  1. No. The guy who played James (Cyrus' husband) won an Emmy as "Best Guest Actor". I love that actor (although I ca't remember his name). He's going to have another series in the upcoming season.
  2. Oversinging in Hell indeed. I'm a relatively forgiving listener, but last night I was flabbergasted at how little I liked pretty much everyone. Several performances bored me starting with Mary's right off the top. And Owen's. Eeek. And I love folk music - I came of age in the 60s. Adam too. So boring. Nice voice though and at least he wasn't singing about angels or sisters or whatever. Emily was - I don't know what - she sounded like a musical instrument as opposed to a singer, demonstrating that she could (or could not) correctly reproduce a note. Hannah was frustrating for me. She sings beautifully quirkily - she does not need to oversing. From what I can tell through the reedy shrieking, neither does Allison. Use the hell of an instrument you are lucky to have had bestowed on you. And Shaylah is always oversinging I think - but I do like her passion and genuine emotion. (THAT I find unusual in a girl her age.) Paxton was cute in his way but I've heard him full out sing, so why doesn't he do that? Nick, to be honest, I actually liked last week but this week, I listened with my mouth gaping open. That may have been the worst performance I've seen on this show. I like Daniel's voice but I've not liked any of his performances. So. Leith. Just like him a lot all the time, although I was a bit underwhelmed tonight. I would buy an album of his so I supposed it wouldn't kill me to download one of his songs. Tonight notwithstanding, he and Owen and Hannah are my favorites. At this point, the judges are my least favorites. In conclusion: Shout out to VIAJERO and PHD PURGATORY 15 - loved your posts, such well-articulated takes - they didn't agree with each other (or with me) particularly but I really enjoyed reading them and am inspired by them to go back and re-listen to a few things. Thanks, fellow posters. Bryan? Bafflingly - very nearly flat out bad. Nerves?
  3. I know folks say this stuff a LOT, but if Braiden is in the final four I will absolutely stop watching this show. And I mean forever.
  4. I think what Mellie did was EXACTLY in character. When was she not tough? When she lost her son. Otherwise, she has been tough, tenacious, smart and sadly - in love with the wrong man. I was not a teeny tiny bit surprised that she went there and I thought it quite brilliant when she talked about being a Republican (which, I have to say, many women who are Republicans support Planned Parenthood - it's Fitz who does not behave most of the time as any Republican I've ever known - could we have show sometime that depicted a Republican who was a GOOD president? But I digress.) and then noted how that guy getting in her face pissed her off so much that she - went for it. I think that was right in character. OK. It's true. I LOVE HER. How about - "She didn't want to have a child for a whole bunch of complex reasons."??? Isn't that what choice means? Does choice mean - please explain your choice to me before I decide I'm okay with it?
  5. I actually felt that way about Ivonne, who I loved!
  6. Yup. One of the sexiest men I've ever heard/seen but don't know in real life.
  7. To me that investigator guy seems sleezy and fake and arrogant. Ugggh. Don't like that character at all. Sexual attraction? Just no. He seems to be attempting to do an imitation of Sam Elliott and - seriously - that can't be done.
  8. I can't stand to listen to him OR to look at him. I'm disgusted that he will have been voted through by viewers. Ugggh. I LOVED Yvonne and Reilly. I liked them the best among all 24 singers. I also liked Jeffrey and Jordan quite a bit. I still like Evan a lot but I hope he sings better if he continues - that wasn't a great performance. I disliked Emily Ann's performance - although I don't like that song at all so I'm not sure anyone could have made it work for me. Much as I think he's a sweetie pie and has a good voice, I hope Braiden does not move on. But I also hope Viktor does not move on. Didn't like Zach as much as everyone else did either but I much prefer him to either Emily Ann or Barrett. The teams I WISH I could see are: Adam: Jordan and two of Blaine, Amy, Shelby (I'm not crazy about any of these three but I like each of them fine) Gwen: Ellie, Jeffrey and - no one, I guess. I'd rather see Korin than either Viktor or Braiden. Pharrell: Riley, Evan and Made or Darius Blake: Ivonne, Zach and anyone except Barrett
  9. I fast-forwarded through 90% of the show tonight. Mellie didn't tell Fitz about how her son died - because??? Mellie. There's nothing else worth freaking watching on this show.
