  1. She was so nonchalant about one of the puppies dying, too. Oh, I wanted to smack her through my television.
  2. Thanks everyone. We're going to a burlesque show tonight, which should definitely help lift my spirits!
  3. I don't like board jumping, but other than that I didn't have a problem with any of them yesterday. I loved the new categories and didn't mine the Swedish one. I think I got four of those right.
  4. As promised, here's an update on what's been going on in the time I've been away from this forum. I apologize in advance for the length of it, but there's been a lot of stuff. So much stuff. My niece and two nephews were removed from their home for suspicion of physical abuse by my brother-in-law and failure to protect by my sister. My niece was returned to the home a few days later, but my 13 year old and six year old nephews remain out of the home. The older one has too many medical and behavioral issues for me to handle, since I work and go to grad school. We have a relative willing to take him in, but the relative is in California, so he's in a group home until CA and AZ can get their acts together and move him. I did take in my six year old nephew, who is still living with me. I don't have kids of my own, not because I'm gay but because I didn't want to have children. I wish more people who didn't think they'd be good parents would choose not to have kids, but that's a different discussion for a different time. I moved my parents into my house in December after my dad had a stroke. So I've gone from living in this nice-sized house with just myself and my dog to sharing it with my parents and my nephew and my dog. That's not a complaint; I'm blessed to be able to help them, and I get along well with all of them. But it's definitely a change! The drama that could have me on JJ is that my foster kid's birth parents were ordered to help with his financial support and refuse to do so. The state of Arizona is generously providing me a whopping $30 a month to support this child, who is in the custody of the state since they're the ones who removed him. You read that correctly. They think I can support a six year old on $30 a month. As JJ likes to say, you can't feed a dog for that, much less a child. So the savings I'd responsibly worked to accumulate are being depleted while I support a child I didn't get the pleasure of making. I changed careers this year and went into teaching. I love my new profession, but I took a huge pay cut. I wasn't anticipating supporting a child when I made that decision. And here's a newsflash most JJ litigants don't know: kids are expensive! That's partly why I chose not to have any! My sister and her hubby make four times what I do, but have sent me just $40 in the three months I've had their son. I've been dealing with the DCS case manager and begging her to do something to make them help with more support, but so far I've only been met with incompetence. It's a frustrating process. One more thing, I have a new girlfriend. She's been amazing and came to me shortly after my nephew did. She works in social services for an agency that places foster kids in loving homes, so she has been a true godsend. Needless to say, I've been busy. I have missed you guys and am glad to see the snark level hasn't changed a bit. I hope to be able to visit a little more but if I'm not, I am sure you can understand why! Take care, everybody.
  5. Aw, thanks. My life got insane for a while. I will post an update in small talk. Let's just say I could easily be on JJ myself for the stuff I'm going through with my family. The cases had my blood pressure rising. I can't even with the dog case. The defendant was an irresponsible asshole for sure, but what was up with the plaintiff? I have no doubt she harangued that dude as soon as she realized he was a hustla who isn't going to be supporting himself, much less her. They should both rot in hell. The desperate cruise lady had me smh as well. If dude isn't working and can't pay you up front, then he clearly can't afford to go on a freaking cruise. Wtf is wrong with people today? They want, want, want things NOW regardless of their ability to afford them. I wouldn't have awarded that dumb plaintiff a cent, though. No payment for stupidity. Thrn we had the trio of sisters who admit they really need therapy but it doesn't come with a free trip to LA, so they went on JJ instead. Initially I thought JJ was insensitive, but they kept droning on and on about shit a tv court can't help them with. If you don't have a will, make a will. There are few things sadder than descendants fighting over scraps because you couldn't be arsed to put your wishes in writing.
  6. They named the movie, and you had to name what sport it was about. I loved that category!
  7. I missed two of the Hat answers and FJ. Based on what some of you are saying, I'm not even Teen Tournament material! I did run the sports category, so maybe I'm just Sports Jeopardy material.
  8. So what you're all saying is that my attempts to catch up on JJ this weekend may end up curing my insomnia? Awesome. I can't wait.
  9. Like many of you, I'm thrilled that Matt is gone. I thought he might be ruining Jeopardy episodes for me for at least a week. Hopefully, I'll forget the former 1-year-old-encyclopedia-reading-child-of-a-PhD guy rather quickly. I liked Bonnie a lot. Knowing what happens to contestants I like, I'm not optimistic about her sticking around long. But I'm rooting for her just because she beat Matt.
