  1. Okay, I just watched the episode. I'm so far behind. I couldn't watch the scene with the elephants. Knowing the history of how they capture and contain them so that assholes like these reality stars can get camera time was just too much. I won't get on my soapbox too much, but fuck you, Bravo. Anyhoo, I loved Shannon and Vicki in the kayak. Two drunk middle aged women in oversized life jackets being stupid and owning it? Love. This is why no matter how awful Vicki can be, she makes great television. Which brings me to... Tamra, is awful without the fun. I just can't remember a time that I found her likable. Tolerable? Sure, but never likable or entertaining. So, I'm okay with Lizzie losing it. I have been around some pretty awful people, but Tamra is in a league all her own. I think we are seeing the two newbies (Shannon and Lizzie), trying to deal with someone who is a master of deflection. Lizzie's comments to her husband were nasty. She is one angry drunk. However, after watching RHONY Aviva's father sexually assault one cast member and threaten necrophilia on another, nothing shocks me. So, definitely not the worst I've heard out of all the franchises. Not even close.
  2. Exactly. I had to watch it again, but Potente was peaking over the stairway with a machete dripping blood on Lyle's hat. He gave her a smile. I have no idea what the cell phone call meant. So, yup. Not confusing at all in a WTFBBQ kinda way.
  3. Poor Xander. He just stood there and took it. Cordelia pushed him to the breaking point. He had to slut shame her. Never mind that he's the good guy. Right? And, every time Buffy tried to tell "poor Xander" she wasn't interested, "poor Xander" still made it about himself. Please, the first two seasons were all about how the nice guy never gets the girl. Except, speaking as a girl, he wasn't a nice guy. At all.
  4. My point was that in the Xander thread, Wah? This is what I'm talking about. Boy bad, but other boys more bad. Is this the Xander thread? Just checking
  5. I thought the cold opening was explained. It was pretty obvious to me that the realtor who was showing the new home was the courier who fucked up. The only thing that bothered me was that the person holding the machete was Potente, and the only reason I know that is because I had to re-watch the beginning. I shouldn't have to watch the show again to connect the dots.
  6. Ya know, it's weird. This is the Xander thread, yet when he is criticized, the other characters are compared to him. None of the other male characters on Buffy are portrayed as the emo "good guy". Xander? Meh? He has faults but he's a good guy. The hyena attempted rape? He was possessed, and besides he told Giles, so it's not that bad. Gosh, his conscience should be clear. Xander was the most judgmental character on the show. The entire time he was with Cordelia he consistently resorted to slut shaming and insulted her intelligence. He did the same to Anya. Guys like Xander are very common. I just wish the writers understood that he was an asshole. Too bad Xander and Harmony never hooked up. That would be a great spin-off
  7. Exactly. But, wouldn't that also apply to Spike and Angel? Yet, the writers went out of their way to paint Xander as the heart of the Scooby gang. Spike and Angel felt guilt. Xander? Not so much. He continued to whine about the fact that Buffy wasn't interested in him. In the next episode. After, he, ya know, tried to rape her.
  8. So, because he couldn't have raped her, he shouldn't feel guilt? As long as the girl can overpower her rapist, then no big whoop? That's my point. Xander didn't seem to feel any guilt over what he did. This isn't about Buffy strength, it is about Xander's attitude. He remembered the attempted rape, hid it from her, yet he continued to pursue her. He never considered that she might, maybe, find him a bit icky after that?
  9. Like I said, writing fail. But, at least they showed Spike remorseful and the group turned on him. Xander? No biggie, and it was never discussed again. Xander went back to being the "nice guy". He just struck me as one of those guys who whines because, he's such a nice guy and girls don't like nice guys. Boo-hoo. Maybe, just maybe, you aren't as nice as you think you are. But, of course, it's the women's fault, not any type of failing with the guy.
  10. Kat Way. I so agree with you. Xander was a self involved douche in the early seasons. Any time Buffy turned him down, it was all about his feelings. If Buffy was going off to fight and didn't need his help, it was all about Xander's manhood. Xander almost always managed to make any situation about himself. I just recently rewatched season 1. "The Pack" episode pissed me off and really reinforced my Xander hate. When Xander was a hyena, he tried to rape Buffy. Now, I get it, he was possessed, so not really Xander. However, at the end, rather than show remorse, he pretends that he did not remember it. That is not a nice guy. Even when he admits to remembering, he still does not look all that upset. It was about protecting himself, not about what he put Buffy through. Of course, the writing also made it look like it was no biggie to Buffy, either. So, writing fail.
  11. Exactly. I'm all for letting your freak flag fly, if that's your thing. Sonja is constantly drunk, catty, and behaves erratically. This isn't about a double standard. I don't think people would see a man behaving the way Sonja has and think, "Wow, what a stud." They would think he has some problems. For me, it's not about her having sex. Get you some, girl. It's her destructive behavior, both with herself and others.
  12. Fozzybear, I would agree with you, but Sonja seems to have forgiven Aviva, who went at her HARD last season. Was the catty backdoor comment worse than the things Aviva said? If anything, Sonja seems to be kissing up to Aviva, who said horrible things about her last season. She seems to be zeroing in on Carole and, to some extent, Luann. I mean, WTF did Luann do to Sonja? It feels like we are missing something. Portae, maybe it really is that simple.
  13. I'm not sure that Sonja would be mad at Carole regarding the implied "backdoor" comments. Why would it bother her? She's pretty open about her sex life. But, I agree, Sonja does seem to have it out for Carole. She pretty much took Aviva's side during bookgate, and now she wants it out there that she slept with Russ (supposedly. I don't buy it), while he was still with Carole. She also seems to be gunning for Luann a bit, and I don't get it. Even when Luann and Ramona were at each others throats, Sonja remained neutral. Either, a)Something happened between seasons to piss off Sonja, b) Sonja is just trying to cause drama for a story line, or c) she's fucking nuts. I'm thinking c, personally.
  14. That's how I viewed the movie. It wasn't about all women being catty bitches, it was about women in upper class New York society, and the culture of that time. And, speaking as someone who works in a field made up of about 90% women, I can absolutely say that women, as a gender, are not backbiting bitches. Are some women assholes? Sure. Just like some men can be assholes. It's not gender specific.
  15. I'm in Texas. You haven't lived until you've seen someone's bare foot sticking out the side window on a hot day. We don't need convertibles down here!
  16. I think this, more than anything, is why I am still raging. The show is implying that George is just a dirty old man, so just shrug it off. So, he grabbed your ass, your boob, or stuck is gross boner against you. It's not assault, silly goose. You women are overreacting. Fuck that. It is sexual assault. There is no iffiness about it. Making lewd jokes and belittling women as nothing more than sexual objects makes someone a sexist asshole, but once that person crosses the line to grabbing a woman in a sexual manner without her permission, it becomes a crime. Andy and other people on twitter calling his behavior "hilarious" comes across as tone deaf and ignorant. I would venture to say that most women have had contact with someone like George. I guarantee at the time, they did not find it "hilarious".