  10. Me too. A lot. Her flower's great with me too.
  11. Liked Ashley's outfit a lot. Guess it's just me, but there it is. And I didn't miss the S. guy at all. In fact, I was delighted by his absence.
  12. Especially ESPECIALLY Scott. Yup.
  13. I can't help but be really pissed that Ben made the finals. Yes, his final character was great - but Scott and Jordan were way way WAY more consistent through the competition and it is totally unfair that the judges' favoritism kept Ben in the competition after he should have been gone. I don't even think I can watch the finale because I will be so disheartened with the show if Ben wins.
  14. I'm so there with you. I couldn't stand to LOOK at him. He was so fake, so phony, so so so - just. Not.
  15. Someone was allowed back on Face Off and won the entire season. Of course, Face Off is quite a different show in that it is "no drama". I love watching a show where everyone's primary concern is the contestants' ability to do what they signed up for.
  16. While I think Ben is an extremely good artist, I'm pretty unhappy about this outcome. This is the second time Ben's work has been the worst but he has not gone home. This is just unfair on the face of it. You want to save someone once because of his body of work - okay. Twice? Not so much. I'm pretty pissed.
  17. Thanks for posting this. I have been disgusted with the disparaging way the judges talk about women older than 25 since the show started. What's wrong with "That is stylish (or beautiful or whatever) but I don't think it would appeal to younger women." Why disparage women because they are doing what all women will do eventually - aging. And all this talk about aunts and grandmas. My mom was a grandma she was still in her 30s and two of my sisters were aunts when they were teenagers. And don't get me started on Heidi calling breasts "boobies" - egads - she sounds like a ten year old boy.
  18. Adam and Blake's schtick grows more nauseating by the millisecond. Do this show's producers really think anyone is entertained by that? GAK. I nearly turned off the show.
  19. Sigh! I keep thinking I'll recover, but so far - nope.
  20. I spent most of the time the show was on thinking, "Man, Heidi just gets more narcissistic and meaner every week. Oh. And skinnier." And, "Pretty soon there will be no scenes in the workroom. All the scenes will be about hair and make-up." That product placement stuff is just eating this show up."
  21. ITA that Ashley tried a couple times to talk about let's find a concept before we start fucking around with the material. She did STOP trying, but it seemed as clear to me as seemed to to her that no one was going to listen to her. And I'm just pissed that it didn't come out that those women RUINED their jumpsuit fabric and that's why they had to resort to all that purple. It was obvious to me - because Ashley as much as said it - that - as people up-thread have said - she believed that she had been accepted as part of the group, and was terribly upset (and felt stupid) to have been proved wrong. Of course she would have been better off if she'd been able to let it go and concentrate on her work - but it's also understandable that sometimes a person simply can't do what's best for her. Been there lots of times.
  22. She actually said her family called her and said, "Are you okay?" I'm sorry. But what she did on national TV was decide she wanted to have sex with someone. Same as Ben F (without mentioning it) did and same as lots and lots of people did. If someone were to write my daughter an email that said I hope you die, I wouldn't care if she slept with EVERY SINGLE ONE of the bachelor contestants - that is just plain NOT OKAY. Since when do women who decide to have sex with someone on or off TV and whether they declare that was a mistake or not, deserve DEATH THREATS. Good God. That. Is. Crazy. THAT is crazy. Kaitlyn is not crazy. THAT is crazy.
  23. I know for absolutely sure - even though I believe I'm an open-hearted, smart woman - that I could be edited on TV in an extremely negative way. I have no doubt. So - I stand by - given editing etc. - I don't know her motivations, I don't know what part of what happened was driven by her and what part was driven by producers. Cyber-bullying is terrible. There is absolutely no excuse for it. Just because lots and lots of people do it, doesn't make it right. Lots of people do lots of things. That's not at all an ethical standard.
