  1. If Disney Princesses were in Game of Thrones... N.B If you want to remain super unspoiled don't read the comments below each picture as some contain mild spoilers.
  2. Oxford English Dictionary: White = Pronunciation: /wʌɪt Wight = Pronunciation: /wʌɪt Both sound exactly the same according to OED but as I said above, in RP White is slightly different to Wight. Interesting to note that the origin of the word wight is: Old English wiht 'thing, creature', of Germanic origin; related to Dutch wicht 'little child' and German Wicht 'creature'.
  3. The only time (I can think of) in my native British English where a, slight, difference could be heard is in RP, but apart from The Queen (& older royals/courtiers/black & white BBC newsreels etc) who uses RP nowadays? Considering that in Westeros, the 'common tongue' appears to be the english language spoken mostly by, so far on the show, those with regional British accents I think it's perfectly understandable (yes, confusing perhaps) that those words should sound exactly the same.
  4. 8. They prefer (and apparently generate) cooler climes. 9. Some of them, don't use moisturiser EVER. 10. They have a seemingly inbuilt mistrust of spray tan. 11. They are massive Frank Sinatra fans. (ol' blue eyes). 12. Presumably they take ice in their drinks.
  5. Thanks for confirming that. I've removed the spoiler tags in my post now. :)
  6. Short answer: We now know that the WW are a 'race' that inhabit the far, far North (I presume), who are sentient beings, the re-animated corpse types are called 'Wights' and they are basically mindless drones created by the WW's to do their bidding. It would also appear that there are at least 2 different 'types' of WW, i.e. the horse rider, shrivelled looking types and the type who changed the baby into a baby WW. In the pilot you see the shrivelled type WW's and the re-animated little girl who is a Wight.
  7. Mod Reminder: Please remember to spoiler tag any Book Talk in this thread. Thank you.
  8. Around the same time he changes his underpants. Eww now THAT image is in my head! I've just been a little sick in my mouth.... blech :s
  9. Quote: from Inside TV 2011 '“I hope it lasts for 20 years,” says HBO programming president Michael Lombardo of the show. “I promise you we won’t stop it before it’s ready to stop … there’s a great relationship fans have with the show and we appreciate that. We’ve never seen people get so excited about casting [decisions].”. Which infers that they would be happy to continue as many seasons as D&D want to go to.' This quote is from 2011, only 2 seasons in, considering the show is even bigger now, I would say it isn't HBO who want to finish the show in 7 seasons. :)
  10. Episode Synopsis: “Dany balances justice and mercy. Jaime tasks Brienne with his honor. Jon secures volunteers while Bran, Jojen, Meera, and Hodor stumble on shelter.” Reminder: There is open air book talk here. If you are just watching the TV show and you don't want to stumble into a potential spoiler you should leave now. Book Talk assumes you have read all the books to date. Any information from unpublished books, such as preview chapters should be in spoiler tags.
  11. Episode Synopsis: “Dany balances justice and mercy. Jaime tasks Brienne with his honor. Jon secures volunteers while Bran, Jojen, Meera, and Hodor stumble on shelter.” Reminder: This is for discussion of the TV show only, no book talk allowed - including saying "but it's different in the books". Any spoiler from outside the books (i.e. next weeks preview) should be in spoiler tags.
  12. I can't speculate in here, but I suspect it will be good fun if you can,...gets comfy, dips & chips at the ready...let the spectating begin!
  13. Yes there's deffo something suss about charlie. Apparently his mother (Mrs Doyle from Father Ted - Love it!) is coming into the show soon, so we should see further developments there. Please please let her be there when the vicar visits so she can ask "would you like a cup of tea father?" "Go on, go on, go on".....repeat x 20 lol! ETA: Uh oh, looks like she's a wrong 'un! The above is about a new character joining soon that I read about, spoilered it just in case. Re Cindy, I don't get why Ian is putting up with her antics (getting pregnant, stealing 10k from Phil etc) when she isn't even related to him bioloically?! Tonight's episode, scene with Ian & Phil, had me blubbing again....EE you're eViL to us sentimental types!
  14. It is going to be the last person you would expect....so maybe Dot! lol.
  15. I want her to get over it yes but I do completely understand it at the same time.
  16. Always liked your well thought out posts when you were an unsullied constantinople. Like them even more now I can interact with them :) I think your theory has merit, (That ISN'T a spoiler btw) just my opinion.
  17. That person you guessed M.Darcy, is leaving in the autumn (aka fall) so don't see how it could be them?
  18. I think the Stark kids are perhaps not the heart but the backbone of the whole saga which is precisely why they are separated and are spread over different storylines.
  19. To be fair to Sansa, she thinks Bran & Rickon are dead, Arya is presumed dead and from what we've seen she wasn't close to Jon Snow (unlike Arya & Robb). Jon thinks they're all dead save Sansa (I think) and his 'Starkness' won out when he decided to put duty first before family. Ayra can't get to Sansa (she in the lion's den - pun intended) and I'm sure she also believes B&R are dead (no doubt the hound told her about Winterfell etc). I think given the choice she probably would go to Jon but she's the hounds captive so has no choice. Bran doesn't have the foggiest where his sisters are (presumably in KL) and again his 'Starkness' won out when he decided that he has 'a quest' to fulfill. Rickon is just a little kid trying to stay alive & hidden. I think they all (except Jon), lost their compass when Catelyn was killed. Although it isn't clear whether Bran & Rickon know about the RW? I assume Rickon does IF he reached Last Hearth of course.
  20. I think that was done purposely...why not show use the kids reactions? I was like "Get off my screen Denise, I wanna see the kids!" But it is interesting that they 'hid' their reactions (esp Cindy's, she POI No1 in my book). I also think it's a little comedic that they're giving lots of people a little bit of 'shadyness' to make them all seem 'hmmm'. Not buying it, for starters, it def isn't Jake, that was so obvious they wanted us to think "omg look at him acting all guilty". If this is gonna run until Feb 2015, there is no way they're going to be throwing out such obviousness to the real murderer at us already.
  21. Hi folks, For those of you who don't know; Handy Tip #1: To quote a specific post in a different thread (rather than the whole thread), just click on the day/timestamp under the posters name and hey presto, a url will appear that you can copy/paste into your own post. Have fun. :)
  22. What about Jon Snow? He is a Snow yes but he was still part of House Stark, has Stark blood in his viens.
