  1. I was talking about all the shots of him alone when the crew is out. We're to believe Glen does various things during these crew outings but some of them like the chess game look performative.
  2. I'm not saying Daisy and the stews weren't just chatting when Gary told them on the radio that the guest was hurt. But that is something they could have easily manipulated in editing. Maybe they were doing something else than chatting and socializing. They would have filmed them in the galley and the deck crew getting ready to throw ropes and the guests in the lounge with different cameras. So they'd have to assemble the footage from these different cameras together. But are they doing it in a way to represent what was happening on the same timeline? These aren't security cameras so they don't have a time stamp which you could compare in the different shots to determine if the shots of the crew they depict on different parts of the ship were happening at the same time or they weren't. Daisy and anyone else shown as not being attentive to guests or chatting while they were suppose to be working may object to any kind of editorial manipulation. OTOH, they understand that conflict and drama is what this and other Bravo shows are about.
  3. Exactly, the tip they get on camera has little to do with "7-star service." It's all part of the entertainment, that they do these undesirable jobs -- wait on drunken louts, scrub toilets, clean up after them on the deck, etc. -- and they get big money to go out and party. They're in some of the most beautiful places in the world and they make weird choices what to show. I guess producers wanted to film them docking in Bonifacio. After docking, they went shopping in the marina. What makes Bonifacio distinctive is that it's a fortress built on this thin peninsula on the most southern tip of Corsica. At their closest points, Corsica and Sardinia are only 6 kilometers apart. How do I know? I was there 2 weeks ago in Bonifacio and they told me. One of the passengers teared up as they were entering the port, with the fortress city to their right, looming high above them and on the left would be the limestone-lined coast. They didn't even go up to the city. Bonifacio offers stupendous views of the surrounding terrain, though maybe not as much at night. It's also stunning from the water to the south. There are boat tours there daily to see buildings clinging off the top of cliffs over the water. But apparently they traveled 2 hours just to show the boat docking in reverse. Going to Bonifacio without going up to the city is like going to Manhattan without going to Central Park. Also the Sardinian places they're spending time in are beautiful but they don't go to the La Maddalena archipelago, which I think is a UNESCO site. Maybe they didn't get license to film in those more famous places. If it were up to the charter guests, you'd think they'd want to go to these places, whether or not they can film there. That is why it's highly doubtful that the guests pay and tip the crew. They don't get to do the things they want and they don't get to go to the places they'd want to see. Instead they do stupid beach picnics and play along to dumb stunts like eating sushi off Gary or the eyeball-worthy talent shows.
  4. Wonder if it was a producer idea to have Daisy, Colin and Gary go by themselves in that van. Awkward silence. Glenn playing chess with himself, that's probably producer prodding. Why would he just be by himself? Why wouldn't he go to some bar for a drink or meal. Or FaceTime with his gf?
  5. Kelvin and that other guy can't stay away from dildos and what looked like molds of male buttocks.
  6. Oh man that opening scene with the bickering couple putting down each other's haircuts. Then ending with her clobbering him in the face. We may never see these characters again but it was awesome! This show certainly shows all varieties of evangelical churches. Jesse scorns these backwards militia types while the Steve Zahn character is calling the Gemstones grifters, which is true. I guess there will be another action plot again this season, with the Gemstones having to duke it out vs. Zahn and his militia.
  7. So they have a similar theme to Succession, siblings bickering over taking over the empire daddy created. But they really lean into the bickering. Already the natives are restless, the ministers don't have confidence in the children. Judy says she's been on a break while on tour. She's channeling Ross when he tried to explain to Rachel. She's been making out with the guitarist with frosted tips. Gemstones kids have to try to keep the big donors from deserting. I guess tithing is a thing with these evangelical megachurches. I though it was just the donation plate they showed in one of the early episodes, it was like Easter or some other holiday and they collected so much money that there was a caper to hijack the armored truck.. Judy's husband is encouraging the worshippers to have automatic deductions from their paychecks. Again, I thought only Mormons and Catholics tithed but why wouldn't these grifter evangelical preachers do the same? I'll tip 15% even if I'm going to pick up food for takeout but I'll be damned if I give even 1% of my entire income to a church.
  8. They had a good attitude, not too demanding. No jobs but do wither have work visas? They moved from a cold place to a warm place, no complaints about getting away from tough winters as you often hear from house hunters leaving a cold place for a warmer locale. He lived there for a couple of years as a kid and wanted to move there? At first his wife broke up with him, then married and followed him there. I guess the budget had to be adhered to. He gets a job working in a bike shop but maybe they don’t plan to stay there long. Would seem like they’d need more income than such a job would seemingly bring.
