  1. His splettnet.net blog had me in stitches today. I sent him an e-mail; we'll see if he responds.
  2. That was the funniest part of the case. There's nothing that insults a so-called celeb more than being told nobody knows who the hell they are. I once had a customer at a bar I worked at who was a big-time singer at the time. We're talking multiple number 1 singles. The problem was, I didn't care for the type of music she sang. When she pulled the do-you-know-who-I-am card, I could say with all honesty that I did not. She'd have been better off not telling me, because I shared the story of how horrible she acted with everyone I knew.
  3. A thousand times this. It perfectly summed up why I despise so much modern music. I I'd buy the hell out of a Dead Bopz album, just for the hilarity.
  4. So she did say "discrepinations." We were trying to figure out what she said then trying to figure out what she meant. Good grief.
  5. I didn't think it was any easier than any of the other games in the tournament, and it was not the easiest Jeopardy game I've watched. I missed many of the same answers they did. Maybe this game was just better suited to your knowledge base? Jeopardy can make me feel like a genius one day and an idiot the next. I do think the Teachers Tournament is often easier than the regular shows, but I think that's because a lot of teachers do qualify for regular Jeopardy.
  6. I was hoping one of you sleuths would! Don't feel that way. They chose to go on a national show and air all of their lunacy. As far as I'm concerned, they're fair game. I didn't catch the last name, so I couldn't do any of my own investigating. What did you find out?
  7. Was that Jenny from the Jeffersons in the flashback scene? The one in the Chanel outfit?
  8. For me it's more about oversight than pride. I often forget I have a gift card to somewhere until right after I've shopped or eaten there. I think Amazon ones are the only ones I ever use right away because I can just download the amount into my account. I only give gift cards if I know someone really likes a particular store or restaurant. My mom loves See's candy, so I get her See's gift cards because she likes to pick out her own chocolates instead of getting am assortment.
  9. That's what I love about the show; I learn so much I didn't know! I had a similar thought about FJ and went with Venus because nothing else made sense to me. But I didn't know Venus had surface features.
  10. TBT, I loved both of these litigants, even the one who was wrong. It was a joy to hear them speak. Yes, the defendant is a terrible sound engineer, but he spoke well, too, and seemed to have evidence he thought would support his case. Isn't it sad that it happens so infrequently we all comment on it when it does? Based on the behavior I see on court shows, I think the new normal is to be inarticulate, grammatically challenged, and sue for the max regardless of damages. It's also apparently normal to have tattoos all over one's chest and/or neck. Who knew that by not getting any tattoos I was being a rebel? :-)
  11. What a sad case that was. They were beyond controlling. Who the hell sues their child over a freaking cat?* The kids would all be better off staying away from both of those nutjobs. They're the kind of parents I imagine Ted and Heidi Cruz would be. Does it scare anyone else that it's only the fundies who seem to be doing the whole fruitful and multiply thing? We're either going to have an overabundance of religious nuts or an overabundance of kids who've severed all ties with their parents. For the sake of the kids, and this country, I hope it's the latter and not the former. *Of course, it wasn't about the cat; they were appalled that their daughter was having sex. They should be; we all know they weren't teaching her anything about protection!
  12. I didn't understand how the injury occurred either. I wished JM had dug into the defendant's claim that the plaintiff had already sued everyone else and lost. I know it shouldn't affect her ability to sue him, but I wanted to hear more about her other suits. I felt for the defendant because it doesn't sound like he knew what was going on at his property. Yes, he still has liability, but I would have advised him to sue his tenant for the loss. And, I agree; HMOs suck. They're fine for routine visits and such but for anything major it's a hassle. I worked for one years ago and their procedure was ta automatically deny the first claim. I guess the theory was that many people would give up and not fight. I had to get out of that place quickly!
  13. That was a funny moment. I thought it was a good game, but there were some easy TS's that I can't now remember. I got half of FJ and couldn't for the life of me remember the Missouri. This is one of the tournaments I really like.
