  1. Odd reactions that I had:  Melissa took a dress when she was going camping?  They were too cheap, or too honest to the stage, to use CGI to turn Martin Short into the leprechaun.   They just put the camera way above him looking down.  I think I would hate corn pudding - best it stays in Schmigadoon.

  2. Or salt, or baking soda, or rice.

On WWHL explained that there were no lids or salt at hand.  But water is the worst with a grease fire.

So the rest of the charter guests must be friends of RO2's wife.  They all seemed delightful and the kids were well behaved toddlers.

Anyone watch Romeo and Juliet on Great Performances

I know it's getting rave reviews, but I missed a lot of the language.  What was left seemed particularly dark and depressing.   Romeo and Juliet is a romantic comedy until act three.   I missed those lighter moments.

I also couldn't get past the memory of Josh O'Connor's Prince Charles to accept him as Romeo.   Because so many of Mercutio's lines were cut, I didn't get a sense of the friendship/relationship between him and Romeo.  In this version, it would have made more sense for Benvolio to kill Tybalt.

I know you wrote this months ago, but my daughter and I just watched this.  When Mercutio died after about a half an hour, we looked at each other and said - this seems a little soon - they're leaving out half of the text!

I had more trouble with Jessie Buckley's Irish Juliet than O'Connor's Romeo.  And Mercutio loses his character completely.

  4. Extra people?  There's Martens the hunky first mate who we actually saw this episode.  There are most likely two engineers so that they can have one available at all times.  We may or may not see them ever.  Unless someone mixes bleach and detergent and makes poisonous gas again.

The shot of Z and Malia transporting the cake over those floating platforms was super funny.

And Miss Bahamas can go home to mommy right now.

Mike White is a writer; I think his most well-known movie is School of Rock (which he was also in).

And he and his father were on the Amazing Race twice!

My magic number is 5 seasons. Regardless of number of episodes. Most shows seem to become repetitive and their characters become their own caricatures after that.

I think that at that point most shows have lost their original creative team - if a show is successful, they are recruited to make money for someone else.  Or it could be the curse of George Clooney's ER contract - instead of negotiating a big salary increase after the first season, he worked out his five year contract at the original salary, but then left for much greener pastures.

  7. "You can't give birth on your first day!"

I like that this is going to dark and twisty places with three dimensional characters all around.  My pandemic TV addiction has been to the Below Deck franchise, and this reminds me a lot of that.  All the machinations that go on behind the scenes to make the rich people have a great vacation.

I really, really want to know what the casting decision was here. None of the stews are going to hook up with any of these dorks, and God knows that's what Bravo wants every season. Are they trying to avoid hook-ups because of Covid? These are literally the most unattractive deck hands they've ever had. We're talking < Pete.

And yeah, Lloyd, you kinda look like Nicholas Cage . . .  if he was cross-bred with Mr. Bean.

I thought Malia was right - he looks like Mario

I would imagine the casting pool is greatly diminished by COVID and any new requirements imposed by the production company.  Miss Barbados and the blonde 3rd stew are very attractive as is the cheerful lobster slayer.  The rest are normal people - like us.

I do like how Allison and Patty are bonding now. Both actresses are doing a phenomenal job with the material. I'm curious to see how things go in the next few episodes.

I like the bonding and liked the third episode much more than the first two.  However, it seems odd that Allison and Patty are just bonding now.  Patty is constantly in Allison's home and she and Neil live literally next door.  Why does it seem that they are just meeting now?

  10. Sam Mikulak looks exactly like Homelander.

Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Nastia's dress was ugly and inappropriate, but it had sleeves and wasn't low cut.  Laurie looked totally professional.

My husband this episode kept on saying ... this isn't the final? Isn't it usually a final three? I kept on stating it's never a final three we usually have a final two. So, he felt fairly chuffed when he was proved right and we ended up with a final three.

    ........

