I was about to post this on the Sandra thread, but it seems to fit better here. I don't care who decided to do it, screw everyone who ate that goat. And screw production for allowing it to happen. I didn't used to think the chickens were animal cruelty, but after a post on a different thread of how they're tossed around before they're butchered, and ruminating on if there's a difference between chicken versus goat, I'm tired of the live animals part of this "game". I might be done with this show. I haven't liked the novelty idols and twists for a while. This might be the last straw. ETA: I just took it off my DVR. I'll get an additional hour to my week.

I don't think this is a factor at all anymore. It's all about "The Evolution of Strategy" and all that nonsense. (When Zeke did that shout-out in his first season, I thought my eyes were going to roll out of my head and across the floor.) I'm really sick of the novelties and the show trying to stay clever. I miss the grit and determination, as opposed to cheap sneakiness.

No, from the photo from the recent Instagram where she's holding the coffee (unless that's the same costume?). It's almost the look I was expecting from Bree in season 4, sans men's coat.
-
I'm really intrigued by Claire's sailing costume. It does seem practical, with ocean winds whipping around. Makes me reevaluate what she might wear, come the Ridge in season 4.

I can't stop watching the fake rifle hit on the right side of the shot. I don't know who those two extras are, but now, whenever I see that scene, I'll think of them. Having those shots on top of each other makes me think of younger Jamie as his baby Bree is born. Sigh. I hope we get to see that shot of Jamie holding baby Willie. He didn't get to hold baby Faith either. :(

Wow. JT should not have returned. Any esteem I ever had for him is gone. A swap? Exile Island? A returning player? In one episode? Really, show? I'm so sick of the novelties. It all becomes meaningless. I want Michaela to take it to the house.
-
Screw you, JT. I really wanted Sandra to go tonight. Both tribes could have agreed on that, and it would have been entertaining. The more I see of Tai, the less I like him. I feel like this show is getting away from itself. In order to be trendy with the superfans, the novel twists are getting in the way of strategic play. Hey refs, just let 'em play.

I love Duncan Lacroix's Murtagh, but I really want Murtagh to die and stay dead (as harsh as that sounds). I really want the Culloden stakes to say harsh. I'm kind of tired of so many shows having cheap stakes, where things don't matter and have ultimate repercussions. War is hell. People die. Clans are destroyed. This is reality. Yes, this is a TV show and book series. But Culloden really happened. And I look what's happening in our world - USA unrest, Brexit, Syria, Russia, North Korea, Philippines... We need to learn from our past. Actions have repercussions. War is hell. People die. "Clans" are destroyed. This is reality. Kill Murtagh.

S08.E16: I Was Feeling Epic
Dust Bunny replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
I haven't watched this show in 2 years, but I had to watch the finale. That's one of the most satisfying series finales I've ever seen. And my face may or may not be streaked in tears. This show was far from perfect. There were lots of stupid McGuffins and plots pulled out of thin air. But this show shined in the relationships, especially family and friends. The finale captured that perfectly. Nicely done.- 242 replies

Regarding the phone call, I thought Kate was going to have Jack pick her up early, so she could stay at home, and then Jack was going to get in an accident on the way to pick her up.

I wish I had as much time on my hands as those people. Beyond that it's creepy, as you said, I'm guessing this is not a restful show to produce. If you want the whole series brought to screen, why would you want to do anything that might burn out the actors or crew? But if this year has taught me anything, it's never underestimate the lengths people will go to act (and vote) against their own interests.

Wow, that was horrible dialogue. I'm not even talking about the Junkyard Gang and the lack of complete sentences. The writing across the board sucked. Gabriel's words to Rick were just bizarre. Yes, it made sense, but who talks to people like that?

