  1. I find Zed to be a better foil for John than Liv, but other than that this was disappointing. It felt like a middling Supernatural episode.
  2. To me it seemed that, because there was 99% chances of Ricky getting a steal, Pharrell thought that Ricky would be alright no matter what, but if *he* didn't help Elyjuh, no one else would. His decision benefited both contestants by allowing both of them to stay, so I don't mind it even though I can't really stand to watch Elyjuh when he performs.
  3. Ha, yes. Troy was a little obnoxious for me so I'm glad he's gone but as he was dancing to that goofy song wearing that suit I was thinking, what the hell is this going for? He sounded very good during the acoustic part but I still had no idea whether that was his real "voice" or if that was just him putting on a show in a different way. I was thinking that he looks like Keanu too! And he's got a soothing resting face. Regardless, I think he's one of the best/most interesting in the competition. Ricky looks like the love child of Joaquin Phoenix and Jack McPhee from Dawson.
  4. I can't believe Pharrell let Katriz go either. I mean, I see how Danica has the potential to do well on the show, but it would have been so interesting to see Katriz' evolution as she tries to figure out what kind of artist she is with Pharrell's help. Apparently, I like Katriz a bit more than I thought I did. And as far as 15 year old singing geniuses go, I feel that Katriz >>>>>> Bryanna, who, in spite of Pharrell's words of advice to her (to go change the pop world or something like it) comes off as terribly cookie-cutter. Should also be docked a few points for sheer unoriginality in their song choice: Toia and Jessie. I thought both were overrated. Props to Toia for keeping up with Crazy In Love, but what she did with the song was not actually that interesting. Jessie has a nice quality to her voice but her performance was a bit hectic. Taylor Swift was a joy (especially when she shut down Adam with "that's a good conversation to have never").
  5. Gwen, Gwen, Gwen. She seems to be a fairly good coach from what we've seen so far (the lives are the real test!) but the way she keeps pushing her button at the last second (which makes it seem like she wasn't sure but impulsively pushed anyway, or like she's too influenced by what the other coaches do) and offering up silly reasons to choose her (I want to learn from you! I want to dress you up!) really isn't doing much in her favor.
  6. I DIED when Henry took off his breakaway suit to reveal another identical suit underneath, TWICE. Karen Gillan is so good at physical comedy and reaction faces, and her dancing was so endearing.
  7. I didn't like this episode as much as the others. Wes going to extreme lengths to defend Rebecca even though a) her hiding Lila's phone is more of an argument AGAINST her than anything else, it's suspicious, b) she doesn't want his help. Being a puppy is one thing but being reckless for the sake of a neighbor you've only exchanged a few words with seems like overdoing it. I actually wouldn't have minded if Wes' motivations had been presented just a little bit differently/convincingly but as it is I just want to roll my eyes (did the "she's POOOOOR and has NO ONE" speech have to be so whiny?) The Michaela/Aiden/Connor drama made both Michaela and Connor look bad, meh.
  8. Yesss, that was hilarious. Of course Henry is on LinkedIn (and OF COURSE he's Sansa Stark, that was perfect). The show is funny and I like the leads, I'm in.
  9. Thanks for the link, I like the single!
  10. Yeah, and I find the neighbor really annoying so I didn't like that part of the reveal. I hope the way this thing will play out on the show is more interesting and less obvious than it looks right now. Overall I still like the show a lot.
  11. I'm so glad that Pharrell came along to challenge Adam, king of the 4 chair turns. It's very entertaining to watch. I think what Adam does very well is make people feel like they really are special to him, like he truly cares. Adam acts like he'll just DIE if you don't pick him, and it's gotta be hard to resist that level of positive intensity and adoration (and dimples). Unless Pharrell starts speaking directly to your spirit, as he does. I've got to say, I agree with the coaches in the vast majority of non-turns. Some of them are good but they're missing something, either in that particular performance or in general.
  12. Before the last episode actually aired I wouldn't have predicted that the scene in which Claire tries to go back to the stones would be so suspenseful and intense (especially being a book reader and knowing there's no way it'll work), and yet it was! So who knows what other good surprises the show has in store? Either way I'm looking forward to finding out.
