  1. I had a vague notion of what Joni Mitchell's Raised on Robbery was about; that the lady in lacy sleeves was engaged in the world's oldest profession. When I bought the album and played it during high school, I missed a lot of the nuances in the lyrics and I really enjoy listening to this track now. I bought Court and Spark (obsessed with A Free Man in Paris) and also For The Roses. Cold Blue Steel and Sweet Fire taught me all about heroin addiction. It freaking terrorized my young mind. I loved her, and I had her all to myself within my family because my brothers didn't like her music.
  2. Same. I would have a quiet word with one of the stews. Also, soak in COLD water. Sorry guys.
  3. Thanks @Welshman in Ca and @Teri313. I knew I didn't dream that quote from Kate!
  4. I kind of related to the Karen who was crying and complaining to the Captain. Please consider the possibility that she is uncomfortable with confrontation and complaints and speaking up like that was really quite stressful for her. OTOH, she didn't contribute much to the tip so eff her.
  5. Where the HELL did all that blood come from? Was every guest on board having their periods at the same time and everyone forgot to pack tampons/pads? Were they using the ship's towels as substitutes? (Sorry to the men reading this.) And blood on the floor. I don't even know how that would happen. I think these guests were by far the messiest PIGS ever in the entire franchise. As one of the stews said, how can people live like this? Just disgusting. I wasn't surprised four of them were named Karen.
  6. This reminded me of a headline I read recently, that John Lennon left NOTHING to Julian Lennon in his will. What a prick. Paul (the cute one) was my favorite Beatle when I was young, then it switched to John when I realized almost all my favorite Beatles songs were his. But the more I read about John, the more I realize what a horrible, petty person he really was. OMG I'm seeing them live in June at the Greek in Los Angeles. I can hardly wait. I fecking love Shirley Manson; still so sexy. The supporting band is Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and Oasis (and the Rolling Stones) are my all-time favorite bands. For me, this will really be a night to remember. Sorry to brag!!!
  7. ^^^This, so much. It's my #1 bad manners/gross out thing. I should never be forced to see half-chewed food in your mouth. 🤢
  8. I love clever names like this. Like the rapper Special Ed.
  9. Round and Round - Ratt (1984) Round and Round - Tevin Campbell (1990, courtesy of @KWalkerInc) Round and Round - Spandau Ballet (2008) I'm giving you one per decade.
  10. I can't help it. I always think of Chef Ben when the other Season 10 Ben is mentioned. I 💜 Chef Ben, and Kate said he's really good in bed. Ha, I hadn't even read that long post about Chef Ben's new venture when I commented. Weird.
  11. 100% agree. It's a personal decision that shouldn't be forced by another.
  12. That Angel guy was anything but. What a total pig. Ugly, dismissive, and an alcoholic. Such a lovely combination. "Ohh, what is it like not to be me?" It's fantastic, you douche.
  13. That girl doesn't even look like Camille. And so it goes. Another Autotune Star is Born. 🤢
  14. Here's another one and it's pretty wild because these two bands are contemporaries, they've played together at many concerts, and they were both heavily influenced to start their bands by seeing The Stone Roses. Manchester Massive! Slide Away - The Verve Slide Away - Oasis
  15. God, I'm embarrassed about this one because I've been singing this line in the chorus of Pearl Jam's Jeremy incorrectly for the whole damn time. I sing "Jeremy's spoken, here today." Eddie sings "Jeremy spoke in class today." Eddie's version makes more sense because Jeremy probably never spoke during class -- until he took out his gun.
  16. I just noticed Jett 🙄 when I was watching last night. What a weirdo. I've never seen anyone playing basketball so badly. I think I could beat him and I've never played the game in my life!
  17. Oh cripe. Kane Lim just showed up on the plane. The one with the chipmunk cheek fillers. I remember him from Bling Empire OG. I didn't like him then and I probably won't like him now.
  18. I'm enjoying this show a lot. I agree that Richard Chang is a controlling ass. The way he spoke to his girlfriend was horrible. And yes, watching Nam Laks wrangling her luggage All By Herself (OMG) was hilarious, as was her shameless ignorance of, well, how to live. I have her down as the biggest diva of them all. How about that strange hanger-on, Blake, always inserting himself into the girls' nights out. It's not that I don't like Blake; I just don't understand why he's there. I kind of like Stephan and Deborah because it feels like they truly care about one another and he seems like the most laid back dude ever. And finally, my favorite is Lynn Ban, the ever-so-slightly older woman with the dark makeup all around her eyes. She's gutsy and has absolutely no fucks to give. My kind of gal. Geez, I forgot all about Dorothy Wang, maybe because she's so forgettable and played out. I was bummed out when I realized she was going to be a big part of this show.
  19. Oh my gosh, I'm afraid to say that I agree with you. I don't think she's taking good care of her wig and it shows. Also, and this is absolutely not her fault, I think she may have some kind of issue with the skin on her face. She uses that extra-thick base coat of foundation and sometimes it seems like it's cracking in the natural creases of her face. Haley, if you're reading this, I'm really sorry and I like your work ethic.
  20. From Fairytale of New York, by The Pogues: What he sang - Got on a lucky one, came in eighteen-to-one. What I heard - God, I'm a lucky one, came in eighteen-to-one. But you can't really blame me, man. Shane MacGowan wasn't exactly known for precise pronunciation. I've loved this song for so many years.
  21. Easy Now - Eric Clapton Easy Now - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (single from yet to be released album)
  22. I really love this mashup. Did you make it up @Uncle JUICE?
  23. Thanks for the clarification. I remember Gerald feeling so lucky that this "true lady" had consented to marry him, a lowly Irishman.
  24. That really ticked me off when I was a young girl. The ONE time Scarlett is innocent with Ashley, the famous/infamous India Wilkes catches them in an embrace, which leads to Scarlett wearing that amazing RED dress and Melanie embracing her as a sister.
  25. And the so very sad thing to remember is that, after Melanie's death, and seeing Ashley's helplessness about losing her, Scarlett finally realizes that her true love was Rhett and not Ashley. She runs home in the fog, through her recurring dreamscape, to the place she knows she'll be safe, and that is home with Rhett. And of course, by that point, they are at "cross purposes" and it's too late. When I was a little girl, I read GWTW every summer. I have vivid memories of lying on a blanket out in the back yard, just drinking it in all afternoon. I also remember Scarlett's mother's back story of being in love with a French man but being forced to marry the rough, gruff, Irish Gerald O'Hara. And when Ellen O'Hara dies, she cries out the name of her French lover. SO romantic to a young girl. I feel guilty about all of this, and my love for the book, because of the inherent racism in GWTW. But I did recognize this at an early age because, after all, the Klan were the GOOD guys. Oh, cruel dichotomy.
