Pool and Open Water Swimming: Do Not Swallow the Water
Arynm replied to selkie's topic in 2016 Olympics
Simone might be my new favorite. Her face when she won was pure amazement, it made me cry. She is still crying and I am just so happy for her. I can't believe there was a tie!- 1.0k replies

Phelps is crying. I just love him! Lochte, call me when you get home. ETA: He is accepting his medal and is completely overcome, just for context- 1.0k replies

That was amazing! Love a 1-2 American AA.

The Mexican gymnast that is supposed to be so freaking big, weighs 99 pounds. All the haters can kiss my ass. If she can do the work, which she obviously can since she's in the fucking Olympics, she deserves the respect of everyone. Have several seats haters, lets see you in the Olympics before you open your mouths

Cuban guy on Vault is super hot. Too bad about sitting it down

I love the Japanese men. They look great so far

I watched diving yesterday and didn't even notice. That is very green pool. I wonder what happened?

I never noticed how negative the primetime announcers are until tonight. Maybe it's because I streamed the events and the announcers were so upbeat and positive. It's really jarring. I noticed when NBC showed Great Britain, not the part where Elissa Downie nailed her floor routine after landing on her head the day before, but the 5 seconds where she fell of the beam. And that's it. That was all they decided was fit to show us of GB. Seems so mean spirited.

I only like the sin bin because like the name and enjoy the announcers having to say sin bin over and over. I don't enjoy the players being sent there, unless of course, it benefits my team. Just to be clear

Shocker.

The battle for 2-4 is good TV, I hope we get to see some of it tonight, I'm glad I caught it today

They are cooking the books to make sure China gets silver at least. I hope they tank on the next rotation. Watching the judges try to find a way to score her higher was just blatant and gross.

I think the Ukrainians just didn't want to perform since they did so poorly in prelims, but they didn't want to give up their spot. It's very selfish and makes them look terrible. I doubt they care. When they perform in the Ind. events, I expect the crowd to boo them. They haven't held back so far when they don't like a athlete

The main feed did go back and show Madison probably because she nailed it. They did not show Simone
-
In other news the US women divers seem to be choking so we might have a flip flop of last nights coverage

I have 3 streams going on my computer and one on TV I'm exhausted! I have to watch diving as well as gymnastics so it's a lot of clicking to different streams

We call them butter faces. As in "Its all great, but her face..." In this case its his face, but butter still works. I think Michael is growing into his face, tbh. -
What the hell New Zealand! I'm gonna need you to come strong in this tournament. Lots of upsets in just the first couple of games with Japan winning against NZ and France beating Australia. Can't wait for the Fiji game Terrible call in the USA Argentina game. Never should have been called a try. ETA: I love the phrase "sin bin" I enjoy when they send players there.

It's always something with Bob Costas. I would have preferred the pink eye of last time

One of the most memorable things I remember from the '96 games ( I posted earlier, but didn't mention this) was the torch relay. I read in the paper it was going to be close to me one day and I thought it might be fun. I drove up there ( it was by a mall I think) and parked and waited with a semi-big crowd of others. As the flame got closer you could feel the excitement in the air. When the guy ran by and transferred the flame to another( I don't remember who) I just burst into tears. It was overwhelming, everyone was cheering and so happy to see this random guy carrying a torch. I actually drove to the next place to see the flame transferred again it was so amazing to see.

I really enjoyed Horton. I thought he was informative and animated without being a complete asshole. He brought personal stories that really added something to the commentary. I liked when he pointed out how much it hurt when you hit the pb with your biceps and then pointed out the bruises on the Chinese athlete. Much better than the evening announcers by a mile.

What a great game! I have a soft spot for New Zealand, especially when they do the Maori dance. I just love it. I wish Fiji would have ranked higher, but there is always the men. Congrats to the Aussies.

Thats it for USA, go Japan!
-
Wow! What is happening with Ukraine? Jonathon Horton is just flabbergasted. Something must be very wrong

Oh dear, why do the guys seem to fall apart when it counts. Lets hope they can pull it together and not come in last at least.
