The thing I enjoyed the most about the episode was Kira talking to Sisko because it was so touching and showed how far their relationship had come in the last 4 years. However, yes, science goes out the window big time and also how the Jem'Hadar first cruiser was that stupid to think that the Defiant wouldn't know they were next to them was their own fault. Sure they did some major damage to the Defiant, but they walked right into that attack. For a race willing to commit suicide runs to destroy enemy ships they walked into Sisko and Kira's traps too easily.

Everyone made good points, one of the biggest problems with Eve's plot is they acted like she wasn't aware of her main issue. She was angry she didn't get into her first choice. While we all can relate, they then had it where she went from having these other talents to saying these talents were all in her head and vice versa. Everyone agrees, Kristin could have been gone a long time ago, even the major reduce roles of both Ryan and Boyd were welcome. What really got into problems was how they had Vanessa not only lose her job, but her problems otherwise. People don't lose jobs and then let them work because the principal doesn't want to hurt their feelings. Things with the union contracts would have stated that one or more employees would have to be cut to get what they wanted. Vanessa's ditziness got to the point where it was too much. Plus, Mike going on her on what SHE SHOULD do. The she shack episode was the best example where Vanessa called Mike out on his crap perfectly and her scene with Eve going into the airforce was well written and acted. The rest... the writers don't do their research or they have to have Vanessa play dumb to make the plots work. Which goes against who she was in both season 1 and 2. Season 3 they took a nose dive on things.

Not really, we've had a few episodes where Murray was pretty good in high school. He was athletic, won a championship, grades were great and so forth. Him missing one credit in a way I think is a view that has happened to a lot of people for years. "It's one credit, why are they making it such a big deal." The problem is state or university standards (applies to high school too) want that requirement for some dumb reason. I was all set to graduate during my undergraduate days but I needed one elective hour from a class I had taken three years earlier. My advisor messed up the requirement. So, I did it, but it was like 6 weeks and I was up and done before October even ended in 2000. Back to the show, I think the problem is, they have put it where while Murray doesn't really share a lot, he has always been a hard worker, so to find out this reveal, kind of goes against him even if he did a great analogy. "If I eat 99% of a sandwich, I still ate it."

It's fallen so off the deep end now. While the ratings have been good in syndication and the drop hasn't been too bad. I do hope that next season is the last because they don't know what to do with half the characters. Plus, the use of Jay Leno is just abysmal and Mike has gone from the Last Man Standing to super asshole and Vanessa if you looked into her ear you would see the person on the other side waving back.
-
You also have to put in the fact that the daughter will be away at college and the actress playing Molly said she won't be on as much next season as a result (she is also going to school in real life). So, now the home life changes too as one kid is out of the house.
-
I think a little of both. There were moments where there wasn't even a joke and the laugh track started. As many of us had said, this didn't seem like a season finale at all, but just a very bad episode. You look at this season here is what happened: 1. Starts off with the brunch for the restaurant, even if the bear thing was stupid. 2. Kyle and Mandy get engaged and married. 3. Eve getting over herself and going back to school. 4. Vanessa loses her job and opens up her own tutoring organization. 5. Ryan decides to let Boyd go back to school and he gets a job as a tutor/teacher. 6. Kyle's mom dies, leaves him land to build a house and so Mike can finally kick out Kyle and Mandy. 7. Eve moved in with Kristin and Ryan and the moved back home until she starts college. 8 Ed gets divorced for the 4th time. So, you add in all those things throughout the season, things happened. You look at the last 4 season finales, and major things happened. 1. Ryan return. 2. Boyd and Kristin move out. 3. Ryan and Kristin get engaged. 4. Ryan's father returns only to reveal he is going to die and is sorry about everything and Eve isn't going to Westpoint and doesn't know what to do with her life now. This season ends with Jay Leno and Chuck being complete idiots over the company's softball team, Mike knows they are and Mandy finds out that not all answers are in a book? Vanessa is apparently always happy even if you punch her out and apparently got her PhD by being a ditz? Umm... huh? A better way would have either Kristin or Mandy finding out they are pregnant. Eve realizing she is officially moving on with her life or Ed coming to grips he screwed up 4 marriages, had kids from each one and had a miscarriage with the last. Feeling he has to leave Mike and Kyle company when his time comes. Something other than, peanut butter being smeared on the company cameras. Talk of cronuts for 7 minutes and the fact that the kickboxing instructor being so weak that Eve kicked her ass.
-
That was a season finale? I mean, umm... everything with just painful. I think Eve was the only funny thing. As for Mandy, I would have told her professor: "Umm... you have to meet these guys, they fight about the stupidest things, so let's just leave it." Everything with Vanessa too was stupid, oh she can't get angry. Let's make another jab about Kristin being pregnant at 17 again. Because that never works. I haven't seen a directionless episode like this in years and nothing really was at stake like say the Dr. Ken season finale. I know the show is getting another season, but what the hell was this? Jay, you weren't funny and putting peanut butter on all the cameras? How old are you? Plus, where did you think that would be a good idea in what universe?

