Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Don't get me wrong, I know Influencers make money, but are these people really balling like that? A 100k pool and three trips to Disney in one year?! I have an aunt and uncle who are M.D.'s at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country and they don't vacation this much. I think the Stews are maxing out credit cards and spending every dime that comes in, and I'll die on this hill. It'll be really interesting to see where these people end up in 10-15 years. Not so much the Bates who live modestly or have spouses with real jobs, but more so the Stews and Zach/Whit. What happens when their fan base gets bored and moves on? Or their fans realize they can buy the same dresses off Temu for a 1/4 of the price? I've read comments saying "Well, Evan can go back to being an electrician," but it's not that easy to just slide back into the workforce when you've been out of it for years. Ditto for Zach. Going back on patrol when you're pushing 40 and out of shape would be tough. -

A hot tub? Sure, why not? What's one more drowning and safety hazard added to the mix? For the record, I'm not saying you can't have fun stuff just because you have kids, I'm applying it to stupid, negligent people who don't properly supervise (aka, Evan and Carlin). -

The next time I get annoyed with my husband over something petty, I'm going to remind myself, "at least he's not Evan." I know 99.9999% of everything these two do is performative, but he is seriously such a wuss. Sure anxiety is normal before any medical procedure, but Carlin setting up a recovery room like Evan is having open heart surgery is absurd. And the shopping cart full of sugary junk is why their fans should keep scrolling whenever Carlin hawks wellness crap (which she does all the time). It just goes to show what a total fraud she is. People who care about what they put in their bodies aren't chugging Dr. Pepper and Twinkies. -
Lawson and Tiffany: Warbling His Way Into Her Heart
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
That was really sweet of Brandon and Michael to make the drive to see the baby. I'm sure Tiffany appreciated the support. Bates fans always justify the lack of response with "Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen!," but please. Whit, Carlin, Josie and Katie post every waking moment of their lives on the 'gram. I'm going with my first instinct that they're self-absorbed mean girls who don't care about anyone besides themselves. William is a lovely baby. I hope Tiffany takes him and hightails it back to San Diego. The Bates will never be her people. -

I just saw that! How much rain has TN had? It looks like there's been no progress since the frame was built. I know weather delays can't be helped but it's crazy to think E&C are spending upwards of six figures with no clear vision as to design details. Are they just winging it as they go? I don't know if any of you remember that hilarious 80s movie, "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks and Shelley Long. For those who haven't seen it, it's about a couple who buys a mansion for a steal, only for it to turn out to be a renovation nightmare. I feel like this pool is going to be the Stews' version. -
Lawson and Tiffany: Warbling His Way Into Her Heart
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Katie just posted in her stories. She and Travis are on their way to Nashville so Travis can record. Travis mentions he had to convince Katie to come, luring her with a stay in a nice hotel and Katie talks about going out and doing fun things. Almost as an afterthought, they throw in getting together with family and note Lawson will be in the studio as well. Zero mention of Tiffany or the baby. That seems really shitty of them, considering this is the first time they'll be in town since Tiffany gave birth. No talk about how excited they are to see the baby, how great it is to have a new nephew etc. No mention of offering help. They really don't give a shit about Tiffany at all and it's so sad.* * I'm sure Katie will read here and update her reels, but she's not fooling anyone. -
Meet the Parents: Gil and Kelly Jo Bates
BitterApple replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Bringing Up Bates
I think 30+ years of bad diet and pregnancies caused a ton of health issues for Kelly in middle age. The Ozempic may have been medically necessary if she was diabetic, and she may have overhauled her eating habits because she had no choice. It seems unlikely a menopausal woman with Kelly's body type could shed that much weight so fast off diet alone, which is why I think she had some help. FWIW, I don't say this in a judge-y way, I'm just guessing the most likely scenario. -

I think so. She dropped a ton of weight out of nowhere after years of struggling to stick to a diet. -
Josie and Kelton: They Have Employable Skills
BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
I have a feeling Josie doesn't want to be a sidewalk vendor, but she's got a storeroom full of crap she has to get rid of. Heatless curlers are like any other viral product. They peak and then the sheep move on. It's not something you buy over and over. I imagine she's also selling her overpriced hair accessories. For the heck of it, I ordered the same style of brush Josie sells during the recent Amazon Prime days. I actually got a better quality one too, with real boar bristles. I used it once and absolutely hated it. It flattened the top of my hair while making my length frizzy and static-y. It got returned immediately. -
Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!