  9. Violent as ever, with the extended fight sequences, very bloody. the blood seems digitally-enhanced, like one person drowns underwater and a burst of crimson red expels from his mouth. these gangs kill, including bystanders, and blow things up with impunity. Cops are rarely seen until the aftermath of fights or battles. there are few unexpected strategies, because these characters seek nothing else than power and they’ll kill anyone in their way. You see brief glimpses of what motivates them, like the Kurds wanting to fund wars back home by making as much money as possible from crime. Koba is interested in squeezing out all the other gangs, who are mostly organized by ethnicity, most of them immigrants in the UK. He threatens Luan’s family and abducts his wife. Elliot just wants to protect himself and his father, the only family he has left. the aim of the show runners appears to be to maximize violent action scenes but the kind of nihilism depicted shouldn’t be sustainable. They turn parts of London into war zones, at least for a few hours. One imagines that kind of overt violence would be met with more forceful response from the authorities and they’d lock up a lot of these players. I have 1 and a half episodes left to watch so I’m not sure who survives but the series is already renewed for season 3. if the formula is the same in season 3 it would strain credulity.
  10. Canada to Christchurch, New Zealand. Family of 4 with mother setting the main requirement that they be near a beach, even though husband’s job is in the CBD, relatively far away from water. Wife also wants to stick to $2000 budget so that she doesn’t have to work and can spend more time with the kids. House 1 is in the CBD, really close to husbands work but no water views. House 2 is like a dream home, high on a hill overlooking the coast line, much more spacious than the other homes, with million dollar views, pool and hot tub. House 3 is right on the water but is only two bedrooms, though there is a separate cottage which could become a third bedroom, but the rooms and common spaces are small. Only House 2 is over budget at $2300, the other two are below budget. Wife insists the children, a 12-year old girl and a younger brother, can share a room. Daughter is about to hit puberty and she’s going to want to share a bedroom with her younger brother? Just so they can stick to budget and mommy can stay at home? Kids are both going to hit teenage life. They are not going to want to spend as much time with mommy as much as they used to. The other selfish thing is they have just one car and wife wants hubby to commute on bike so that she has the car. They eliminate House 1 and she pushes for House 3 which is still a 30 minute commute by bike each way, saying the children couLd share a bedroom. Husband says they will need therapy because they will be on top of each other. He advocates for House 2 but she’d have to work for them to afford it. Also means he’s riding up and down that hill on bike as well as spending a lot of time commuting. So she agrees to getting a job — something at a school. Kids love the pool and hot tub and their own rooms. But what do you know, no more talk about mommy spending time with the kids. Even though he chose House 2 knowing he’d have a long commute, why didn’t he fight more for House 1 with the easier commute? Looks like she’s dominant in the marriage. Not sure how often she goes to the beach. They have a great view of the ocean but it takes some effort to go down the hill to the beach. That’s the other thing, he’s the one who should have the car or they need a second car. She talked about how they love to travel and wanted to live overseas but when insisting on being near tHe beach she said she agreed to move from Canada to New Zealand to be near the beach. I’ve been to the Christchurch area a couple of times. There are stunningly beautiful water landscapes to the south, southeast and east of the city. They’re suburbs, not part of the city. They’re all great places to visit, to hike. But to be near work, schools, restaurants, shopping, they’re not as practical as living in the city or in some other more developed suburbs. You can reach them in less than 30 minute drive from the city so great on weekends. Yet she convinced him to take on a long and difficult commute.
  11. There's a Season 7 announcement video showing a young couple from shoulder up apparently having sex. The last season I watched was 4 or 5 and it featured quite a bit of nudity of one of the female characters. Seems like it's becomes kind of sofecore porn with not as interesting teen story arcs.
  12. There have been articles written about "hookup culture" which took hold on young teens. These were like 5-7 years ago. So Madison is about the right age, would have come of age in the mid to late 2010s, so maybe her approach to casual sex is representative of her generation.
  13. Well Daisy is Irish and Gary is South African. I don't think smoking has declined as much in those countries as they have in the US. I remember learning that smoking was banned in Irish pubs and was surprised, didn't think something like that would happen.
