  1. I especially remember Stephen Cannell because of that logo of him typing on his damned Selectric!
  2. The Big Bang Theory seems to have a fairly contented cast, but I've always wondered if there was tension on the set after Cuoco and Galecki broke up. I don't think their characters have ever had much onscreen chemistry even when they were dating, but it's still gotta be at least a little awkward for them.
  3. Mary is only 18 but she and Jair both seem to have their heads on straight and, given their shared interests and religious faith, I fully expect their marriage to succeed and flourish. Best wishes to them and to Jair in his determination to get his moodiness and bouts of depression under control. The fact that the Willises have basically created their own church is interesting. It's not like there's a dearth of various Christian denominations in and around Nashville, so the fact that they prefer to worship with a few other like-minded friends must be indicative of something -- perhaps they're seen as being too "permissive" with dancing and performing by some churches? But there are plenty of Bible-based denominations that would have no problem with it. I wonder how far their open-mindedness would go if, say, one of the kids said they didn't want to wrestle, or dance or play music. It does seem like certain things aren't optional.
  4. I made an effort, I did. Started watching, realized I couldn't stomach any more of Sean and Davina. Fast-forward. Not interested in Jessica and Ryan, either. Fast-forward. Saw Ryan R. mopping the floor -- scintillating. Saw a bit with a voiceover saying how he and Jaclyn were trying to make it work, with the image of what was basically their good-bye, let's be friends, hug from last week. More fast-forwarding ... Sean again, on his bro date. Give me a fucking break and I can't FF fast enough. Nothing else catches my attention. Done. Delete.
  5. Yes! That guy was amazing. Someone should find and interview him. If he kept up his interest he must be feeling pretty hollow now. I started watching Dave from the beginning but I was working and most nights couldn't stay awake so I'd go to sleep and set the alarm for 12:30; wake up to watch then go back to sleep. It was all so different and funny and off-key and I didn't want to miss a word. There was a Rolling Stone cover story about Dave in 1982 and I cut out the front page and mailed it to his office asking if he would sign it. I can't guarantee it was his signature, but somebody sent it back to me.
  6. Jimmy Kimmel got choked up tonight saying how much Letterman meant to him as a teen, and credited Dave with him being given his talk show after ABC execs saw him as a guest on Letterman. His band leader, Cleto, also gave a short tribute to Paul.
  7. Aw, Jimmy. I know how much he admires Dave from seeing him on that show, but to see him tear up was really touching.
  8. We should all be on a jury together sometime. :)
  9. In the police procedurals I've watched, the captain/lieutenant/watch commander role is often thankless, with no teeth. I give a lot of credit to both the writers and McTeer for making Guziewicz a fully-fledged person as well as an intelligent team leader.
  10. I don't remember seeing this one before but Venus' parents and brother got on my nerves with their self-righteous finger pointing. I should have felt sympathy for them but didn't.
  11. Ha! The awkwardness made me snort. I found it hard to believe that Hopkins could sneak in and out of bed with someone and walk past two other people without any of them waking up. And why chance it when there were plans in place to be up very early the next morning. It didn't seem like a hot and heavy ongoing affair in the first place, so why even try to meet up that particular night with all the obstacles? The polygraph evidence was all over the place, yet police (these and others) keep believing in its nonsense. To make it worse, they often lie about the results during interrogations.
  12. What did I miss? What secret? I'm not sure the right guy was convicted in this one.
  13. Here's the follow-up story I'd like to see -- a profit/loss accounting by each Shark for every investment they've made, and which fell though. Mark confirmed that he has a team who focus solely on his Tank investments, and that ain't cheap. Are any of the Sharks in the black, long term? I'm also curious how much the show pays them.
  14. I imagine Cilona intently googling himself after the first episode last year, then latching onto the one board that had posters praising him. He certainly skedaddled out of here right away. What I don't understand is why the network allows it -- you'd think all participants would be given official blogs on the FYI site to drive traffic there.
  15. Was there any discussion about the Sway's top speed or MPG? The Elio seems like a much better option for most shortish-distance commuters. Although perhaps not for largish ones.
  16. Congratulations, Sean. I'm sure a promotion that was being reviewed for "several years" wasn't a letdown at all.
  17. My main problem with Bantam Bagels is that they're not very good, with only a dab of filling in each. The owners were childishly clinging to the name out of misplaced sentiment, but Lori's "solution" was even worse. If they're intending to expand their product line, why not keep Bantam as the unifying brand like Nestle or Kraft and add descriptors -- Bantam's Stuffed Bagel Balls, Bantam's Brownie Bites, etc. On another note, if I never hear the word "co-packer" again, I'll die happy.
  18. I can understand the appeal of building a custom bikini, especially for young women who have several, but wasn't sure why they kept showing them with different material on the cups. Who wants mismatched breasts? And do these website builders never do any stress testing? The weaselly owner doesn't so much long to be an entrepreneur as he wants to be Jay-Z. Spent all his money on a ridiculous party? I wave my private parts in his general direction. Chord Buddy, sigh. Sales are down, dude! You have to pay attention. I actually feel sorrier for Robert because of how boyishly excited he was to make the deal.
  19. I went into a snorting laugh at the sight of Mark, Damon, and Lori smiling at the kittens, then cut to Kevin glowering. Even if the shot was out of sequence, still funny. But honestly, the cat cafe presenter seemed very nice and all, but I may as well have gone on and asked for $75K to open a Tom and Chee franchise. If those square wheels really are that much better, the skateboard world would be all over them already, so I have my doubts. There must be a learning curve to them, or some other downside. I'm curious if anyone remembers the name of the design company where the Sway guy works. My ex is one of the founders and I'm wondering if they're going to get a Shark Tank bump now. ;)
  20. For some reason I keep trying and trying with this show even though I don't like it and never have. Louis trying to have phone sex while a bunch of kids are careening around unsupervised in his house AND he's expecting a pizza delivery ... I'm out. I'll try to make it for good this time.
  21. I knew nothing about such a show! The thought did cross my mind that Vin wasn't all that hunky, but then, sex-trade workers in general don't seem to be any more attractive than a random cross section of people who aren't making a living off their bodies. But I am curious about your sex drive. :)
  22. I obviously have zero inside knowledge, but fuck you, Melissa. She's the producer of the damned show, so it's beyond stupid and insight-less for her to blame Kathy -- Kathy! -- a minor player who came on and by most accounts, simply did the job she was given in a fun way. It seems like Melissa is blaming Kathy for quitting, but it's Melissa who created and fostered whatever toxic work environment there was. Look into your own heart, Melissa, if you're hell-bent on protecing your sainted mother's reputation. Also, shut up, Giuliana.
  23. Filtering everything through the lens of, as usual, me, I'll say that my opinions of Jaclyn and Ryan haven't changed since the casting special. I wouldn't be friends with either of them IRL -- one personality being too much and the other not enough. But I do have a lot more respect for Jaclyn and agree that she's shown the most insight about herself and put in the most sincere effort to try to make her marriage work. I'd go so far as to say that she's the only one out of the six who has acted like an adult about it.
  24. Aw! It's pretty much my primary form of entertainment! :) I didn't pay attention to their surroundings, but I guess I assumed that Ryan had scurried right back to Long Island while Jaclyn was out of town and that the poker game was held there. Or maybe the production company didn't want to haul their camera crew out and set up in a different location.