  13. Won't somebody please send Emily to Revenge rehab? I'm surprised Nolan believed her when she insisted she wasn't planning anything revengy for the party and then crashed his car. IT WAS SO OBVIOUS, NOLAN. Still utterly bored by Charlotte and Jack, good god.
  14. I think the answers are in Claire's voice-over. At one point she says understands now why she's angry at Jamie. Basically she's mostly angry at herself for getting caught up in this romance and forgetting her end game, and redirecting anger is a thing people do. Just after the attack, she talks about struggling to keep repressed feelings in check. What happened was a shock, it brought her back to the reality of her situation.
  15. I actually really like Capaldi as the Doctor (he's actually the reason I've started watching again after losing interest 1 or 2 seasons ago), but this soldier thing is so tiresome (also, why so much hate for PE teachers? Were the writers always picked last in gym class?). Other thing I wish weren't a thing: the heaven ~mystery~ they've been gradually teasing. Overall I liked this episode until Danny and the Doctor started shouting at each other in the Tardis.
  16. That made me laugh! (And I've had the same thought). What makes you think he thinks she was? As someone who saw the scene as an attempt that came dangerously close, Jamie's behaviour makes MORE sense that way otherwise I'd have to think his reaction wasn't strong enough. Also, just before they split up Claire says she proved she CAN defend herself, which implies that she did stop the assault in time. But had she not killed the guy, it WOULD have happened, and Jamie blames himself for it. I think that whole situation was scary enough to explain Jamie and Claire's behaviour after that.
  17. Loved it! It's kind of amusing to see the comments about how dark and sleazy it is because by the end of the episode I was like "that was fun!". Viola is such a pleasure to watch, Dean Thomas looks adorable when he's confused, and it all moved along fast enough for me to ignore the little voice in my head that went "lol that would never happen".
  18. I completely agree that exposure is great and that the show itself alone is a fantastic opportunity/experience. What can I say, I'm prone to hyperbole :). I just think it'd be good if the show did have a breakout star (whatever that means these days, but you know, with a certain level of success) even though that has a lot to do with what happens AFTER when the show is no longer involved.
  19. Image is absolutely a huge part of it but when you just sang your heart out, "I'll give you handbags!" isn't what's going to resonate with you the most. Unless you're like, a handbag addict. Yep. Honestly I'm surprised that The Voice still manages to attract genuinely talented people because their track record with winners is abysmal. I don't know that absolutely none of them are as good as the singers in earlier seasons but I think that after all these seasons, we're now seeing the same "types" over and over again, so unless you're clearly better than the other versions of you or different enough, it's hard to stand out.
  20. Someone should challenge Adam to do his sales pitch without saying "I" or "me" or "win". He'd probably burst into flames on the spot because it's way beyond his capacities. This episode made me like Pharrell again, he had great comments for the contestants. I did lol when at one point he said something like, "I want to reiterate that I turned around because you deserved 4 chairs", which basically means 'you're objectively good but don't pick me, i don't really want you in my team!'. I liked Gwen too and I was kind of mesmerized by her shiny red lipstick. My chair turns: Very Unfortunate Paintball Accident!Guy, Clara, Allison Bray, Damian.
  21. You acknowledge that breasts come in all shapes and sizes and yet keep saying that hers are low for a "young woman" (whatever that means, because as we've seen people have different definitions of the term). I think that'll be my last post on this particular subject because I feel weird now.
  22. Not that I think there's anything wrong with Cait's boobs but, dinna fash, Jamie didn't seem to mind at all. ;)
  23. Waaat? I think Cait looks lovely as ever in the 40s scenes (especially in the first episode and also the goodbye scene at the train station when she was in uniform). The hat in ep. 6 was kind of awful, I'll give you that.
  24. The "computerized" voice of The Architect in that introductory video bit sounded like Capaldi so they kind of spoiled the twist with that (unless the whole point was to be ahead of the characters and watch them put it together) but yeah, it was fun enough.
  25. Yeah I hope the rest of the episodes make up for that.
