  1. I binged the whole series over the past week. overall, it was good enough as something to watch that was entertaining enough, putting aside any belief in timetables. apparently DNA kits are considered evil in Virgin River because it would have been very useful for Charmaine/Jack, Doc/Denny & Mel/Jack. I found myself getting more & more annoyed with Mel’s character as the seasons went on. So mopey, such a perma victim. Yes, she had a lot to deal with in the beginning (spouse death/baby death). But despite wanting peace she took on a guy who was dealing with serious PTSD, had a drinking problem, & was confrontational with the local drug leader. even when she got what she MOST WANTED, her pregnancy, she couldn’t be happy. Still moping & sighing & woe is me. Speaking of, who pouts because their boyfriend of a few months doesn’t want to have a baby? When he’s expecting twins no less? And she had the gall to say her sister was moving too fast. I didn’t understand when Paige went to Preacher why they couldn’t go to the police. Paige mistakenly thought she would be arrested but all Preacher had to do was explain Wes was found out as a bad cop & her abuse story would be believed. So tired of characters taking on kidnappers & drug dealers alone, without telling anyone where they are going. I’ll watch the next season but I’m not really interested in the drugs & Brady story, or Joey & the rapist.
  2. Ok, I just binged Seasons 1-7 for the 2nd time & read through each season’s threads. I’ll dump my thoughts: -early on, Emily calls Lorelei a “petulant 2 yr old” because she’s sulking about something. It’s the phrase that carried me through all of Lorelei’s pouting when she doesn’t get her own way or is not the center of attention (eg when she tells E & R she & Luke are broken up & they don’t react). It helps that Lauren’s mouth naturally curves downward for true “sulky- face”. -Rory, although trying to come off as shy & humble, also has this same quality. After the dinner with Bobbi she complains to Logan “no one talked about me!” Ok dumbass, the dinner was to celebrate their acquisition, it wasn’t about you. She also assumes she’ll get any job she applies for until she’s taken down a peg. Such a special snowflake, maybe it’s Lorelei’s & the town’s fault. - I can’t buy that Lane just decides to become a drummer & is good enough to be in a band with barely any practice. My boys are musicians & have been playing for 10 years & are finally getting some paying gigs. -Cousin Oliver, I mean April, was the show jumping the shark for me. Rory getting too old so they had to bring in another brainy girl. And that annoying, child actor voice! - it was incredibly selfish for Lorelei to hold off on Christmas when GiGi was living in the house. Did GiGi get to see Santa? GiGi had no presents to open on Christmas? You would think the adult Rory could be the one to give up her Christmas. - I will never like Jess as a character. I get the Christopher hate but that’s how I feel about Jess. Not everyone has an ideal childhood but you don’t have to be an ass to everyone. I didn’t like him as a boyfriend to Rory. She wanted to do things & would beg & he’d say no, unless Dean was going to be there. Too many mind games. I was furious when she asked him to leave multiple times when he brought dinner over & he refused. I didn’t understand why Lorelei never asked Chris for child support. I could get it if she didn’t want him in their lives, but from what I heard he called Rory & showed up to E & R’s at holidays. It seems that Richard esp would have pressed him on it. I don’t see how they could have welcomed him into their house otherwise. Chris was a lazy ass but his family had money & Rory was entitled to it. - Lorelei gives Luke an ultimatum “let’s get married NOW” but doesn’t understand when Chris does the same thing “let’s have a baby NOW”. - Rory gets 1 criticism from Mitchum & quits Yale. Logan blows a million dollar deal & takes a weekend with his friends in Vegas to unwind & gets the lecture from her about how irresponsible he is. And her yelling about his privilege- can she not look in a mirror? Not everyone has rich grandparents funding private high school, a new car at graduation, & tuition for Yale! -why does Rory get a goodbye party, kinda confused because for awhile she was the town pariah for sleeping with the married Dean. She didn’t spend that much time there once she went to Yale. Did everyone that left get a party? whew, done for now!