Original Flavor Season Talk: Dinner at Rodbell's

Seeing the original "Connors try to go Vegas" episode. It is amazing how much of an asshole Leon was. I know he changed as time when on and I did think Richard Moll did a good job. However, there was both good and bad points with him and Roseanne early on. Yes, Roseanne seemed to come and go as she pleased, but at the same time. Leon put himself in his matters several times. When he was trying to serve tables and he was telling customers they had to wait or get over themselves I wanted to go: "How did this guy become a manager?" He left and three episode later the cafe closed down and it's a few years later and Leon is a health inspector, which I thought fit the bill. However, later on when he was trying to buy Roseanne out of the Lunchbox and get rid of her after Bev left her half to Leon. There he was back in asshole mode and his reason were: "Just customers be happier without Roseanne around." I like how Dan then told him off (3 years too late) "I'm tired of defending you, for such a smart business person, you make extremely stupid decisions. Good luck." -
S04.E01: The Way of the Warrior

I felt that the Kligons were too easily manipulated into deciding to turn their back on the Federation thinking the Dominion was using Cardassia. Instead they ended up driving the Cardassians to the Dominion, having Golron look like a moron and even made Bajor come off looking like idiots later that year. I did like the upgrade to the battle power of DS9 and we wouldn't see something that awesome again until the end of season 5. However, while I loved Worf's reintroduction, I did feel like the Kligons took a major step backwards after this and took until the series ended to get back to who they should be. Because remember: "Honor first, and kill the rest." That's the Kligon way, oh please. -
This was in my opinion a very well acted episode. So many times and scenes that are heart breaking and we know that with Sisko gone, many things didn't happen like the Dominion War, Cardassia turning on the Federation, Bajor left in the void and even the Kligons returning to a Cold War status for about 30 years.

I get they have been setting up Stephaine's exit for a while now and she confirmed she isn't coming back and is going to another TV series. However, to have her all of a sudden be screw up central the last few episodes and then breaking down. Just no. Why can't she have been earning a position outside of the hospital and decides to follow her career as in she has nothing really left at GS Hospital?