After a few seasons of not being invested in the winner, I've decided I don't mind who wins or loses. I'm here for the storylines, and the food. As Shota mentioned others have told him "being in the finale really changes your life". So, I think all three of these chefs are going to get a big boost to their careers.

Not to give your husband any more credit than he deserves, but it's frequently a final three.  The All Stars season that preceded this one had a final three (Melissa, Stephanie, and Bryan V.) as did Season 6, widely regarded as the season with the best cooking (Michael V., Bryan V., and Kevin).

I'm with you on not minding who wins - they've all made stellar dishes and deserve to be in the finale.

I wasn't a fan so only saw a handful of episodes.  I did wonder though if a guy sharing an apartment with two women would have been such a shocking thing in the '70s -early '80s in California.  Maybe it's because I grew up in Montreal with a bunch of universities right in the city - so lots of students sharing digs -  but this wasn't all that unusual to me

It wasn't shocking at all.  I refused to ever watch the show because I shared a home with three guys and another woman and thought the entire premise was insulting.

  13. I disl87ftgriked the quickfire and thought Dawn getting paired with Brooke was ridiculous.  Pair the past winner with the person who has had the least wins, not with the one who has had the most.  But Gabe and Shota stepping back and partnering up was hilarious.

Not a big fan of the box from home that you have to cook from.  What if someone's family had sent an assortment of snacks or candy?

I guess I'm dating myself but mine was The Sound of Music. Does this mean I will be on the run from Nazis with a bunch of kids? Yikes-I hope not!

Me too!  It means we're going to become great singers!  Or able to make children's clothing out of curtains.

  15. However Shota himself pronounces it is the correct way to pronounce his name.  We'll have to rewatch the first episode to see if he introduces himself.

I have a colleague who's first name is spelled Lief, but is pronounced Layf.  By all rules of pronunciation coming from Germanic languages, we should call him Leef, but he pronounces it Layf so that's his name.

  16. Motives are revealed and convictions are tested as our heroes rush to stop Teddy's plan

That's what led off the synopsis for the episode.  What motive was revealed?  What convictions were tested?  As usual, no one had a plan, and Morgan had some sort of hidden motivation, but if you had asked me why he and Strand were fighting, I couldn't tell you.  Couldn't they have just said where the bombs were heading?

Why do I keep watching this? Not even Keith Carradine is worth it.

not to mention that are we really to believe that the guests typically show up at 1:00 pm + zero seconds? All I could think about was that champagne sitting there on the tray getting warm and flat. Has anyone here gone on a trip like this? Do you really show up at the precise time to find everyone waiting for you?

As much money as people pay for the trips, I think they are all there on time.  Plus the TV show wants to film them strolling down the dock so they probably have to get there early to do makeup and get miked.

A few of us here have had cats given radioactive iodine. How do you keep the cat from tracking the super special litter around the house?

You keep them in a room by themselves.  The vet should have told you that.  It's not fun.

  19. I really liked this final season of the show.  It showed how important Norman was to everyone around him.  And it expanded Sandy's bubble by including his ex-wife.

But, as a former estate executor, Sandy should have given Norman's daughter and grandson some money initially, then said that was it until everything was straightened out.  Why?  Because he paid himself right away.  The $10M he gave to Mindy was his inheritance from Norman.

Ants. Freaking tiny ants. I can't tell where they're coming from and don't have the energy to clean out everything. They aren't in the sink or near the cat food, they seem to be coming in from an inside wall. GAH! I hate them!!!

I am plagued with ants also.  My daughter came up with the idea of spraying them with Windex.  Kills them instantly and makes it easy to clean up.  I am not a Buddhist.

  21. The Slumlord Strategy is to get the entire side of the board.  Then put hotels on them which is easy because they are the cheap properties.  You might hit the railroad or the card, but you're most likely to hit one of the hotelled properties.

As a game, Monopoly is not very telegenic.  Blackish did it right.  Especially Dre being a player who hides his money underneath the board so you can't tell how much he has.