It'll be interesting to see how they landscape that far end. They're going to get runoff flowing into the pool if they don't do a retaining wall. I'm assuming its been hashed out, but I'm wondering if there's going to be all kinds of structural issues ten, fifteen years down the road. I've never known anyone to put an in-ground pool in such a steeply sloped yard. -

BitterApple replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Bringing Up Bates
Let me guess, Carlin's next reel will feature a comment from one of her burner accounts asking for the lunchbox link. Katie and Whit do this all the time too and it's so obvious. I'm sorry, but nobody is asking about all this basic bitch stuff. If I need a white T-shirt or an eyelash curler, I'm capable of finding it on my own. 🙄 -

They'll go with something obnoxiously country in honor of Lawson's 'career.' -

Agreed, especially if this isn't their forever home. They're never going to get their money back on it when they go to sell. -

Ha ha, it'll probably be Evan freaking out. Remember when the snake got into the house? Carlin knelt beside it to show Zade while Evan was in the background squealing. With regards to the pool, a service will be money well spent. -

Wow, that's an awful lot of yard dug up for a small pool. I know there's probably going to be a concrete patio surrounding it, but man, they're losing a good chunk of green space. -

Tiffany posted some new reels. Her parents threw her an absolutely gorgeous baby shower at La Valencia hotel in La Jolla. It was a tea party theme and very well attended. I'm happy she got a party every mom-to-be would want because that lame city park shower the Bates threw her was absolute crap. -

I know everyone has different preferences, but I think Carlin is going to regret not putting in a deep end. Maybe it's not as much of an issue in TN, but in Las Vegas where I live a 4-ft pool would be a bathtub by the first week in July. Depth keeps the water cooler. On the flip side, she's probably planning on having twenty people there at any given time so a shallow pool has room for everyone to stand around. -

Same. I grew up in a coastal town, so sailing and swimming were a big part of my childhood. However, even back in the 80s, we weren't completely ignorant of water safety. Sure, our moms packed fifteen kids in the station wagon to go to the movies, but life jackets on boats were mandatory and nobody set foot in a pool without adult supervision. Carlin strikes me as the type of idiot who thinks, "they're fine, they've got floaties" and goes back to scrolling on her phone. It's a disaster waiting to happen. I also thought it was pretty rude to be filming the pool area with other residents there. It's already tacky enough that the Bates horde has commandeered a community pool as their own private water park. -
Growing up my best friend had a pet rabbit named Harvey. That's all I think of when I hear the name.

I agree. Their lives are one giant advertisement, so I imagine looking the part goes with the territory. -
Alyssa and John: Lunch with Lurch
BitterApple replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Bringing Up Bates
You may be on to something. There's a poster on Reddit who does recaps of Bates socials and she noticed Alyssa has been glued to her couch lately and mentioned having to nap because she had no energy. I'm praying that's just due to summer heat, but Alyssa has a pattern of getting knocked up when she and John go away on a trip. I think Utah was a couple of months ago, so it would fit. -
Maybe they'll nudge Travis to enroll the kids in a private Christian school? Although in fairness to Katie, I don't think the Clarks' school is any great shakes. Deven Clark is a teacher there and her social media posts are riddled with spelling and grammar errors.

These two can't keep their lies and half-truths straight. I could've sworn they said they'd already rented their NJ house in their moving vlog, and now it isn't rented? Just like the variety of stories they've told as to why they've returned to the hive. It's so unnecessary, just be honest. I'm not surprised they're looking for houses. Travis pretty much admitted to hating apartment living before their suitcases were unpacked. With two kids and a large dog, they really need a fenced yard.

Alyssa and John: Lunch with Lurch

Alyssa's been posting a lot of workout content lately. Given how badly she struggles with morning sickness, I don't think she'd be up for much exercise if she was pregnant. -
Josie and Kelton: They Have Employable Skills

She's already done it as part of her hair care tutorials, lol. I'll concede that this sort of product is more on-brand for her than the jewelry was, I just don't understand why anyone would pay a premium (plus shipping) for something that can be found at any big box store/online retailer for much less money. Also, fun tip about the scalp massager, they're awesome for pets. I ordered one for my dog as well and he loves it.
