  1. Regarding asking the finalists or ANYONE why they should win, who should go home etc. - I wish someone would say something that meant - "It's not my job to decide who should go home." And what on earth makes anyone think a contestant could be objective about why s/he should win. "I should win because I worked my ass off and poured my heart and soul into this work" is pretty much what any artist or writer or performer etc. feels and believes. What the heck is the point of that question?
  2. I liked Sean's collection the least. I liked Sini's the next least (although I like him the MOST!). I think Amanda was the clear winner. But I guess I knew Sean was going to win. And Nina? Just. Hate.
  3. I remember when Michael's clothes were called hoochie. I think it was unfair then and I think it unfair now. I cringe every time Heidi in particular uses that term since she's all about everything being "sexy." Not all women - not even all RICH women - want to wear clothes that are sexy. Nina, on the other hand, has what I can only call an "uptight" sensibility. Certainly in all these seasons we've had questionable taste levels - and of course that's also subjective, as is what can and cannot be bought off the rack. Anya's clothes - I think all of them every time - were clothes I could have bought in any upscale "for women who travel to warm climates" store. All that is just to say aesthetics are subjective. And as for being off the rack, I've seen lots of Michael Kors stuff in Filene's basement. So - Char's clothes don't look "hoochie" (I guess I'm glad we/they are not using the word "slutty".) to me. I don't know about the collection as a whole but I thought two of her pieces were downright beautiful. I liked some pieces in all four collections although Sean least of all. (Clearly, he and I have different aesthetics, although his fashion aesthetic is based on far more training and experience than mine.) I liked about half the pieces in each of the other collections, maybe six in Amanda's. But Char's was the collection I liked the best. Admittedly, I'm not sure about it being tied together as both Amanda's and Sini's certainly were. I did like it the best though.
  4. Can we petition to get a better actress to play Danny's Mom and also (especially) Renee and even Ellie. They're all MEH and if they were GREAT it would make for a far better show. OH. And girlfriend of Mark too. Come on. There are a zillion great actresses out there.
  5. You can say that A MILLION TIMES again. He is just - - Arggh. I can't think of a word - he's that horrible. SOMEONE AT NBC - PLEASE GET ADAM OFF MY TELEVISION! ICAM. ALmost no one with amazing chops who already knows how to use them would audition for this or any other show. (I said - almost - ) I think the judges are looking for potential - not for omg the greatest singer I've ever heard. Potential. The greatest singer you've ever heard is not going to be on this show. But I've heard some singers her e- not the the greatest singers I've ever heard - who I'd like to hear a lot more.
  6. I have to admit, I didn't much like Cig's make-up this week. At all. I liked Drew's - but, somehow, I don't like DREW so much. Don't know why. I'm relieved that George made it through, although I would have understood had he not. And I'll admit that I am pretty fond of Sasha. She's clueless. Which isn't a great quality in a 22 year old but the judges can send her home - and I do understand why they saved her. She seems to be more talented than she realizes and I believe the reason she can't follow through is that she has no idea where her talent lies and how to capitalize on it.
  7. I really thought I could not dislike Adam Levine anymore than I did coming into tonight. But WRONG. He makes me crazy. It's gotten to the point where I can't even stand to listen to him talk. He's utterly FAKE and not even in the neighborhood of charming. THAT is the sexiest man alive??? My favorite moment was when Gwen reminded a contestant that over the years Blake has said the same thing to everybody. Fantastic!
  8. I think Krista is stunningly beautiful. I could look at photos of her all day long. And Nicole (the red-haired Nicole) too.
  9. Regarding what the matter was with "Under the Gunn" - Anya was a mentor, for one thing. Anya can only make one thing so how is she a mentor?
  10. This, so much. Last week, Kini got killed because of one thing only - the top didn't fit. This week - sorry but Sean's top DID NOT FIT his model. Her boobs were sticking out the sides all over the place. The dress was BORING and even after it spun around (not DURING its spinning, AFTER its spinning) it looked drab and - still - ill-fitting on the top. What the fuck?
  11. I adored the entire six episodes, but I do agree with whoever above said no way the sisters would agree to little Ryan coming home by himself. And what an incredible cast.