  3. Watching this late to the game (just finished the series so far) but had to chime in on the cul de sac discussion. I grew up in a small town in Indiana & we lived on one. We called it a “keyhole street”. When people didn’t understand what a keyhole street was we would say “cul de sac”. When I was dating my now- husband, I gave him directions to our house & even though he was from the same town, told him it was on a cul de sac. He later told me he was thinking “la de dah” because I didn’t say keyhole. Still teases me about that.
  4. I had watched Good Witch over the years & agree with all of the previous comments. I lost interest when the “magic” went away & it turned into typical hallmark romances. I heard the series had ended so I just binged the entire series. Couldn’t even look at Catherine Bell’s face near the end- so puffy & weird. Her character was different too. She used to be so upbeat & happy. The last season esp she was moody & sad & didn’t seem to take much interest in the other townspeople’s problems. I know they explained it (sort of) when she was talking with her mother about it being a burden, but it just seemed like a dark cloud over a formally happy & energetic character. i liked Abigail’s character more before Donovan. I know some here didn’t, but she had a different way of getting a good result. Cassie’s “know it all” ness grated sometimes. Grace was one of my least favorite characters. Smug, know it all, in everyone’s business, & that breathy way she delivered her lines. My favorite character was probably Martha. Loved her from the start, even when we weren’t supposed to like her. I hated the hospital scenes, so unrealistic. Adam has a tumor removed from his cervical spine & he’s sitting in bed afterwards with no monitoring equipment, not even a brace to stabilize his neck? And Sam is just looking amused that Adam can’t grip with his hand after surgery? All in all, I liked the series but it was so inconsistent. They threw in so much magic at the end that viewers were asking for all this time (& George & Sam knew?!). Remember when Grace was teased for being a witch & asked Cassie why she saw things ahead of time? Perhaps that would have been a good time to say, yes, Grace, you are a witch!
  5. I enjoyed season 2 better than season 1. my favorite characters were the ones that make me laugh: Benedict, Lady Featherington, the Queen, Newton. I don’t understand why an actress agrees to take a role & then is never available. I can’t place the Bridgerton daughter who’s name starts with F if she was in a lineup. I can see why they can write off Simon not being there for events, they don’t live close by & he has Duke duties. But the F daughter should be in all of the family scenes. And if they continue to have Daphne make appearances & the Simon actor isn’t available, he should be replaced.
  6. I don’t see Daphne as the innocent victim here. She had a prince ready to propose & instead she went to the dark path. She knows enough that this could jeopardize her reputation. She doesn’t run from Simon back into the house she runs further into the area she knows she shouldn’t be in. She sealed her own fate.
  7. If Daphne was so proper & such a rule follower, why did she stupidly go in the garden by herself, twice? The place where reputations can be ruined. She knows better. If she needs “air”, go on a balcony or in another room. Am I the only one rooting for the Prince? Love Lady Featherington!
  8. I’ll disagree: Grace had a career & kids, & wasn't a warm or attentive mother. Mallory took an unpaid intern job & we never saw her interact or talk about her 4 children again. I enjoyed the childless Brianna character much more than the bland boring Mallory. I always saw Brianna as a mini- Grace. They both seemed more career oriented & disliked being around children. I disliked Barry as a partner for Brianna & wish they had never had her persue him after they initially broke up. I wish instead she realized he was never going to be right for her & she did the dumping OR they hadn’t introduced the sperm donor story at all & instead portrayed them as a happy childless couple.
  9. Also I thought since they knew border patrol would be looking for 2 old ladies, that they would have dyed their hair & bought younger age inappropriate looking clothes, like tube tops & short skirts.
  10. I’d rather listen to the boys show tunes than see another scene with Mallory.
  11. My favorite line was Robert’s: “I’ve got plenty of time to eat about that later”.
  12. Almost spit out my drink at Grace with the Afghan around her shoulders getting spoon fed by Nick & mumbling. Love that Frankie was all in as Adelaide too.
  13. The whole episode I kept thinking “just buy a taller toilet”. They also make grab bars with a taller seat. That house looks like it has steep stairs, that would be the problem for someone that was 80. My dad had the prostate surgery. Yes it extended his life but he has so many problems from the radiation he wishes he had just left it alone. It’s a very slow growing cancer.
