  1. Hi have you met us? Seriously there are people here (and everywhere to be honest) that are so deeply stupid I seriously wonder how they manage to find their way home after work.
  2. I also didn't recognize "This Corrosion" right away, the lyrics sounded familiar but it wasn't clicking for me. I loved following the extra. The directors are certainly characters aren't they? I would have liked more from the cast but it was nice to give the people behind the scenes their time to shine. There was a lot to complain about as far as writing and charachter arcs, but every body else, actors, crew, artisans have really given their all and it should be commended. I get why a lot of them are offended by the "redo" petition.
  3. We'll have to agree to disagree. Sansa didn't credit her rape either, she was saying her suffering made her stronger. I will agree the line was clumsy as hell but that's how I took it.
  4. Dany said as much last season to Jon when she also listed the horrors he endured.
  5. To paraphrase the late, great R. Lee Ermey: Whatt the fuck was that happy horseshit??? Awful. The only twinge I felt was for Brienne writing in the book (that survived a massive conflagration may I add) for Jaime. The jokes weren't funny, the end was unsatisfying and nonsensical, and the plot was idiotic. Why? No wonder Emilia Clarke gagged and Kit Harrington said he found it disapponting.
  6. I'm glad Jaime's flippant remark about not caring about the small folk grated on others as much as it did me. Him feeling compelled to return to Cersei's side so she did't die alone made some sense (though it still should have been fleshed out better) but that comment to me is what ruined his arc. For the rest, I wouldn't mind the outcomes as much if the journeys to them made better sense. It's been an honor and a priviledge.
  7. I agree with most of your points and these two with a couple small exeptions. I still think it's clear Jaime loves Brienne as well but feels it Cersei he deserves and she was pregnant with his child so I sort of get it. My issue was him saying flippantly to Tyrion, with whom he is normally honest, that he doesn't care about the people of KL? WTF? He lost his reputation as an "honorable" kingsguard to protect them and know he doesn't care? The Cersei thing had some sense, that part had none.
  8. OK so I've had a bit ore time to digest it. Still didn't like the episode but there were a few "bright spots" for me. 1) The actors: Kit Harrington was kind of weak but he's always been one of the weaker actors on the show IMO. But the rest of them brought their A games in a big way. Even if the writing was weak the acting across the board was stellar (except as noted above). 2) In retrospect even if it wasn't satisfying Cersei geniuinely terrified and cowering in the bowels of the Red Keep made sense in it's own way. Very Hitler in his Bunkeresque. 3) Visuals were terrifyingly beautiful. 4) They made a point of showing in detail the suffering of the common people which is often ignored or glossed over. I would have minded this episode less if it was not all so rushed. But the rushed conclusion and poor plotting and writing just hurt the show.
  9. The only thing I'm grateful for is the spoilers of the Dothraki going on a rape rampage were false.
  10. I'm not the purist some people are, I didn't hate last season, I didn't even hate all of last week's episode. This I hated. The actors did their best but not one damn thing made sense for the characters. Varys is the sneaky spider for YEARS and is found out immediately, Dany goes insane in two days and commits the firebombing of of fucking Dresden? The Unsullied, the most disciplined soldiers ever massacre soldiers who've surrendered? Jaime heads back to Cersei and they die together and in lurve. Arya is the only person not burned to death and finds a white fucking horse she trots off on. Only Davos was remotely in character. This episode was a pile of bad.
  11. First mention of bells!
  12. I've been in love with him since I saw him in Bent, in about 1998 or so. Then soon I realized not only was he beautiful, he could really act too. He's done Jaime justice and gave him real depth and humanity. Just like Lena Heady did to Cersei. There are many faults with this show but the actors almost all bring their A game to their roles. I hope some at least get the ending they "deserve" .
  13. Great, now all I can think about is if a squirrell somewhere is wondering if he left the gas on. I'm also dreading if they do the Jon kills Dany thing. I'm far from a Dany stan, but that's a shit outcome for both of their characters.
  14. I'm not sure she thinks she's fanatical, I just think Sansa doesn't like her and doesn't think she's got the right temperament. Add to that Sansa doesn't want the North (or herself) to cede power again.
  15. I agree that the idea of her being tried and executed is probably the most satisfying for a lot of people but I don't see it happening on this show in particular and to her character. She'd jump out of the Red Keep I think before submitting to a trial. And this show does not have much in the way of justice except for the ocassional poetic comeuppance. But it's generally due to sabotage of some sort and very little formal punishment.