September?! Damn. I was preparing for June as well. But September?! Aren't the Emmys usually in September? If so, wouldn't they miss being eligible for that? (A quick Google tells me yes, and that Stephen Colbert will be hosting. That's cool, at least.) Maybe, because seasons 3 and 4 were renewed together, the Droughtlander between those seasons won't be as long as this one. And/or maybe this allows a long break for the cast, to avoid their burnout. I would like to see as much of the series on screen as possible, so a little delayed gratification is OK. I'll play my own game of which happens first: the start of Outlander Season 3 or the end of the Trump Administration. Either way, I win. :)

The Books vs. The Show: Comparisons, Speculation, and Snark
Dust Bunny replied to Athena's topic in Outlander
Agreed. The first time I read Drums of Autumn and Fiery Cross, especially FC, I felt it dragged the whole series down. ABOSAA, however, absolutely turned it around for me. Not only did I approach Echo and MOBY with more openness, it helped me better appreciate DoA and FC. I'm now listening to DoA via Audible, and I really enjoy it. I think ABOSAA depicted the relationships so strongly that it gave me new eyes for not just the later books, but also the earlier ones. -

I just finished Voyager on audiobook on Tuesday (it's amazing how fast the books go, with my new 2 hour daily commute). Willoughby came off much better than the 3 times I read it. I'm not sure why. Maybe the change of voice gave a better sense of him having his own identity, as opposed to being defined by Jamie or Claire. Minor aside, I'm going to Hamilton in May, and I've been obsessively listening to the soundtrack for months. When I got to Voyager's chapter of the hurricane, I had to google, as soon as I got home, to see if that was Hamilton's hurricane. Alas, Hamilton's was in 1772, and Voyager's hurricane was 1767. I'm in no rush (I'm enjoying the ride), but I hope we get to the Revolutionary material. TURN: Washington's Spies is an under-rated show. It'll be fun to see Jamie, Claire, and Co. interact with American history.

I trust that the writers will handle Willoughby well, but I always felt it was an unnecessary plot. It reminds me of that writing exercise in school when someone starts a story by writing a paragraph and then passing it to the next student to write the next paragraph and so on. You read the story, and often something random will have happened that doesn't make sense. The later students had to either go with it and weave that into the story or just ignore it and try to keep the story on track. So I hope Willoughby will be a truly fleshed out character, and not a plot point to be used.

Finally. Droughtlander has officially hit me. I've been waiting for photos for weeks. Outlander was my distraction during breast cancer treatment in 2015. Now I need it to be my distraction in America 2017. "The West Wing" 2.0. I think they have to age them slowly. It's a long book series; you don't want to do too much too soon. Sam's smile at Cait has me so excited for reunited joy, post-print shop. Gotta get the joy where we can find it, these days. I'll be an easy viewer to please for awhile.

I must have Voyager on the brain, because I saw this and immediately thought of a certain scene. Actually, it could remind an Outlander series reader of quite a few scenes. http://ktla.com/2017/01/16/giant-alligator-strolls-past-tourists-without-a-care-in-the-world/

Didn't we have Jemmy's POV a couple times, Marsali is one of my favorite characters. It'll be great to hear things from her point of view.

S33.E13: I'm Going For A Million Bucks / S33.E14: Reunion
Dust Bunny replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Survivor
I used to work at a lung cancer nonprofit. It's true: nonsmoking women are getting lung cancer at an alarming rate, and we don't know why. It's also one of the most deadly types of cancer, since it's usually misdiagnosed for a long time. I'm so happy for Adam and his family, and I hope tonight's attention and money will push research forward. What a fantastic season. Great competitors, wonderful sportsmanship, and a worthy winner. -
Or, maybe Sam was doing research in a break between blocks (not sure where they are in filming right now). I would guess he'd want to know what the actual location is like, regardless of where they film. That was my first guess when I saw the photo.

I like her on a personal level. She, like me, is a breast cancer survivor. I found out via Twitter that we actually have the same oncology office in Minnesota. So I'm a big fan. :)

I want to know how they story-boarded this season. And I want to know where it would have gone, if last week had been different. Butters' 180 got right to the heart of how fucked up things are right now. The member berries are brilliant this season. If only the UK had called sooner. For a second, I was thinking of the Towelie episode. "Yeah, I want to get high."