  14. You all that are saying Nick is a stalker. Are you forgetting when they broke up? Grace hunted him down when he was having lunch with his mother. And the time he was hiding behind a newspaper so she wouldn’t see him. Grace made it clear she wanted to be in the relationship.
  15. So Mallory is the one that decides to speedster. Her husband buys a new car & that gives her the right to smash it? Not funny. Between Brianna’s “you should have known not to listen to what I say” to Barry, & Mallory’s vandalism, is it any wonder women get a bad rap?
  16. I liked the first movie. This one is more about the family than the servants (though I enjoyed the part the servants played at the end). Not as many laughs but interesting to learn more about each character & maybe a few tears were shed (darn dusty theater!). Only a week out & the theater was nearly empty (5 people). Granted it was a matinee but I hope it does well enough for a 3rd movie. Though it seems they’ve wrapped things up so I don’t know which direction a next one would take. Marys husband being gone opened up the storyline of flirtation/temptation but I was really hoping her husband would at least put in an appearance at the end. Robert looked shockingly thin. I’ve just binged the whole series & 1st movie, & it surprised me every time he was onscreen. They should have given him the “I’m ill” story. On another note, why did they even make that story for Lady Granthem? It didn’t add anything to the movie. And his face was so dark/orange in one scene. It seemed to copy some of “singing in the rain”, but in that movie you never see what happened to the actress with the terrible voice. I liked that this one followed through what her future plans were. I liked that Edith & Mary weren't constantly sniping at each other. I think Mary got a dig or 2 in, but everyone seemed to roll their eyes & moved on. Overall a good movie & I’ll be watching it again when it is streaming.
  17. I hated Roland my first watch through this series (Bob too). Still hated him my 2nd watch through. Now I’ve watched it a 3rd time & I like ALL the characters. My favorite part of this show was not the romances. It was the contrast of the Roses & the townspeople of Schitts Creek. Which is probably why I lived Moira’s character so much. Yes, she grew to have some affection for them but she couldn’t wait to get out of there. Season 1 is still my favorite. David’s look of horror esp when interacting with Roland & Jocelyn’s way of life is just too funny! Even in the later seasons “wtf is a sprinkle?” It would be unrealistic for every character to be like able. If everyone was nice, what would be their reason for wanting to leave the town? Roland’s character represented everything they assumed about small towns that was repugnant- their clothes, their decor, their food, etc. And deep down Roland was very loyal & welcomed them in from the start.
  18. I was wishing that when Esther hadn’t heard from Lord Babbington, that she would write a letter & walk to town & post it herself.
  19. So are they just making the story up as they go along? I know they have limited JA material to draw from, but I would have thought they would have the plot outlined & let the actors know what was expected of them, time wise. What was the point of having Sidney & young Stringer as love interests for Charlotte if the actors were not going to return? Now they had to add 2 new love interests, Colbourne & Lennox? I see how they can link Sidney to the current plot but what was the point of Stringer? So has this changed their original idea of where this story was going?
  20. I binged season 1 & 2. Helen is my favorite character. Dana Sue has such an ABRASIVE personality, it’s hard to imagine she even has friends. Maddie annoys me so much. I’ll say it, I think she’s not a good mother. She can’t wait a few months until baseball season is over to date the coach? Even though Ty has told her how embarrassing it is for him? I don’t understand why they wrote the younger daughter on the show. Between her job at the spa, dates with Cal, going to town meetings, margaritas with the girls, when exactly does Maddie spend any time with this kid? I can see the older kids not needing that much attention, but this is an early elementary-aged kid that seems to spend 90% of her time with a babysitter or grandma. Also tired of the dramatics between Maddie & Bill. Yes, he’s the villain but she overreacts in every scene with him. As others have mentioned, like when he tells her about Isaac. He didn’t know himself, he’s not allowed to be angry that he didn’t know either? Instead he’s left apologizing. And at the hospital Maddie blames him for Kyle’s accident because he bought Ty the car. He’s supposed to predict that his 14 yr old is going to take it & crash? Also she gets on Cal for having stuff in his past & not dealing with it, but he’s been patient with her & all of the chaos in her life. I think we’re supposed to sympathize with her but I just get annoyed. And side note, I thought she was Amy Adams!
