    The Outer Worlds

They've announced that there's no crafting in the game, because it didn't make sense in a story about people being slave to late capitalism. Sweet music to my crafting-hating ears.
  2. I think what makes it work so well is just how good the performances from Brad Dourif and Louis Turenne are. While I think a lot of B5 was overwritten, a lot of it wasn't, and I do often think a lot of the guest cast doesn't quite rise to it. But there are marvelous exceptions, and this was certainly one of them. For all their religious beliefs being so central to their cultural identity, Minbari beliefs don't make a whole lot of sense, at least to me. The way that Lennier describes it to Brother Edward just doesn't quite jibe with some of the other things that they set up about it over the years.
  3. But we've seen magic-like things before. The Orbs on DS9, for one.
  4. I can believe that, and they could have covered it quickly, but it doesn't really explain why there weren't any Rangers ready to go when they had to begin to move more openly. OTOH, "Passing Through Gethsemane" is easily the show's best one-off episodes, and probably one of the best period.
  5. And sadly, they're real. I interviewed for residency at a hospital that had a floor that was just for orthopedic surgery VIPs. I actually don't think it's Ava. They're just telegraphing it too much.
  6. I really enjoyed the episode. First, it's been a treat to see Reno every time, and an added bonus to see her acting as relationship counselor to Paul and Hugh. Also, the scene of everyone sitting around the mess hall laughing and joking was great. I wonder if the Time Crystal caused a predestination paradox for Pike. Now that he knows what the future is, it's unavoidable. But if he hadn't gone to Boreth, maybe it would be? I don't know, I hate temporal mechanics. I found the scene where Pike told L'Rell and Ash about their son rather moving. The scene where L'Rell told Ash that she knew Voq was gone and that he loved Michael was good too.
  7. The way Brie Larson gets why this is a big deal, and despite her reservations at taking the part initially, seems to really love Carol, just gets to me somehow.
  8. Seeing Eddie's ex-wife again, I'm reminded how much I prefer my headcanon where Buck is Christopher's other daddy.
  9. Decided to go to the first showing on Saturday morning. I figure it gives us less time to consume liquids. I just need to put a reminder on my calendar not to have any coffee that morning. There were only two seats left together that weren't in the front row.
  10. I was actually counting the shots looking for a continuity error. Nope, he fired six times. I've never been a huge fan of JLH, but she really knocked out of the park. And I teared up a little when Buck was running towards Maddie.
  11. But to anyone who isn't a fanboy, Carol Danvers = Captain Marvel and Billy Batson = Shazam. Literally no one who isn't looking for a reason to be angry cares.
  12. I thought the goalposts had moved to "Well, people only went to see it because they need to know what's going on for Endgame."
  13. "Matters of Honor." Spotted a giant, gaping plot hole. Marcus come to the station because he needs help to get the other Rangers off the planet. Fine, but then he turns around and says that they specifically need Sheridan. But, why? I mean, I understand from a storytelling perspective, they need to bring the Rangers into the story and to introduce the White Star, but in-universe, there's no reason that I can think of that the other Rangers couldn't have done it themselves. I don't think they even attempted to handwave it in the dialog.
  14. I'm already not a fan (I mean, I think I like Bekker more than Natalie, which is REALLY saying something), but having the new dude constantly around is even crueler than she normally is. In terms of stretching the credulity of actual medicine, this may be the show's absolute nadir.
  15. Nor do I, but I am interested in being able to play graphically intensive games on my less-than-top-of-the-line computer. Or, indeed, on my MacBook.
  16. But it's not just for online gaming. It's also for being able to play games that a person's hardware can't run. In their demo, they had Assassin's Creed running on a Chromebook.
  17. Well, SMG and Sonja Sohn acted the hell out of that. Michelle Yeoh, too.
  18. If that’s who she’s playing, this will almost become my favorite MCU film by default.
  19. Half Tomb Raider, half Mean Girls. I love that Michael Peña and Eva Longoria are her parents.

    X-Men Franchise

Just bury it and salt the earth.
  21. Off the top of my head, they've done Demolition Man, Judge Dredd, and Face/Off.
  22. Tim popped up in the New 52 Justice League Dark (one of the few New 52 titles I liked). It was pretty well done.
  23. Time crystals are real. Obviously, they don't do what they do in Star Trek, but they do exist.
  24. That remix of Baba O'Riley is outstanding.
  25. A trailer at last. I like it, I think?