My wife's uncle went through the same situation. He was starting a trial and was about to get the full treatment, but sadly much like Maggie's mom. The uncle's son was having a talk with his dad in the hospital. Got up to get something and when he turned back to sit, he was gone.
-
Was a very good episode, but with the dad showing up at the end. I felt that was a little too late and after Maggie's mom talked about how not to let anyone make her feel small. I knew that was right back up with how she talked about how she felt oppressed by her ex-husband for 10 years. Once again, WHAT THE HELL WAS HE DOING that made her feel like that. I'm hoping we get an answer since it's right after the funeral next week. That is one of the few times I want to know what the damn backstory is that lead to her mom cheating for 4 years and talking about she stayed for Maggie. Especially when her mom was talking about how Maggie was being too good for her own good over the years.
-
Yeah, you would think that. But oh no, Shondra figured that SUPER DRAMA over Amelia's "Brainless babies" fear was top notch writing.
-
The problem is they have painted her as unable to come to grips with constant issues. That the smallest thing, she can't deal with. Her parents excuses for staying together at least the last five years was because she wouldn't be able to handle them divorcing (which turned out true). She wants to yell at her "mom: over cheating and leaving the father and when her mother says: "For the first time in ten years, I feel I can finally breathe." Maggie's next line should have been: "Why?" "How horrible was dad that you felt so oppressed?" No, she just starts pouting and basically tells her mom to leave. She went on the other season about her ex-boyfriend, who was a good man, great in bed, but she couldn't sleep in the same bed as him and why they broke up. Then she got upset he turned around 2 years later and got married to someone else. I wanted to go: "It's been 2 years." Then when she gets together with an intern it's: "I don't want us to be public." "Ok, I do want us to be public." "Why are you going so public with our relationship." "I need a break, wait I want you back." "Now, I have no one." Maggie is painted as a 15 year old who never got over a guy dating and sleeping with her and then leaving her in the dust. Not someone who was a prodigy, became a great cardio surgeon and went on to find her missing biological family members. She is someone who would get smacked upside the head for being a ditz. 33 or not, you can have much, much better sense than that even if you just have a high school diploma and move furniture for a living.

Yeah, this was a terrible episode, but I did like the dinner scenes. Junior's situation happened to three of my uncles years ago when they were kids. Even my uncle threatened my cousins (they were 15 at the time) on sitting at the table. The problem was at the end with Ruby was too much. The writers have fallen on the TV troupe of taking a character's worst features and making them the focus. I loved when Ruby said that they were going to leave her there to die and Bow saying: "Prove it to us, Ruby!" When she has to call Bow a failure, it gets too old. I know they were trying to have Bow be the bigger person and letting her have it, but I wanted Bow to reply: "Do you ever get tired of thinking like that?"

My thing is, I enjoy sci-fi and fantasy, but as someone who enjoyed both the book and movies, I know where Adam was coming from. I'm someone who loves Harry Potter but hates Twilight. Who really enjoys magna, but didn't get into Dragonball Z until much later. I can enjoy Waiting for Godto but want The House of Bermuda Ald to burn. It just goes towards engagement and tastes.

Mrs. Readster and me were on the floor laughing with Cam and Mitch, that was the funniest I have seen the two of them. Especially when they woke up and had cowboy hats on and a dog. Enjoyed the Dumphies story line. Jay and Gloria were fine (my mother is the same way). However, seriously, outside the realism of California parking with Manny, his whole worry about the cappuccino machine was too stupid for words. Also, I love Nathan Fillion but I have hated what they have done with him all season with Rauner. Much like Axl and April over at The Middle, this relationship has been too much and very happy to have it come to an end. However, I'm with majority, either get Haley in a relationship with someone who makes sense, has chemistry and doesn't make us roll our eyes at it (especially given Sarah's health). Or just don't. I have to agree, why has Lily been so cut back on things this season, I get things with Luke but Lilly has been used very little the last few months.

What an enjoyable episode, but loved the fact that mom was the real Jackie.

You know, I always find it interesting when someone wants to kick someone out of the house for what ever reason. In Mike's case, even though they worked out a deal that Kyle and Mandy wanted to save for their own house and apparently have the money now. It's "Get out and stay out" attitude. Sure, now Kyle has inherited an acre of land from his deadbeat mom, but still. They really missed an opportunity with Kyle and Ryan because Kyle asked what parent just leaves their kid. Ryan should have been there going: "Me, and I learned that was the coward's way." Speaking of Ryan, they once again show how self absorbed he is. He doesn't know what to do if Boyd goes to school again because he won't know what to do. I know they filmed these episodes out of order and showed them too, but it paints Ryan as a complete dumbass. He has a teaching degree in History and a degree in history. They are short in Colorado with teachers and Mr. Rightwing self opinion could get a job in any school public or private as long as he doesn't piss off a parent. He get a job right away, especially since he is so concerned with the planet. It be a natural fit for him. I do like the writers basically had Eve say that what she did was stupid do to fear when she didn't get into Westpoint and then let it dominate her life. Instead of picking herself up and moving on.