  12. Me too! And I read it at a Starbucks. Fun to laugh loudly with dozens of other folks around.
  13. America's "favorite" dancer doesn't equal "best" dancer on the show. I imagine this is the way it will always be if the general public has such a big part in the decision-making. I'm not complaining. It is what it is. On the other hand, what's the alternative? If it were up to NIGEL, there wouldn't have had to have been a show - we could have had the top 20 and he could have declared Jessica the winner. Easy peasy. As for what we've got - and this is the opinion of a person who knows nothing whatsoever about dance - oh, except this one thing - which is that my husband's best friend is an award-winning professional tap dancer who has a dance company in Minneapolis. He's a stellar dancer. So that weighs a bit on my thinking (having seen a LOT of tap performances - I'm kind of old) that Valerie is in fact a very good tap dancer. I prefer Zack's tap dancing - I prefer him in general. But I love watching Valerie dance. The only finalist I don't love watching is Jessica. I think she's a quite good dancer too - but I think there's an element when watching any kind of performing artist - a mysterious kind of "I don't know why, just doesn't appeal to me." I feel that way (I am likely the only person in the country) about Johnny Depp for example. Just. Don't. Like. Watching. Him. It's a little bit like the chemistry between people on a first date - it's there or it's not there. For me, it's not there with Jessica. I much preferred watching Jacque and wish I was going to watch her again next week. Tonight was the first night Casey did anything for me at all - I'm glad we've got the guys we've got.
  14. Seriously. Pretentious + Ignorant. A combination that makes me want to throw my television out the window.
  15. What is all this Teddy love??? I don't get it at all. I didn't even like him in his own style and tonight. Just - uggh. And to keep him and let Stanley go? Double UGGH. Those "here's something you don't already know about my dance partner" sequences are beyond lame. They're forced, mostly awkward, always boring. And after all these years, Cat still seems completely fake to me. Which I'll take over Nigel's pretentiousness. But she's so clearly "acting" to my mind. I don't get her at all.
  16. Seems to me that one of the reasons Andi was blown away when Nick told her he loved her is that he told her WHY he loved her. So awesome. Nothing better than that - even now after 21 years of marriage. It just rocks for someone to say here are all the things I love about you. I don't think I've ever heard that on this show before - except for the "you're beautiful" part.
  17. I actually thought the woman who plays the Mayor was/is excellent. She has a natural delivery that I like quite a lot. And I like the character a lot.
  18. The hypocrisy of what the show is pretending to be doing and what it did here - changing the rules all of a sudden to benefit a particular person, for whatever the reason - is definitely reason enough for me to give up on it. I'm not going to even watch the finale. I'll read the outcome somewhere and hope for the best (Josh). Really disgusted. Oh and also? Adam's big baby snark at Usher. NO ONE is THAT sexy.
  19. I'm sick of him TALKING. Man, I can only imagine what the negative impact on his personality being named sexiest man of the year was. As though he weren't already unbearable. Uggh!
  20. Among the myriad things I detest about Adam, the worst is how he constantly makes his feedback to the singers about HIM. Oh, man, you keep reminding me of how dumb I was to let you go. Wow, I pushed my button for you and that makes me wish - . What a self-absorbed douche. I really REALLY can't stand him.
  21. I think Kristen just has a flat out beautiful voice. For excitement, I prefer sex. For music-listening, I prefer gorgeous voices. Yeah, I love good lyrics too (I'm a playwright) but a beautiful voice is the thing that makes me swoon. So - Kristen. Is. It.
  22. I'm THRILLED that Kristen made it through. I was impressed by Delvin's enthusiasm for Kat's save. (Although if I tweeted [oy!], I'd have done so for Audra.) Totally rooting for Kristen, then Josh, then no one.
  23. Hello, former TWOP-ers! I'm so grateful for this website! All I REALLY want to say is I LOVE KRISTEN. I sooo want Kristen to stay in the competition. She is a far far better singer than Jake, than Audra, than Sisandra, then Delvin. I'm so anxious about tonight's results. Of course, a therapist would ask - "And why are you so invested in the outcome of a singing competition in which you are not personally involved?" Good question, imaginary therapist.
