview of tomorrow's episode showing Jason and Sonny discussing them using Margaux's pledge as leverage against her. Okay.
  12. There's no denying that the drama has been ratcheted down to less-than-zero since Lisa and Kyle had their falling out. That said, I've still been entertained. I enjoyed seeing Hawaii, Camille's house and her wedding. I also loved Mauricio's interactions with everyone at dinner while he was high as a kite. I agree with everyone that took issue with Lisa arranging the lie detector. Although I get what she was after, it just comes off as extremely petty. She didn't do herself any favors by taking it so, in the end, it was just a waste of money. No doubt Sessa was just thrilled to get another couple minutes of airtime, though. Denise continues to be a lame edition to the cast. If your biggest storyline is running lines with Patrick Muldoon and filming a Hallmark holiday movie, you're going to end up on the one-and-done pile of former housewives. She seems like a perfectly sweet woman but, oof.
  13. I have to echo the sentiments that the producers need to put a moratorium on the Queens doing reality show stars as their Snatch Game celebrities. It's just so much less interesting when half of the panel are "celebs" from VH1 reality shows that I've never heard of before. That said, it's a testament to Nina's comedic abilities that I laughed at her Jo Anne Worley impression despite the fact that I have have 0 clue who Jo Anne Worley even is. Also, while I understand some folks are sick of Vanjie being read week after week for the leotard/onesie runway looks, Vanjie did it to herself. When packing for the show, it didn't strike her that she was reusing the same silhouette for all her looks? And now that she's there and stuck with whatever she packed, at least, like, slap a damn skirt on some of these onesies to appease Michelle. Honestly, I really enjoyed last week's look (despite the fact that the headpiece was literally just a strand of rope glued to what looked to be cardboard...) because it was something *different*.
  14. Ahh, I thought the exact same thing! Although I could not for the life of me remember in the moment whose look specifically that Plastique's reminded of, you're absolutely right that it was Brooke Lynn's Pisces runway.
  15. As soon as Brooke Lynn and Yvie were announced to be in the bottom, I called that it would be a non-elimination week. Of course, it helped that the two of them turned out that lip sync. Vanjie should have done Cookie Monster for Snatch Game. C'mon, gorl.
  16. Team IBBN did an amazing job and I was pretty impressed with Nina's ability to keep the show moving. I also really enjoyed Vanjie's performance, although it's starting to become a little one note for me. Gimme some more range, Vanjie! I was surprised that Honey went home as early as the third episode, but can't say I was super disappointed.
  17. As a native Long Islander and someone that has driven to the Hamptons several times in his life, some of Ramona's statements are misleading. While I understand that the road is referred to as "Montauk Highway," it's a 2-lane road traveling east/west. Eastern Long Island (from the Hamptons to Montauk) is a popular summertime destination for sure, so you're absolutely right that there's heavy traffic from Memorial Day through Labor Day (with spurts on the weekends following Tumble Weed Tuesday). It's definitely not "jam packed" by any stretch of the imagination in winter, however. It also doesn't smell (at least not any more than any other 2-lane road smells). And although I've never been inside the house itself (as I said in my previous post, I'm decidedly middle class and would likely be escorted away from the property for simply looking at it too hard), I imagine that it's well insulated to account for its proximity to the road and the sound that the traffic generates during particularly busy times of the year. tl;dr It's really not a "bad location" by any stretch of the imagination unless you're Ramona and need to look down your nose at someone else as wealthy or (probably in this case) wealthier than you.
  18. Did anyone catch Barbara saying something about having power of attorney during Lu's manic episode? I'd be interested to know when Lu signed that document, as well as over what exactly Barbara had power to make decisions. If it was prior to Lu's break from reality (which I assume it was), that'd mean that Lu knew she was headed in a bad direction and couldn't be trusted to make rational decisions. Also, can we talk about how ridiculous rich people's problems are? One thing I have to say about growing up decidedly middle class, I've never encountered a situation in which the solution to the problem was to sue my own mother. Of course, I can't even imagine stepping foot on the lawn of Bethenny's rental property let alone inheriting a beautiful home like Lu's in Sag Harbor, so what do I know? I mean, that's fair, but I have to admit that Tyler Perry would not be the first person I'd think of regarding deep and meaningful quotes. That's not to discount the hardships he's endured, obviously, but I would likely guffaw if someone I'm in an argument with started dropping Tyler Perry quotes.