  14. Tokyo guy seemed to be convincing himself that he needed to get out of his comfort zone and try things he's been resistant to try. But this fellowship or whatever gives him an income in Tokyo seems like a safe decision, why turn down that money even if his lifestyle in a foreign country may be uncertain? My guess is he doesn't have to speak Japanese at the job and they assured him he could afford a nice place but maybe not as spacious as Americans are used to. Presumably may have visited to interview so he had an idea. He ruled out #2 because he didn't want to figure out how to make one train change? Maybe one of the things out of his comfort zone would be using public transportation with a crowd of people. He had to know he was going to have a lot less space before he accepted the job in Tokyo but he kept harping on it, though maybe the producers encouraged him to play that up because it's not like HHI viewers never heard that opinion before, that homes outside America are so much smaller.😏
  15. I'm not sure if Cary and Brooke are meant to be characters that we see change or not change over time or they're just types or examples of narcissists on whom they can set up jokes. If they're meant to be characters, they are not likable. If they're just cartoons, then it's easier to take their pettiness and small-minded outlook. I would swear Cary was more sympathetic in previous seasons, as the sad sack who was struggling while his teen brother had it so easy. The joke was that he would come close to having success or having some of his dreams fulfilled only to be pulled from him at the last minute, so kind of like Charlie Brown. This season, not so sympathetic. For a minute, he wondered why after having some career success and winning the reunion he still wasn't happy. That might have elicited sympathy but then he decided he has to set another elusive goal. Or in the previous episode, his friend was right that Cary was only supportive of him when the friend was less successful than him, you know kind of like a epiphany in a Morrissey song -- the young Morrissey, not whatever he is now.
  16. Actually, they may not be spinoffs in the classical sense, that is use characters from the show for their own shows. They may have the Billions branding but may have little to do with the original show except the branding. I don't know if the show runners or the people who own the show will actually have involvement with these other shows. They will at a minimum probably collect license fees or something.
  17. So are any of the cast going to be in the spinoffs? Or are the creative staff also going to spinoff-o-rama?
  18. Do you mean cognitive dissonance or is configurative dissonance something else?
  19. So that's like at least 2-3 years out from now? I was going to say they might have to re-cast some of the characters but can't re-cast the lead guy and Gunn's wife is also a major character. Maybe he should hire someone to be show runner with the proviso that Gunn makes most of the big decisions and has final say. 20 years age difference. Respeck! /Ali G.
  20. OTOH, the situation is weird, she's going from one coworker to another as a potential partner, either for hookups or for relationship. It's not an uncommon situation but some people may not want to be in such an "incestuous" circle. She may want to cast her net wider or elsewhere and Colin may think he needs to do the same. Her revelations instantly changed the way he thought about her. He may not have thought before that it would be a dealbreaker for him but it seems like it hit him in that moment that it's a dealbreaker. Either that or he's a pretty good actor.
  21. But I think that's something only she fears. Her sister and others in the social circle, not so much. Maybe there's some cynicism about criminals from or those who've been violent based on her police experience and training. Maybe others are naive or just don't see people the same way a hardened cop does.
  22. Awesome. Hoping Jason has more power to fire people instead of putting up with crew like Benny. Now that pandemic restrictions are lifted, even in Australia, maybe the producers will have more backup cast members near by. Now firing is performative on BD but there are clear cases where they'd be better off getting rid of some people. Unless the BD series evolves towards Jerry Springer drama where cast are encouraged to be openly insubordinate and the captain and the crew are constantly sniping at each other.
  23. I agree Colin didn't need to say what he did to the chef. But didn't he say Marcos was "next level," not necessarily that Marcos was next level beyond Ileisha but just that he was great? He didn't say she wasn't good, but certain implied, or maybe he said it explicitly, that he was better than her.
  24. Yeah I think Catherine wrote off Tommy as this sociopath, possibly informed by her training as a policewoman. It seems like for Catherine, Tommy is not only irredeemable but there is nothing which could be redeeming about him, even though he was apparently a victim of circumstances, growing in a horrible situation. But when you see Tommy smile as he sees Ryan, that seems like a genuine reaction, not some evil satisfaction that he snuck out on Catherine again and that is what makes him smile.
  25. did they put it out there, that they were having sex between seasons? Or did they just get together a couple of times. Daisy must have some sense of shame but if Gary behaved better she would have given him a chance? OTOH, Colin must have felt they put one over him. They or Daisy at least denied there was nothing between her and Gary and she claimed she doesn't just hook up. So to Colin it must mean something that they had sex.