  10. I do this periodically. But I've missed you guys, so I need to start watching again so I know what the hell you're talking about! Actually, this board would be fun regardless of watching the episodes. As others have noted, I'd never watch this show live. Our students are out for summer, but I'm at my school doing some admin. Someone put People's Court on in the staff lounge, and I had to turn it off. The court shows not only have too many commercials, but they're always for scummy lawyers!
  11. It doesn't bother me either, but I do appreciate subtlety, which this game doesn't have. Nevertheless, I enjoy it and will continue watching. I'm just glad to have some classic gameshows back.
  12. I'm on a hi and bye with my neighbors too. My home is my respite from all the bullshit I deal with on a daily, so making close friends with my neighbors isn't something I want to do, lest we have an argument about something that could lead to it being awkward.
  13. First of all, hey fuckerbitches! Long time no speak. I haven't been watching JJ, but I'll be marathoning the new eps sitting on my dvr today and tomorrow. The fence case is why I logged on today. What the ever loving fuck is wrong with people? Neighbors do stuff that may be annoying, but it astounds me how much they overreact to little things. I don't have a problem with the plaintiff suing, but harassing the neighbor over something so trivial is beyond my comprehension. Are any of you ID Channel watchers? There's a show called Fear Thy Neighbor which depicts neighbor confrontations that turned deadly. It always starts over something stupid that most of us wouldn't even bat an eye at. Some people just need to live Ted Kazinsky style in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. ETA: I didn't think wedding video was that bad. Also, based on what I've heard from friends, most people never watch them again. Like the neighbor thing, it's a case of people without real problems who need to create a federal case when something doesn't go the at they expected it to.
  14. I got Pony Express right away but also spent the rest of the think music doubting myself. I didn't know it was only around for that short an amount of time. I do learn something new every day.
  15. Beowulf was one of my least-favorite reads in school. I can read almost anything, but I freaking hated Beowulf! I got Helter Skelter immediately and my mother pointed out to me that the Beatles didn't sing Helter Skelter. I then spent the rest of the think music arguing with her. (I still haven't found out who the hell she thought sang it!)
  16. I majored in English and read it, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of my classmates did the Cliff's Notes version instead. I got FJ right away, but I wasn't that surprised that none of them got it, considering how many TS's there were during the game. I didn't have a problem with Liz, but I do like the new champ. I'd have been fine with any of them winning.
  17. Agreed that it was a good one. I'm rewatching now, which is a sign of a strong episode for me.
  18. I can't believe Buzzy is at nine games. Again, I don't have a problem with him, but he doesn't seem that dominating. A few times I've looked up and been surprised to see him far in the lead.
  19. I was surprised two of them missed FJ. I thought it was obvious and had it before Alex stopped reading the clue.
  20. This is how I feel about him, too. He doesn't bother me, but I don't think he's a great player. He hasn't had to get an FJ correct for a while, and I don't know if that's because he doesn't know the answers or because he does but would rather be cute with his responses since he isn't wagering anything. He is far from my favorite, but I was so freaking happy Victor didn't win last night. Now that's a contestant I didn't like.
  21. They were ridiculously crooked, so much so that I couldn't listen to anything she was saying; I was mesmerized by the placement of those eyebrows!
  22. I never understand people who say someone refused to move out. Are they flammable? Then you can get them out. How do you just let someone refuse to leave your home? At the least, call the police and have them put his sorry ass out. He wasn't paying rent, right?
  23. I think it's so sad that they seemed to resent his moving on. It had been three years. I guess they thought he should just build a shrine to her and live out his years alone. They hadn't even bothered to meet the new woman. If my father or mother passed on, I would be thrilled if the remaining parent found someone else to love. When they were going on and on about their mother's house and their mother's bed, I wished JM would point out that their mother is dead, and those things are no longer hers. i can't imagine just barging into a house as if I owned the place, especially if there's a new wife or fiancé there. And a 50'ish woman should buy her own fucking car. I found it outrageous that she kept the insurance money. It may have been legal, but it was immoral and rude. I suspect his ungrateful children will need him before he needs them. He's better off without them, in my opinion.
  24. It looks like she had a few top ten hits, but I didn't recognize her nor was I into her music. I assumed they were number 1's but what do I know? You're right though, not big enough for that diva card. On second thought, I don't think anyone is important enough to be able to treat service staff like shit.