Star Wars Rebels - General Discussion
readster replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Star Wars Rebels
I agree and yet is so in character for them since ANH. We see it with the Moffs, Admirals and even stormtroopers. That's why Thrawn's plan started falling apart as that personal glory for himself and others started conflicting and what lead to not crushing the Rebels completely. While Thrawn knows that this faction is just part of a larger piece. He knew if he took out the Phoenix Squadron that would start crushing their spirits. However, when Costentin wanted to take out Sato and then played into his plan too well. Followed by Bendu messing up the rest. He was shown at the very end, that while he hurt this faction of Rebels and lead to the Alliance keeping their forces still hidden on Yarin. He knew things are falling apart for him. Which will make him more desperate to clean up his screw up and the governor and admiral's screw ups. Bendu's final saying before he disappeared laughing at Thrawn proved that his days are not as "awesome" as he makes himself believe. -
Star Wars Rebels - General Discussion

I have to say, I liked how Sato finally rid us of Constantine, but I would have been happy if Kalus would have set a self destruct on the governor's star destroyer as he left. Hate her character, she is more smug than Constantine and we saw where that got him after 3 seasons. I'm find with Bendu Desu ex machina, but I loved at the end when he told Thrawn he was doomed and his defeat was going to come from many hands (basically meaning his ship, his men and finally the Alliance) and then when he tried to shoot him, he disappeared. Since we know there is going to be a season 4, we now know the set ups including Thrawn is already on the path to defeat. He wasn't expecting Constantine to screw up the blockade and Sato taking him out. He didn't expect Bendu or the Mandalorians coming to the fight. Not to mention Kalus escaping. I'm seeing what the Rebels writers doing with Tarkin, so by the time we get to Rogue One, he is set to use whatever he has to destroy the Alliance for good. -
Seriously, I can't get behind Amelia on anything. As much as Owen was bad with Christina. Her speech to Owen was just horrible, even when he told her: "You said you wanted this too." Then she is all: "Nope, I will have brainless babies, I just will. My brother is dead, I can't talk to you like a normal person, screw you!" "It's all your fault for this." Owen saying he wanted a family and Amelia saying he has it. I wanted him to repeat: "My sister is dead, my mom is declining in health, my dad is dead. Why can't I have the joys of raising a kid through the good and bad and letting my legacy continue?" It would have made all the points. Especially for Amelia who was from a family of 4. It's one thing to want say 2 or 3 kids then have one and realize that is enough or situations change and you are lucky to get one. However, it coms out that Amelia is still just a 15 year old who runs away. Speaking of 15, Maggie is right there too. My God! Her being pissed, blanking out everything! I mean this would have been a good time for her "mom" to tell her why she found her dad so smothering and why she cheated. Even saying that see how she acts now, that's why the stayed together because she acts like a teen when she gets news she doesn't like. I also follow it up by: "You broke up with a good man who wanted to marry you because you couldn't sleep in the same bed together, then got pissed he married 2 years later." I mean, it's like the girl who breaks up with the boyfriend because he says that he loves her and then gets mad when he gets together with someone who actually loves him back why they are all alone. Sorry, only James and Owen were good in this episode.

That has been asked several times the last two years. Even worst, they do outfits on her where one episode she looks pretty thin and the next where she looks like she is going into labor. After a lot of checking, Amanda Fuller did say she had been going through various weight gains and loses and did try having a baby the last two years. They said they would write it into the show if she did become pregnant. Considering how much critics and audiences don't enjoy Kristin, Boyd or Ryan. I don't see how it would work now. Of course that hasn't stopped them from making Vanessa look like a super idiot the last two years.
