  1. Oh I agree that this was a realistic exchange between the brothers. My post regarding the writing was in response to the poster that saw the line as annoying and stupid and wondered why Sam couldn't get to drive. I should have been clearer in my response but I didn't want to go too far off topic in the episode thread.
  2. And another example of bad writing because Sam has driven on more than one occasion and Dean has never made a fuss about him doing so.
  3. This is cute: http://hellredsky.tumblr.com/post/166589342941/bad-company-jack-imitating-dean
  4. Very well said. I totally agree.
  5. I enjoyed this episode more than last week but I continue to be bored by the AU and I can already tell that Asmodeus is going to be a little too over the top for me. Also agree with other posters that I don't like the handwaving over everything that they've shown us in previous seasons of how devastating soullessness turns out for the victim. Or maybe Donatello's lack of violent impulses that seemed to happen with the others was tempered due to him being a prophet *shrugs* I didn't mind Dean being prepared for the worst with Jack and Sam wanting to hope for the best but the whole " he's evil! let's kill him!" vs " he may be good! let's help him!" debate between the brothers will be annoying if they don't find some middle ground. Also loved seeing a bit of badass Dean with the angel blade throw & the Jack mimicry of Dean was amusing. Exactly!!
  6. This is a great point. I believe @Pondlass1 said that both of the characters were flawed which makes them interesting and I totally agree. Both are awesome but they can also both be dicks in equal measure IMO.
  7. Basically if one creates a post as @takalotti did above with details of the fic that you’re looking for you usually get a response and a link to what you’re looking for no matter where it’s posted online, not just fics on livejournal. You’ll usually get a few recs for similar fics as well.
  8. I’m an avid fic reader and I agree that you can find everything on this site!
  9. Oh I see. Thanks for the clarification; I thought that you were referring to something that had actually occurred on the show. Of course Sam & Dean have murdered vessels occupied by demons numerous times as you yourself have pointed out without regard for the person actually being possessed but I guess Mrs. Tran is different because Dean is the one that made the attempt in this ep. Gotcha.
  10. I love Purgatory also & I wished we had gotten more scenes out of it. I should have mentioned the Dean finds Cas scene because I loved that as well. I won't hate on your ship in that scene! Also can't go wrong with Benny! I loved his relationship with Dean almost as much as his relationship with Cas. When was Dean happy to let someone kill possessed Sam? I must be having a brain fart because I don't remember this.
  11. Just rewatched this ep today; one of the handful of ones from season 8 that doesn't make me throw my remote at the screen. I have to say my favorite scene is tied with Sam's reverse exorcism and Dean's Purgatory flashback that motivated his aggression during the interrogation with the prisoner. Also, the splashing of Kevin's mother with holy water by Sam & Dean and her startled expression never fails to make me laugh :)
  12. Lol!! I mostly remember being giddy the entire time because Krycek was in the episode :) I'm answering! My guess is because Bobby was family ( figuratively) while Ness was just a guy that didn't know Dean. Also I assume during Ness's time period men who expressed those kind of emotions were seen as softer than the usual hard boiled type guys that were more commonplace those days. My assumption is only based off of all of the old movies that I've watched; the strongest emotion that was usually displayed was anger :(
  13. I always thought that it was to create a parallel between Fred & Cas. When Sam & Cas are in Fred's dreamscape and Sam said that you can't run from reality ( or something to that effect) the close up on Cas and his later feelings of wanting to return to heaven and fix things seem to support that. Also, in an earlier scene when Cas confides to Dean that he was reluctant to return to because of what he did while he was Levi Cas seems to support the theme of hiding from reality also. Yes it could apply to Sam in this ep but I saw it more with Cas. IMO, of course. Or the writers made it so that it was seen as abandonment by Dean's character. Just as the writers or Carver can be blamed for Sam's overall season 8 behavior the same can be said for Dean.
  14. And it made zero sense for him to bring it up considering what they were discussing. Bad, bad, bad writing!!
  15. That's your opinion based on your feelings towards the character. I'm talking about Bobby's perspective based on his relationship with Dean.
  16. It doesn't change the issue at hand but maybe Bobby wouldn't have brushed it off as "family is supposed to make you miserable" and actually shown some empathy instead of the princess speech. I know that it was seen by many fans as being the most effective way to get through to Dean but it was a big "eff you Bobby" moment for me.
  17. I agree and also were we shown how much time had passed between the fight and the aftermath when Dean was with Bobby? I actually don't remember the beginning all that well. Personally I think that Bobby was in the know in regards to what had gone down and his "boo hoo princess" speech was because he felt that it wasn't important enough to write Sam off. It wouldn't make sense for Dean to have not told Bobby especially if he felt comfortable enough to tell him that he told Sam not to come back IMO.
  18. I binge watched when I first got into this show and after the season 4 finale I couldn't believe how much Sam had changed from the beginning of the season. I'm more Dean leaning but I liked Sam & I wondered how the writers were going to redeem him from all that had transpired. It didn't color my overall feelings for the character because I was able to enjoy Sam again in the following seasons but I don't rewatch the majority of season 4.