  16. There was a set of leaks from Friki, some of which were posted here already that had something interesting. It said Jaime didn't appear until the end of the eposide and thought that the destruction was caused by Dany alone. This seemed an interesting point and I wonder if he's going to slay a different queen than the one we are expecting if this is remotely accurate.
  17. Assuming that most of the spoilers are true, many if not most of the fans will be unhappy. So let's chat about our fantasy endings. Dany gets grief counseling, Jon gets depression meds and they rule as co-regents. The North will rule itself. Sansa is queen. Varys finds a maester who can attach new junk, and he goes off on wild (consensual) sexcapades all through the land. Cleganebowl happens, the Hound wins then after some time healing at an ashram, heads up North to be Sansa's head queensgard. Arya opens a martial arts school, teaches young ladies self defense and has regular booty calls with Gendry. Jaime feeds Cersei to Drogon and heads back to Brienne. After making him sleep on the couch for five years she forgives him and they have many knightly adventures. Pod kills Bronn and becomes master of Highgarden. Grey Worm takes Missandei's body to be buried in her home, then gets to go home to his lands and be with his family. Tormund finds another big woman, who actually wants him as well, and they make many giant babies who give Ghost all the pets. Tyrion gets to retire somewhere with lots of books and wine and finds his long lost wife. Bran - I don't care Davos - Hand of the co-rulers
  18. Again YMMV. Everyone is acting like I said it was awesome, when I did not. Simply that of the storylines that included rape it at least had some reasoning behind it. I merely stated TO ME it did not ruin her arc. I understand it did for you and respect that. Since this did not happen at all in the books, nor am I that far in them I might feel differnetly. Or I might feel . different if GRRM was further along in the story and what he wrote made me feel differently. Now I'm done defending my comments because it's clear all it will do is cause more pointless back and forth. I do agree about Euron, he's the current invincible Big Bad, until he's not. Probably next week. The actor is clearly having fun in the role, but he's not a compelling character at all.
  19. No I didn't say it was FINE, I just said it had at least some narrative sense to me. And again was at least off screen unlike the others I'd mentioned. Nuance is possible. Would the show have been fine without it? Yes. But did having it in the show destroy Sansa's character arc? No to me. It wasn't necessary but its portrayal did not offend me like the others did. YMMV.
  20. In regard to Sansa's treatment from Ramsay, it was brutal but at least off screen and had some narrative reason. The rape plots I had issue with were the gratuitous Craster's Keep scenes and Jaime raping Cersei in the show when it was not that way in the book. And again served no narrative point. I don't hate this season anywhere near as much as a lot of people do, though I was disapponted in the last episode. But if these leaks are accurate there is not one thing I'm seeing that makes sense with the exceptin of Varys betraying Dany which has been teased and foreshadowed.
  21. We discussed this on the episode thread and joked their depiciton of travel time is so inconsistant it could have been anywhere from 2 days to several weeks and we have no clue. Jamie was content to stay in Winterfell until he got that news. I don't think he's returning to Cersei because he adores her. He's either doing it to kill/try to stop her. Or he feels its what he deserves since they're both "hateful". I thought NCW and GC killed in that scene and each made you feel their anguish.
  22. It wasn't just one "pity fuck" though. They were together from the first time shown until they got word about the ambush on Dany. Then there was a (unbenownst to Brienne) goodbye bang before Jamie left. Remember he was sitting at the foot of the bed and Brienne was sleeping before he tried to sneak off.
  23. Yes the Jaime betrayal stuck in my craw too, not only because I like the character but because it made zero sense. Him returning to Cersei to kill her/die with her is less surprising. But we've seen no sign of betrayal on his part I think that was a leap in logic unless something is revealed next episode. Though I can see Dany taking him prisoner if he's trying to return to KL. Maybe Sansa gives Brienne leave to go follow Jaime? She's very fond of her so maybe that's it. Some of the other leaks make sense but not loving the final arc of the show if these appear to be true. And most of them do at this point.
  24. Well the way they cut corners with time travel it could have been anything from 2 weeks to two days. But yes there were clearly "together" that entire time and Jamie seemed content to stay and leave Cersei to her own devices.
  25. Well he hit it again and was planning on staying in Winterfell until he heard about the dragon death so he must have liked it at least a bit. I think his feelings toward Cersei are *ahem* complicated to put it mildly.
