  1. Calvin Johnson was 6'5 and they put him with Lindsey, so it seems like fair game for almost anyone.
  2. I just hope this doesn't mean BC. I've seen him pitch that in interviews before, and while I like them as a couple, I really don't want to have that ruined by them being on the show together. (No real life couples please)
  3. Classic ballroom: American Dryheave (Smooth) You don't see it much outside the competition circuit.
  4. What?? You're not excited for more of this choreographic genius?
  5. This is sort of a project? But anyone who wants to book a dance lesson with Emma & Sasha can do so now on Airbnb https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/103155
  6. He was in a minor boy band before Glee, and did boy band dancing, if you wanna go deep. He'd be a fun one, I think.
  7. I don't have any opinion on Nikki Bella. Drew Scott is sort of an endearing robot trying his very hardest to impersonate a human, so it could be great or it could be really, really awkward.
  8. Kelsea is at least "pal around at events" friends with Derek, I've seen them pictured together. (I think she did one of the Disney World special things he was involved in?) I've never heard of Savannah. Sasha has been fueling the Gina Rodriguez rumors on twitter, though he's almost 100% trolling. One, because of all the reasons upthread she's unlikely to be doing it (filming her show) and two because if they were paired I doubt he'd be sending her suspicious tweets for fans to over analyze.
  9. Sounds like he's planning on it, from this interview. At about 4:35 in response to a question about whether he'd choreograph more on this season of SYTYCD he says, "I've got a whole stressful season coming up" (presumably, S25 of DWTS)
  10. Maybe! I don't know anything about her schedule. Out of those 5 I think she's the least likely anyway - she's headlining a current show, she doesn't need it. As most likely, I'd be inclined to guess Lindsey (if she's not on tour,) Dove, or a person off that list I haven't thought of.
  11. Things getting speculate-y for next season: Derek says he knows someone who's confirmed, and he "thinks she'll be great." Anyone got guesses? Prime suspects of Derek-associated friends seem to be: Lindsey Sterling (Danced with Derek in one of her recent videos) Gina Rodriguez (Has been rumored before, had Derek on an episode of Jane the Virgin) Nina Dobrev (Actress, Bestie of Julianne) Arielle Vandenberg? (Social media star in the vein of Hayes from a few seasons back, sometimes actress, friend of Houghs) Dove Cameron (Disney/ABC associated, co-star in Hairspray)
  12. What does being on good terms with Mark have to do with how friendly she is with Maks? Val and Peta also posted about Mark's album release.
  13. As far as I understand he's the main choreographer and "brains" of the operation- the other Lions are dancers he's put together. Kristyn Burtt did a long interview with him a few weeks back, he comes off a little cocky in a "early 20s dude" sort of way but ultimately like a nice kid who's thoughtful about what he does.
  14. Public rounds would be un-possible, they finished filming this whole thing months ago.
  15. I've been liking the Young Lions, they've got a nice, relaxed groove that sits back in the pocket of the beat, and it's refreshing in this context when the impulse could be to be really in your face, because it's a BATTLE. I felt like Dev from Master of None watching the Jabbawokeez, I don't quite get it. Besides that one cannon move I found them pretty boring. (But thanks for blessing the stage.)
  16. ? Alek (and his two friends) has been tapped to star in a Clint Eastwood movie about themselves http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-mn-clint-eastwood-film-20170712-story.html
  17. Emmy noms are out. Derek in for his featured performance (the tap dance/drumming one) and Mandy for a few of her openers (the Griffiths Park one and the Christmas finale) And then a bunch of technical ones (costumes, makeup, lighting) No Tom this year.
  18. I think it's probably a cross between coworkers and, like, summer camp friends. You're together so much, for such an intense period of time, that these really intense relationships can form. But those may or may not last once camp is over, and you get back to your real life. I'm not surprised a lot of them fade, but I definitely see how it can bond you for the long term as well. It is always kinda nice when the friendships stick around. (I'm a little surprised Alfonso didn't turn up at all of the weddings somehow, bending space and time, whether anyone wanted him there or not ;P )
  19. I don't think so. She was posting ig stories from home all night. One of the magazines posted some videos from a fan account "witneycarson1" who was reposting other people's videos, which probably lead to the confusion.
  20. Julianne is like, besties, with Aaron Paul's wife. They turn up all the time at her backyard pool parties which I have seen a bunch of since I followed her on Instagram. I really don't think the double booked day mattered all that much to each group, they don't seem to have a lot of overlapping friends. (If it were say Val and Derek, it would be a different story, especially if both were to marry the people they are currently dating.) Of everyone invited maaaaybe Sasha and Emma would have been invited to both (they were at Julianne's). A ton of people didn't go to either.
  21. Bethany Mota got some blowback for being on her 6th grade dance team for like, a semester. The kind that meet a few times a week and do terrible hip hop at middle school assemblies. Bindi got called a ringer for bouncing around a bit in those awkward Jungle Girl dances that her zoo puts on. Ginger Zee for being on a Pom squad at some point in her youth. ETA: The common denominator there was usually people who hate Derek, or people who hate Val. And the people defending the first two were accusing the last one, and vice versa, with little to no self awareness. (If you've already decided on your conclusion, you'll find whatever evidence you need to support it, and its ridiculous both ways. But people will go to what seems like any lengths to accuse others of being ringers especially if they seem them as a threat to their faves. The argument is never gonna go away.)
  22. Witney posted a rehearsal clip of the number. Hard to tell from the snippet shown but it looks like it might be good. It's a more interesting song than the "sexy lady girl power" type ones they usually use for female pro dances. Doesn't look like another "Ain't your mama." (No Heather in the clip, but she's tagged in the caption.)
  23. Simone and Sasha are dancing something too. Since this is just a big variety show wrapped up in the skin of a competition show, what you actually place doesn't matter so much (everyone gets a freestyle!)
  24. It's almost a guarantee that the likable* not-great dancer will get third at this point, so I've been fully expecting David to end up there. Looking at the last few seasons on the Wikipedia page, you've got in 3rd place: Calvin, Ginger, Alek, Noah, Janel, Candace, Jack Osborn. The only one who doesn't fit the category really is Janel, who had some natural talent even if she always went center-of-balance-akimbo on spins. And you could make the case for Calvin being more of a Rashad than a David, I suppose, but still, it's a trend. *I realize likable is subjective, but that is how they were promoted, whether or not you agree.