  19. Jax's refusal to make a mojito reminded me of a time that my boyfriend and I ended up in a small diner on the side of the road in Virginia. The place was obviously a little worn down, but the locals seemed to like it and we were starving. We looked at the menu for a bit and the waitress came over to take our order. My boyfriend went first and asked for a hamburger and a chocolate milkshake. The waitress looked him dead in the eye and said, "Honey, I don't have the patience to make you a milkshake right now. How about a soda?" My boyfriend and I are very accommodating people (see: doormats) so he just ordered the soda, but we still talk about the audacity of that waitress to this day. Jax, apparently, has some big balls as well. Especially to make that comment knowing full well that he's being recorded by a television crew. I know LVP tolerates a lot of things from this group of 30-year old children, but refusing to make someone a drink because you don't feel like muddling the ingredients? That's beyond the pale.
  20. I was honestly more impressed by the Black Panther ladies. None of them screwed up as badly as "upulence!" or Kahana flailing around. And Vanjie's gravelly voice is amusing coming from a drag queen, but I didn't think her performance made much sense for the character. So, I think we kind of agree. My criteria in determining whether a team was successful in an acting challenge is, basically, if it made me laugh (whether for the right or wrong reasons). Obviously, Ru and her panel are using a different criteria to assess a team's success. A great example of that would be S6's acting challenge, Drag Race Me to Hell. There, Team Milk was objectively better than Team Adore. That said, I don't remember much from Team Milk's reel while my boyfriend and I *still* reference lines and moments from Team Adore's. Particularly Gia Gunn's stilted recitation of "Gag me with a Delorean!" line, Adore's wig slipping (several times) as she was electrocuted, and the 10 second silence/close up on Vivacious as she visibly struggled to remember her "Your mother scrubs docks in Hell!" line. To be fair, I think a lot of the hilarity came from the editors and the way they cut the available footage together for the final reel, but still. It was memorable! Long story short, I agree that the Black Panther ladies were objectively better at delivering their lines and selling their specific story. However, I thought the Get Out parody was funnier (albeit for all the wrong reasons). And in the grand scheme of things, I don't watch RPDR because I want to see seasoned actors honing their craft. I'm strictly here for the messiness and fun.
  21. Vanjie channeling Cookie Monster during the skit was everything. I was cackling on my couch the entire time. Similarly, Mercedes’ inability to pronounce “opulence” was also cracking my shit up. The Black Panther girls couldn’t hold a candle to the Get Out ladies. Silky didn’t bug as much this episode as she did during the premiere, but I wonder if that was more the editing and less her actually being less insufferable. I wasn’t sure about Yvie’s runway look at the outset, but I came to really like it. She basically married the Tin Man and Cowardly Lion into one look. She’s slowly becoming my one to watch. I also really adored the chemistry she had with Scarlet during the maxi challenge.
  22. I'm no fan of Katie's, to be sure, but she was absolutely right to complain about James' comments regarding her weight/appearance. James has been given chance after chance by Lisa, Tom, Lala, Raquel, etc. and, each time, he's proven himself to be an even bigger asshole than previously believed. In the real world, James' ass would have been out on the street and his boss wouldn't have thought about it twice. My boyfriend and I are very much pro-Ariana. She's intelligent, fairly well-spoken and seemingly more self-aware than a majority of the rest of the cast. I love that she's not interested in having children and is confident enough to voice that. I also love that she appears to love Sandoval but that her entire being doesn't revolve around him. Is Scheana still even on this show? She showed up to Kristen's "relationship workshop" but was barely seen.
  23. And that one that was used was going to be used no matter what due to the rules. And then it failed anyway. Is this a new record for BB? I can't recall that last time this many "twists" flopped in a single season.
  24. Does Tyler have a final 2 with literally every HG? I have to imagine that that's going to come out sooner than later, especially once L6 start targeting one another. As for Brett flipping on L6 and going with JC, Haleigh and the returnee, I suspect that he realizes that JC will drop that like a hot potato the second a member of L6 wins HOH. That said, I'd love to see Brett become a roadblock for the rest of L6 because the slow and tedious trek to Final 3 for Angela, KC and Tyler is going to be miserable to watch. (As an aside, I was going to say that Brett probably trusts JC as far as he can throw him, but that phrase doesn't exactly work with JC since I'm sure most of the HGs could chuck him pretty damn far.)
  25. Unsurprising that LC and Kristin are out, though I wish LC would stop acting as though she's above it all. And is it really going to feel like The Hills without either of them? I, too, am surprised that Whitney has agreed to return. She posted on her Instagram something like, "hopefully they let me out of the fashion closet this time!" While she was never my favorite cast member, I do appreciate that she's able to maintain a sense of humor about everything. Color me perplexed that Frankie Delgado was invited back. Who's next? Audrina's coworker and sometimes confidant from the record label? An extra from the Les Deux days? Enzo?!