  14. Agreed. I lived in Allentown, PA, for several years and wanted to know where Chris taught. I love that he was a firefighter first and has now had the same profession as both of his parents. I kept waiting for the video of his students and was disappointed they didn't show one. I don't think it's fair to say that those who can't, teach. Some of the best regular Jeopardy contestants we have had were teachers. There are a few careers that are well represented on the show, and teaching is one of them. However, as someone who transitioned to teaching from the business world, I'm a bit biased.
  15. I had a student ask me for help with a book report she had to do. She wasn't my student, but we've bonded, so she asked for my assistance. I asked her what she had to read, and she said, "The Gift of the Maggie." Once I finally got myself to stop laughing and told her it was Magi, not Maggie, I asked her what she thought about when she read it, and she told me she hadn't read it. She was trying to write a book report on something she hadn't read. I told her to read it (it's only a few pages long, for crying out loud) and I'd help her once she'd read it. Our students work independently, so it's not like she was missing a deadline. To my knowledge, she still hasn't read it. It's not just the kids. I had a parent complain to me because we had the audacity to call him when his snowflake didn't come to school. He said since he already knows she isn't in school it makes no sense for us to call him. I tried explaining to him we call because often the parents don't know the kid ditched school, but he was too dense to understand me. We have kids who come just enough for their parent(s) or guardians to continue receiving welfare. They wasn't to know how many days in a row their student can miss before they get dropped. Their kids do no work when they're there, but they have to attend to qualify for aid. It is unfair to the many students we have who are there to learn. The system is completely broken.
  16. I couldn't figure out how you wouldn't feel that tool poking into your head. Such a freaking scam artist. And then to never complain and just file a lawsuit? Yeah, that's not suspicious at all. Modeling my ass. I've never considered modeling and I have hundreds of pictures of myself. I don't even like getting my picture taken and still manage to be in tons of pictures. She doesn't have a Facebook wall? I wish MM had laid into her a lot more. I freaking hate scammers, especially when they target small business owners.
  17. The episode reminded me that I haven't used any of my Christmas gift cards, so I guess that was a good thing. I had a few from Target, one from Starbucks, and one from Amazon. I still haven't used them, but at least I'm thinking about them now. I guess I'm part of the problem!
  18. I agree. I don't know if the family specifically wielded their wealth and power to influence the investigation, but that other pathologist wouldn't have even been involved if the family weren't prominent. I hate that there are two different justice systems: one for the haves and one for the have-nots. I don't know whether or not he killed her, I'm leaning toward not. But it doesn't matter. The doubt makes it a not guilty verdict. Also, I think the mother did the victim no favors with her in-home "rehab." She had an addiction that needed to be dealt with by professionals. Her mom deeming her clean is ridiculous. Yes, she had no drugs in her system, but that Facetime video shows she was still abusing something. I think she had more than three cocktails when that video was shot.
  19. That was my point; sorry if I didn't make that clear. I never intend to offend anyone.
  20. I made the same mistake. I got FJ on a guess. I was surprised it was right. I'm looking forward to the teachers, since I'm now one of them. However, the last couple of Teacher Tournaments were underwhelming and another one gave us Colby.
  21. Finish in the red on Jeopardy. Not know an obvious puzzle on Wheel of Fortune. Give a dumb answer on Family Feud. Act a fool on Survivor. Stuff like that.
  22. I consign your entire post. We loved The Cosby Show even though it was far from our own reality. We were just happy to see another successful black couple on tv since The Jeffersons had been gone for a while. I'll go one further. Whenever a black person is on a game show I hope to God they don't look stupid or do anything embarrassing. They don't have to win, but they need to make a good showing!
  23. He must have over-thought FJ. I though it was way too obvious, but we've had a few of those lately, so I went with Dracula. It's one of those that makes me wonder if I must be wrong because it's so obvious. My guide said the Teacher's Tournament was airing this week. Was there any explanation given about it? Or was my guide just incorrect?
  24. She's by far my favorite of the three. i feel like DiMango is always trying to insist litigants are in live with each other or have ulterior motives. Bakman is okay sometimes but he also can be condescending to the other judges. I like Acker a lot.
